NY Islander fans need to get TF over it. It's been over 5 years FFS!!! Maybe Islander fans would be better off booing their ownership for not doing their job well to keep Tavares. How about that for an option? Hockey is, at its core, a business and it is (and was) not Tavares responsibility to do the Islander's job for them. Apparently the Islander's management played hardball and came up empty which is not Tavare's fault. Every team has lost a fan favourite, including Toronto on a few occasions, and that player might be boo'd for a game or two for fun but for 5-6 years, that's making a mockery of the practice. I can't understand why Islander fans are such babies about it; I've always admired the toughness of the people of New York City (and surrounding areas) and this is a slap in the face to that reputation of toughness. Leafs fan here. I've never liked his contract and have only recently developed an appreciation for him. While I thought it was harsh, I definitely found it funny when he got blasted in his return to Long Island. Now I understand why - and I consider it deserved.
