Well done on getting such good footage in area that is really tight. Most videos are murky and unclear, but yours was very nice! Thanks for sharing and helping us keep our Yaris's on the road!
Brilliant video, my water pump has gone today, looked at the Haynes manual and it looked to hard, then found your video and its really quite straightforward. Thankyou so much, saved me from sending it to a garage!
Great video considering you had very little room around the water pump. Nice you included torque values. Buy yourself some rachet spanners, makes easy work of bolts in tight / awkward spaces.
Great video . Im planning on changing my daihatsu sirion, very similar to this as its a Toyota engine, i too am hoping to be able to get to it by the side rather than take of the wheel or bumper. Thanks for posting. Ps all my problems started with a dodgy thermostat! The over heating damaged my head gasket, which i fixed with steel seal but then my water pump started leaking and i suspect the overheating damaged the gasket on that , but i shall fit a new pump as well as gasket to be on the safe side as it may be leaking from the bearing.
Thank you for your video. Do you recommend using a sealant on the water pump gasket? I don't know if yours was metal or not and I am contemplating if using a sealant is good for a metal gasket.
No problem ! I didn't use any sealant and the one I got didn't say to use any the surfaces of both the water pump and the part of engine that it is being fitting are meant to be completely flat and any small imperfections are dealt with by the gasket once the bolts are torqued to the right specification as long as the engine block isn't warped then it shouldn't need any sealant hope this helps!
No gasket sealant and torque to 10Nm = 7 foot pounds. Seems barely enough to hold it on. What is the torque on the three bolt pulley? When you push on the belt how much vertical up and down play should be in the belt.? A well made video.
I could see a burr on the inside of the mating surface before the gasket went on it may have been just out of his view they wont cause any harm they were tiny strands.

The most amazing thing about all of this, is how he managed to fit a camera for all the angles in such a tight fucking workspace XD
Haha it was quite frustrating trying to get the camera to stay in the right position without knocking it!!
@@supercar.central well I got mine in with relative ease thanks to your vid 💯
Good I'm glad it was useful!!
Thanks, great help. Just what I needed!

What are the most important tools you need to do this job?
a water pump and 10 mill wrench
did you use RTV on the gasket?
Nope just put in the new gasket that came with the new water pump!
How often do you need to change water pump thanks
You really only need to change it if your having a problem, in this case the bearing was making a little noise so I replaced it hope this helps!!
Did you use a sealant on the gasket?
No I didn't use any sealant just the gasket is needed
Did you have to take the tire off to do this job?
Nope the wheel can stay on, it helps to jack up the car though to give you space to get to the bottom alternator bolt!

What is the size of your ratchet?
It's a 3/8 ratchet about 20cm long
Too many commercials
Made it look so easy
