Grunt was the army builder from what I’m told back in the day. I never played with him that way. It was just another Joe to me. Some are treating the new Grunt as troop builder but with the name on his body you need to do some customizing. I hope they do come out with some generic soldiers.

The first batch of vintage Steel Brigade figures was mostly a repainted Airborne so this is a pretty good idea of what he'll look like next year. I wish this set had included the vintage backpacks in addition to the J.U.M.P. packs. Still, I can't wait to get this set as the vintage figure holds a lot of nostalgia for me as my core group of friends at that time played a massive joke on the "ultimate Joe collector" in that group by waiting until we all had them in hand to let him know that the thing existed.
Not like Hasbro does this with every line they have.

I love it because i remember being a little kid and found the giveaway on a box of cereal or something and sent it out to receive my G.I. Joe Steel Corp in the mail. I didn't know what it was supposed to be so I would always pretend he was some kind of pilot for the Joe's.
Was notified by bbts today that my preorder is being fulfilled. Can't wait.
As a kid I loved troopers both clone troopers and gijoe/ cobra.
Thanks for mentioning that they are an exclusive. I was gonna wait for them to start hitting retail. Looks like I will go ahead and pull the trigger on these now. Not crazy about the actual figures (even though they are a cool nod to the past) but I definitely want those accessories. Definitely.

Lots of reuse on these which is fine, the original figure was all reuse too except for the head. The best thing about the original figure was it was you, you created the code name and file card, then Hasbro sent the figure with a one sheet printed out file card and a patch. These look great to me, even with the beachhead upper body and first wave SE lower half. The female looks like she has Lady Jayes lower half and maybe movie Scarlet’s arms, will need to check that. Still, at the end of the day as you say, these are filling out the ranks and will fit well with that spare Grunt using the Steel Corps head.
Pro tip, take your spare Grunt head and swap it on Falcon, it works so much better and that crappy Falcon head can go into the fodder drawer. You can then take the spare green helmet and pop it on wave 1 Duke and bam, now he has his green helmet.
And now you know… 😁
So, the back peg on my jet packs has stress lines on it, already, after only one use. Classified Series has had some soft plastic in the line, so I probably shouldn't be too surprised at that, but I definitely hope it doesn't break now. Gonna have to be extra careful with it.

good review, brother. i used to own the vintage version of this character. one of my favorites. the reason the photo is a bit blurry is because the toy photographer wanted to make it like they exploding right out of the opening credits of the gi joe movie when they were all launching after cobra straight off the statue of liberty. which he said was his favorite part of the movie. lol.
This is not the only one blurry though and the back is blurry
I wanted to get this to fit with my action force steel brigades, but the scale was off, even with my classifieds. Though I will admit that the accessories look cool.

Mine were scheduled for mid November, then mid October and now listed as arriving Monday. At this rate I'll see them before Friday which isn't a bad thing. My issue with these is two things. I don't like that the weapon effects are colored red now. I guess they're going for a classic cartoon style? But that doesn't make sense because they moved away from that for a more modern approach I thought. Look at the Viper 3 pack, it's the same effects but more accurately colored. And then my other complaint, well I suppose it's two, the elbows and knee's not being pinless. And the female trooper having single jointed elbows.. It's 2023. This is not acceptable. With all the money this line makes you can print new molds. Really not a fan of single jointed elbows in any line. They work but they're always something you have to work around rather than something you're grateful to have. That said, I am definitely excited for these. Even if I take the jet packs and throw the troops to the side, I'm going to have a good time with this one.

Ah I have nostalgia because these used to be your own personalised gi joe figure. Its a shame about the american flag as I am from the UK and I kind of wanted to pretend it was “my” old character lol

This should've been a male 2.pack. the female don't even match up lol. They used whatever body parts for her lol. What a let down. The male is great. The jet packs are great. The female was a waste of my money.

Come on, dude! The hinge and swivel on the female figure?! That blows, sucks. They could have done a way better job with that. As if they don't have female figures with double jointed elbows! That's the most disappointing part about this whole two pack. With that knife sheath on her chest makes it even more difficult to hold a weapon 2 handed. And some of the effects are mis painted, but that hinge and swivel! So disappointing.
