I just bought this machine and used it for the first time. Your video was very helpful. Thank you very much.
Seen a couple of video about this machine. Your video was the most informative.
Word of advice for those that use this carpet cleaner. VACUUM BEFORE!
The mud sitting in the bottom of the canister at the beginning means the area wasn't thoroughly cleaned with a vacuum. If you vacuum properly, you will only see dirty water, not a bunch of mud.
That dirt will clog your machine and lower its performance.
I agree. I do this as well.
I vacuumed my carpet 3 times before using this cleaner and I still had dirt on the bottom. The soil in my area is very sandy and I don’t live near a lake or ocean. So the dirt she showed as far as I’m concerned is that this machine is very powerful to extract anything in your carpets.
Great videos. I really liked that you divide it into sections. I could go stop work on that section of the matching and practice before continuing your review. You went from top to bottom. It made sense by the time I saw the 4th video. Thank you so much.
I also learned some more pointers from other people reviews.
Thank you for the feedback! I am happy to hear that you found my videos helpful.
Totally agree. It is super, duper nice you don't need screws to take this apart to clean the bottom. Thanks for posting. Nice to see someone else do it, before you try. You think you will ruin it if you mess it up lol
I can't thank you enuf for this video. Your a life saver! Thank you!!!!
You're welcome! So happy to help!
I'm so happy I picked this machine.
Thank you so much you answered my question. Very thorough video. Good job!!!!
My mother in law wants me to clean her carpet .....must clean machine. Thanks for making me look good!!
Great how to clean reassemble video. The clear plastic brush cover is removable to clean brushes really well by pushing the 3 tabs in on either side of the brush assembly.
Thank you! I borrowed a friend's and needed to clean it before returning. This was a fabulous video.
For the bottom spin brush, you can also pop and take the spin brushes out and clean them separately too
Thank you for this video! I learned how to take the brush off because of this video! I had just bought this machine.
Once you have the brush assembly off, the brushes come out for individual cleaning pretty easily. On the transparent plastic cover there are six tabs ; just push them in and that cover comes off. The middle brush is screwed in but the four outer brushes just pull out. You can then pick the cat hairs (most of my dirt) off easily and you don't have to unscrew the middle one. Put the four brushes back in - it's obvious how - and clip the plastic cover back in place. I did mine yesterday and I wish I had seen your video first for the latch for the business end of the machine.
Thank you for sharing this. I have bought one, and it does a very good job. Better than renting one from homedepo. It is very worth to have one of those, especially for home owners
The ones you rent from Home Depot are steam cleaners. This Hoover is *not* a steam cleaner. Steam Cleaners not only clean better, but help to sterilize carpets.
thanks for uploading. this video was very helpful and all around great quality! 😁
I needed this video, you're awesome. My brother in-law just borrowed mine and brought it back to me filthy and full of bedbug's 😫😠. I'm kinda freaking out about it. I really wanted to use to today ☹️. I have to take it all the way apart to make sure it's very very clean.
Uggg that sounds like a nightmare. Don't worry though. The canister is easy to empty and rinse. I suggested running hot (not boiling) water down the hose. Also soak the brushes in hot water and vinegar. See if any bugs come out of it. Hope that helps and thanks for the feedback!
This was really helpful! You can remove the plastic cover for the brushes. Push in the 3 tabs on either side and it will come off for better cleaning!
Thank you for the plastic cover tip! I shampooed an area rug that shed quite a bit and clogged the brushes, and your instruction made it simple to remove the cover and get the rug "fur" out of the brushes! I used the end of one of my cleaning toothbrushes to gently push in the tabs.
Thank you very much for making this video!!!! Very helpful!!
Thanks for the video really helped me figure this out since the last person lost the directions.
Hey Halo23! Thank you for the feedback. I'm glad you found the video helpful.
Good video in cleaning the machine. You can also remove a small silver screw and all the brushes come out individually for a better clean.
Thanks for sharing all 4 parts :)
You're welcome! Thanks for watching!
@8:32 and @10:00 that clear plastic shield comes off fairly easily and then you can clean the 5 brush heads individually and remove the fur from between them.
Thank you I lost my instructions and your video helped me clean the machine. I don’t have the pet one I have the other one.
I am glad you had the videos helpful. Thank you for watching.
I just dump it in a toilet. Then I rinse it clean in the tub. Then I clean the tub (so I usually try to clean carpets when I think the tub needs cleaned anyway. Overlap labor!
Killing 2 birds with 1 stone (carpets and the tub). Nice! My back might not agree but hey it works. lol
I have a Hoover power scrub... The top of the dirty water reservoir has a place that I can't reach and it is full of dog hair. You can't take it apart so how do you clean it?
Thank you
This is very helpful.
You can remove the brushes and use a comb to get all the dirt in between the bristles...
This video was VERY informative! Thank you 😊
Thanks! I appreciate the feedback and I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
Thanks so much. I didn't know I could take it all apart and it was so grimy!
