Very nostalgic for me. My first 3 Gi:Joes were Grunt, Zap, and Flash back in the day. Just started my classified collection and this is a must for me.
Great review! Grunt was one of the first, if not the first joe I got. One of my favorites. I like the "grunt" aspect of this figure. In a time where everyone wants to be unique, I find being plain is my uniqueness. I'll drink my black coffee and eat my plain donut while I play with grunt!
Great job! With all the craziness that happened to the Joe figure as it went along I didn't think they would make Grunt, but man am I glad they did
I have not seen Grunt at any Target in my area, strange he is already on clearance. Also on the knife, you would usually have the handle pointing down and not up. That way you can reach up to your shoulder and quickly pull it down and out.
Ditto, I've been trying to find him in Target and I'm begging to think it's a myth because I'm stroking out every time.
Grunt was the 1st Joe I ever got, My Grandpa got him for me along with the MOBAT before I even knew what GI Joe was.
Right on ! He will fit perfectly into the collection I just hope I can find him on sale !
He will be a pickup for me. He was one of my fave 3 3/4 from childhood, but I also had his deluxe 12 in figure too.
This imo is one of the most important figures. Its everything GI joe represents
Grunt returns appearance until G.I. Joe the Series 2 is only in DIC Animation in 1989-1992.
I love this figure. Completely exceeded all my expectations. No quality control issues so far unlike some others (Tunnel Rat, Firefly) and I found him for $11.99! I bought 3. Only figure I have multiples of. Displaying one with his head and the other two will be nameless.. grunts. This dude also convinced me to order the Steel Corps 2 pack. I guess I like army building now.. RIP my wallet.
Edit: You're dead on about that communicator breaking easily. I may or may not have broken one within an hour of getting my first Grunt out of the box..
There's a small pouch on the back of his holster belt you can put Grunt's M16 mag on that small pouch
I'm sure Hasbro put that helmet head so you'd have to buy more to army build. Or it's a happy accident. Either way they'll be selling a few per customer. One certainly could have 3-5 with the helmet head. And one with grunts stock head as the leader of the team.
This is exactly what I did. For $11.99 it was literally cheaper to buy two Grunts than a single Joe. So I got 3. 2 helmet, 1 head sculpt. They'll be backup for whoever. Team those up with the Steel Corps and that's a diverse squad to accompany any Joe.
I bought two. For me, the full face helmet is going to be my head canon "Carmine" of the squad
Looks like they might do this for the rest of the green army men original 13 like Clutch.

Grunt refers to soldier and E-4 mafia is probably the best representation of grunts 😊
Yeah, the visor thing on his chest...I accidentally broke it off trying to get him out of the box...

We also need zap, grand slam, and col. Hawk. Zap and clutch were my first.
Well damn, I should have scanned him when I saw him, may have missed out on the $11.99 price. I may get him eventually, but will wait. As a kid, Grunt was one of those guys that was on the front lines and sometimes fodder for Cobra to shoot at. Never one of my favorites but a guy you need in there.

Love this figure! Grunt was my first Hoe back in the day, I thought he was GI Joe back then, of course the file card told me otherwise. Anyway, if you do get a second to use the Steel Brigade/Corps head, take your spare Grunt head and swap it out with Falcon, ditch that crappy Falcon head sculpt! Then pop that spare green helmet on first wave Duke and now he has his helmet too! And now you know….

I have to give the award for plainest Joe to Breaker. Minus the Ram, all he comes with is a helmet.
But he comes WITH the vehicle so you have to count it
I could see hasbro reusing that mold with different colors but they really should not have put grunts name on the figure so that we would be able to army build. UNLESS hasbro is planning on having additional grunts with different names on the figures bc that would work. I’m definitely planning on getting this one or three😀

I think the knife should be from bottom up, i.e. absolutely opposite of what you are doing. That then makes more sense. I am displaying him like that and he can draw his weapon without having to rotate his shoulder uncomfortably.
I know a lot of people like to army build him but to me grunt is a singular character and not a army builder

In no world is grunt a top level character when people rattle off their favorite Joe’s or cobras. Grunt is never on that list.

I guess to some but to me i don’t list him high just because he was in the 13 at all
@@KylePeterson1980 I get it, Kyle -and also meant no disrespect- but as an even older head than you here's how I've always collected the latter day lines of the Joe team - Obviously, the perennial All-Stars (even Flint LOL) and always get the OG13. I even did a vid on them in 25th/50th anniversary on my channel - the work to get them all and customize them to match the old school appearance. And in Classified, it's the same way - All--Stars absolutely - but OG13 as a subset absolutely. I'm far from the only one - there are many OG13 videos of various stripes around.
I'm just pointing out you may be surprised at how not off the grid Grunt is to ARAH fans.
Grunt will always be popular with the people who were there day one when the 3.75" line first launched and with the comic book crowd.
