Well yeah the Met Gala is out of touch, so is the Super Bowl, but that happens every year too regardless! It's a yearly planned event, if it was canceled every time something was going on in the world, it would never happen.

@@Siuuuuy7 Super Bowl tickets are insanely expensive and all just a big show for advertisers.. it's a football game that takes a ton of resources to play ONE game.. also, why are you acting like these athletes aren't paid millions of dollars to throw a ball around.
what is a bummer for me to realize is how people’s attitude is that the Met Gala can’t be allowed to not happen, instead of humanitarian crises.
The Met gala really doesn't have anything to do with current events. It has to do with raising money for The Metropolitan Museum's Costume Institute. And since tickets were $75,000 apiece, I'm guessing they raised plenty. So good for them!

@@HossEehoss A lot of the stars who were there have the designers or the producers of their latest project pay the ticket cause it's publicity for them; many (if not most) of them don't pay it out of their own pocket. It's a transactional arrangement that benefits both The Met & the person paying for the ticket.

I really like her and her art but that dress was horrible... they did her dirty with that one. The material was horrible and they had to cut it off when she got inside.

They understood the story behind the dress code which is Garden of Time and also think about the theme of fragile dresses that are warn once.Instead of going the east way off getting flower dresses, they went deep. Will always remember that dress because it is UNIQUE! No one has ever done that before
@@user-lg7ev9lm8b the dress wasn't actually molded to her body perfectly. It was molded; yes but not perfectly to her body. It was just stiff that's why she couldn't move. If you watch when they cut it off of her you can see that there was lots of room in the front, the hips and the but areas. The torso was body sculpted but the rest wasn't. I felt she deserved better. The sentiment and the idea behind it was great but it turned her into a meme.

@elishasmith4640 ahh good to know lol I don’t watch them anyway. Nicki’s era of winning is so refreshing though, I’m glad you brought that up. Not only has she started transitioning into her mogul phase but she is on a world tour in a recession and it’s sold out. I am interested to see what other businesses she debuts before the end of the year, I just know she has other things up her sleeve.
I was so happy to see Sunny mention Mindy Kaling, multiple talented writer and hilarious actress featured there and the gown color was a great contrast to her skin tone

I think it’s lots of fun but mainly because of what Alyssa said. I like the THEME aspect of it and seeing who did a good job in relation to the theme. My favorite gala was definitely 2018 - Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination. The outfits were stunning and on point. I liked it so much I actually went to the museum to see the exhibit and it was incredible!
Mona Patel in Iris van Harpen, styled by law roach won the night.
There were some great dresses this year! Loved all the ones the mentioned. I also loved Nicole Kidman's dress and the dress worn by Georgina Chapman. Demi Moore and Harris Reed had some cool pieces as well. Sara Jessica Parker's hat was fantastic this year.

I was interested in Whoopi's answer to Sarah's question about what happens once the stars leave the red carpet in those gowns.
Obvs one assumes they go to another space to change before mingling but it would have been nice to get a first hand account from someone who has been there.
BUT, these ladies interrupt each other a lot. Very often one cant finish a thought or have a joke land because the other will interrupt.

That’s a nice sentiment, but everyone on that stage is so rich, and they’re always in designer clothes. They’re at the point where some even send them clothes so they wear them and give them exposure, similar to the people at the Met Gala getting a free dress or suit so they can be seen wearing it.
