My 1.9 jtd is faster, something wrong with the engine.

There is definitely something wrong with that engine it doesn't even sound like the 3.2 V6 it took years to get up to its top speed which wasn't that fast anyway
@@KevZX-10RC1H It is definitely the 3.2 V6, it sounds like it, the engine has issues though. Way too slow as you said.

@@nvl2691 I will say though that I have the Alfa 147 3.2 V6 and it sounds way better than this car and it revs freely all the way up to about 150mph and that's the reason why I said it doesn't sound like a V6
this has to be the most accurate speedo on earth. good job alfa!
At least the speedo accuracy is fine !
Yeah it's safer to be like that Incase you've accidentally hit a certain speed limit your Speedo is just a little faster than it should be
By law manufacturers have to have speedometers that display more speed than the real one. This one is on the limit
I see its made by VDO. I used to drive an Iveco daily van with a VDO speedo that was just as accurate, so good job VDO!

I waited for someone to do a proper acceleration of this car for years. Thank you 💯. On the other hand I'm about to cry because I didn't realize all that time how slow this car really is.... It is my dreamcar after all. I have a 156 currently.
156 is way better!
Update. I showed the video to a friend of mine who has a 2.2 Brera and he told me that his car has similar acceleration to this. So I guess there must be something wrong with it... I can't explain it otherwise...
@ps_works I'm never selling the 156 anyway 🤩
@@dennispapadopoulos4920 This car unfortunately has carbon build up issues. Being a low mileage direct injection engine, the excess carbon from the combustion deposits in the intake ports. Normally, running the engine often clears the carbon out. But since this one only has 42'000 km, the carbon had the time to dry out and block the flow of air within the engine.
Result: power loss of almost 30%. It's probably making less than 200 hp. Stock, they hit 240 km/h easily, while this one barely goes over 215 km/h.
Objectively, the 159 is much, much better than the 156. It is safer, better looking, more comfortable, it handles much better especially with the Q4 AWD system, and it's a hell of a lot more reliable. It's only drawbacks are the high weight (which was partially fixed in 2008, new aluminium chassis components dropped the weight by about 100 kg), and the lack of the characterful but old Busso V6.
The 3.2 JTS is a great engine, it makes more power than the Busso, a lot more torque, while being more economical while pulling a car 300 kg heavier (with AWD too). It's just strangled by the 6 catalytic converters in the exhaust manifolds and downpipes. Remove those, and it makes 290 - 300 hp with a remap.
Result: less than 5.5s 0-100 km/h time, in part thanks to the AWD system, and a 255 km/h top speed. Want more performance ? Rebore to 3.6L using Holden bores (OEM parts), port the heads and intake manifold, and you're making over 350 hp.
Underrated cars these 159s. Superior to it's predecessor in almos every way, injustly hated upon by the community due to the fixation on the high weight, as well as the spread of false information (such as "It's not an Alfa V6" and "It's a rebadged Opel Insignia" which are both wrong - the 159 is based on the GM premium platform which only it and the Brera used).
@@nvl2691 can confirm, the AWD handles great. I had a Volvo S60R, also AWD before this. Despite the extra weight, my 2.4 Diesel handles just as well but the steering has much better Feedback than the Volvo ever did, without being overly heavy.

Nothing wrong - 159 is very heavy and the egine is very low on torque. Try a dragrace with 156 GTA and you will see, even a 2.4 JTD 156 will smoke the 3.2 159.

I thankfully had the privilege to have driven the famous Busso made V6 engine fitted on previous Alfas. To be honest, the sound and feeling of that engine is something I can't describe. At best I can say that it is mesmerizing and addictive and above all enough reason to not need a car radio. I haven't experienced any engine like it before and since
One the other hand, I have to say that this video of the 159 seems to give a good impression of the sound of the engine. It's always hard to compare it to how it would sound and feel in real life, but I must say that I think it actually sounds good and not as bad as I heard people say it does. Although again it doesn't come close to the Busso V6, I can clearly hear something that sounds like a distinct V6 roar. Thanks for the video!
0-200 kmh= 1 millenium
Good to see a speedometer that is spot bollock on.
I think it's one of the most beautiful wagons of all times, more so than the Giulia.
Did they ever even make a Giulia wagon? Part of why I bought my 159 was that it seemed to be the last of the Alfa Wagons

2. Holden V6 is low on torque and thirsty
3. Taking into account 1. and.2. the acceletation is legit.
Sorry, no it is not.. it is slower than it should be.
Yes, car is heavy. Yes, it has only 322Nm of torque, but this car shown in video barely reached 220kph and it took ages to get there. Car can easily go faster and way quicker.
I have 159 with this engine.
@@Matus.S you can't know, if there's a slope or a headwind. I've only driven a Spider with this engine in the city and it felt unapropriately slow as well. And I always feel, that any car goes faster, than a filmed speedo suggests. So for me the phenomenon of 3.2 JTS is the long gearing, low torque and high weight of the models it was installed on. Well even if you subtract couple of seconds to the car in the video, it would be slow either - the older V6 models are rockets in comparison, anyways. Not to mention BMW engines of this aera with comparable displacement.

The GT has the 3.2 Busso engine, not the GM/Opel/Saab block with an Alfa head. Alfa stats say the Busso is 2kW down, but it's never felt like that when driving them both. My non-Busso 3.2 in a Brera was closer to 17s
@@kanguruster
If you actually had both engines, you wouldn't say such nonsense. It is very typical to say that the GM is better than the busso .... when you don't actually have a busso. The 1.75 tbi and the busso are infinitely faster than the GM. Mainly because they move 300-350 kilos less and have better cx and a much more closed gear. The GM is not a bad engine, but it is a tame engine and heavily weighed down by the 939 platform ... If you still have doubts, watch tests or watch any video ...
17 seconds possibly in your dreams.
Jeje
@@rpp7187 I completely agree with you, except for how you've misread me. When I've driven a GT Busso, while I didn't time it, it felt faster than my Brera and I completely believe your 15.5 seconds compared to my 17-and-a-bit.
@@kanguruster
The time ranges that I have set for both cars I own are measured with GPS. There is always room for error, the unevenness always affects the condition of the car ... I have to say that the tbi is always a little faster at the beginning and then the V6 busso is faster. Times can vary 1 second, maybe 2. That's a lot. But in any case they are logical. They are similar to the test averages. A Brera 3.2 according to the 6 tests recorded by Zeperfs takes 23-24 seconds on average. According to AutoMotorundSport, almost 28 ... 17 seconds your Brera, is to do pure magic.
This car has some issue with the engine. It is definitely not full 260Hp under the bonnet. Barely reached 220kph and it took ages to get there. I have 159 3.2JTS Q4 and it goes faster (and quicker). For sure not that fast as GT with Busso (FWD with much less weight and more freely reving engine compared to AWD with engine more restriced due to emission standards and heavier platform), but it is ok for family wagon.
Gorgeous😍