Anyone that purchases this Hoover and uses it to clean their rugs and carpets will find that the basic machine is as solid a cleaner as the more advanced Elite and you can save lots of money by buying the basic machine which I purchased at Walmart on sale for about $125 American. The machine is a no-brainer, well engineered, easy to clean, take apart, and reassemble. Remember to pull the brush heads off and rinse those also. Turn them, the rotating cleaning brushes, upside down and let them dry. Then, reassemble the machine and store your Hoover in a safe dry place for the next use. Excellent professional video that will help others who do not read the manual.
Great video thank you so much
Great video! When we cleaned ours a little water/solution remains in that tiny reservoir in the Clean Water Tank near the Wash/Rinse nozzle. Any idea how to empty that out?
Thank you so much. This made it so easy. I'm going to try tooth brushing the bristles to get hair out.
Hi, I've had this machine for about 3 years. works great. i recently had an issue where the dirty water reservoir tank won't seal shut. i've even sat on the top to try to get it to close but it doesn't close enough to allow the latch to hook. anyone else have any issues like that? other than that, it's a great machine.
You did a good job but you left out one important area to clean at the end of the "Clean" or "Rinse" shaft where the soap is dispensed. That area grows mold and is impossible to remove at the soap ouitlet.
Hey just curious if you still have this.... this video is 5 years old. I have a very similar unit that's 3 years old and I take care of everything properly like you do... I even put everything in front of a fan to blow dry... including the machine itself....before putting everything away.
Thank you for this video ! Just bought mine and got it dirty
Thank you so much!!!!
My pleasure!
Ty
The whole brush comes apart pop the clear part off and take each brush off to clean
Great video and thanks for sharing! I have always used a Hoover carpet cleaners. I just got this & last night was the first time I used it. Everything is easy to clean except for the brushes! Ugh! I took the clear plastic off and cleaned each brush one at a time. I have a small dog and even though I vacuumed 3 times the brushes still had hair in them. Maybe they will create one that’s easier to clean the brushes. I went back over the carpet before I took it all apart to rinse the soap out and it wasn’t extracting the water out very well! Wasn’t happy with that but otherwise it’s a great machine!
Thank you for the feedback! I agree. Getting the hair out of the brushes is tedious.
What did you do to fix the problem? Our machine won’t spray now after we cleaned it. Have had it only two months
If you want to be very picky, you can use a fine needle or pin to clean out the bristles. Just pass the needle straight through the bristles at the base and then slide it up.
Great video. What size is the clean water tank and what size is the dirty water tank a gallon? Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for the feedback. If I had to guess I would estimate a gallon for the tanks. There is a fill mark for the fresh water. I would empty the dirty water tank before refilling to prevent any issues.
Thank you for your prompt reply.
use a crevice end of a wet & dry vac over the brushes, it's work well.
Is it important to go over your carpet on rinse after you have done the deep clean shampoo?
I never have. I've owned mine 3 years and use it every day, sometimes twice per day (my large dog has separation anxiety)
over time you'll get a rust looking stain in between the plastic. It's inside the plastic somehow, no way to get it out. It happens on the upper part. I submerged it over night in CLR, one night oxy clean, one night dish soap. Nothing
Is there a reason that you pour the dirty water down the sink drain instead of down the toilet? I would think all the hair and dirt would clog the sink drain.
Honestly, never worried about a clog as I use it for all kinds of messes, as well as washing the dogs. I am assuming that it may have a larger pipe since it is a utility sink. We have been living in this house for 11 years and no clogs. 😁👍🏻
We’re having a problem with the machine not spraying and we’ve only had the machine for two months! Used it 5-6 times with no problem. Any suggestions?
Take it to an authorized dealer.
I LOVE this machine however my hoover elites' brushes are not spinning. I cleaned my machine and let everything dry and I made sure that the actuator where the brush assembly goes into the body of the machine was spinning freely but the brushes are still not spinning. I so do not want to take the machine apart. AAAAHHHHH!
Damn! That rug was filthy
Right! Lol. I was surprised as you are.
the little round scrubbers also pop out to clean!
I took the whole scrubbier brushes out too to clean it all. So much dog hair!
I have found that I need to do that also. It seems like they get full of carpet fiber as well.
Radiant Review definitely yes!
use a hair pic to get hair out of brushes
Good tip!
I find the top impossible to clean.
It is not as easy as the other components. I try running water through it in different directions, also putting fresh water and sloshing it around helps.
Everything is great!, but you have to turn off the water. Do not waste!!!
Thank you!
The water is not actually wasted. If she's in a city, the water is purified then returned to the water reservoir. 100% of water used is recycled. The only waste is the money she pays for the water usage.
Really helpful video! Hoover also suggests to use a small butter knife to clean hair, lint and debris from the front clear plastic section. Really makes a difference especially with suction!
It's a pain in the arse to clean because there are ridges inside the nozzle. I have a nylon tool from my Bissell vacuum that helps. The vacuum head is a very bad design for cleaning.
You don't need a knife. The clear plastics piece around the brushes comes off and you can take each brush out of its spindle for even more access to clean the bristles.
