It is absolutely crazy! I bet it cost more fossil fuels to make, ship, pkg, and distribute all the DEF. Not to mention all the plastic in the landfills. Thanks for watching!
As a truck driver myself DEF sucks! Even if you keep your death tank full at all times it was still crystallized around various components in the deaf system causing them to gum up and then Stop working properly. Your truck goes into derate which means you get all of about 5 miles an hour. And you have to take it to a mechanic to take that death tank apart to clean off the crystallized def off of the components it's in there. My truck has had to go to the shop at least 4 different times for this one issue. And I never ever let it get below half a tank of def
Just another reason i’m keeping my 2013 HD2500 🇺🇸 GAS 6.0 4x4 with 220k miles… Still Pulling Strong 💪 Y’all can keep that over engineered, overpriced 🚽
That is absolutely disgusting that they do that. What if you can't find DEF? Your truck just stops working? Also be interested to know what would happen if you put something else in there like water
You know, I haven't thought about that. I guess they mandate it be available everywhere, but if you are in the middle of nowhere that could really be a problem. Water would NOT work, but here is one thing I read: "DEF is urea or otherwise known as aqueous ammonia. Windshield washer fluid that contains ammonia will do in a pinch. It contains less AA than needed but will get you to a town where you can get DEF" Thanks for watching!
I haven’t put def in my truck in a while nothing is happening I’ve been out for at least a week I got no warning but I looked at the gauge and it’s been gone, I was going 80 on the highway yesterday
VW/Audi diesels have a function (read issue)that wont allow the vehicle to restart after empty DEF, and requires a visit or tow to the dealer to fix. cant wait to find a pothole
You can blame the EPA for the introduction and restrictions of DEF in all diesel vehicles.

You think they are all in cahoots? It's like the auto start thing. That will likely ended up causing more starters being sold.
@@KingsOutdoorLife I mean they were all in cahoots for the emissions scandal. But this is definitely a 'blame the EPA' problem.
@@g00se31 I think the automakers jump on board so they can sell more parts and do more service work.
I can tell you in a semi if you run out it derates motor and you can drive 10 mph and then needs to go in the shop
Isn't it just a ridiculous invasion of a "Nanny State" we have allowed all this? Thanks for watching!
👍🏻
5mph is bonkers.
I couldn't make myself go that far! Thanks for watching!
Absurd! I’m going to stick with the 6.2 liter gas engine
I still love my baby diesel with all things considered over my 6.0 gas burner. Thank you for watching!
