Thank-you everyone for the kind words! We are beyond excited to have found and have the opportunity to work with Mike and Erin of "Our Wyoming Life". We are happy to answer any questions on fencing, we'll leave the rest to the expert, Mike.
Keith, is a great asset. Beckaert is a reputable fence supplier. Beautiful day in Wyoming, what a life. Enjoy that beer Mike
Thank-you for the kind words! I agree!
I personally, don't think I'll ever be doing this in my life. But it was So interesting to watch Keith work his Magic on this fence installation. Mike, I thought it was A Phenomenal Video, sure it wasn't the "ordinary" video from you, so what, Not Everything Is The Same Around The Farm!! Thanx For Sharing With Us!!
Built many miles of fences on farm 50 years ago. My word what modern saving techniques have developed since then. Fascinating video today. Thanks
After years of putting up fence, I couldn’t believe it would be entertaining watching someone else do the work!!!!!!!!!! Good to see Mike wearing gloves on the job.
It's always more fun to watch someone else put up a fence.
Hi again MIKE
GENIUS! Hoping the fence guy is highly paid!! Absolutely worth any extra expense with their products in the long run. Also whoever created/developed those add on products should be very very wealthy as those aids are invaluable. Surely could have used their products but am so happy to know now!
Extra happy for you Mike that this opportunity has come your way. Wonderful help for you along the way with upgraded fencing chutes corrals etc.
Thx so much for sharing all this valuable knowledge as of late. You're the perfect person and ranch to showcase their products. A great thing to share some eats with that genius for his help and wisdom...
So pleased to see you on the five day
schedule. Can only help move things along. See ya tomorrow!
More video, less commercials.
You’re right, fencing is therapy.
Well, dang! That sure was better than any fence we ever put up. Nice. Very nice!
Great video.....another partnership is born. Thanks Keith. (Mike’s always up for a barter)
I’ve known Keith for 25 min and I love him
Seriously though, guy KNOWS what he’s talking about, and knows his product. Much respect.
He knows the ins and outs of any fence we put out of our facility in Van Buren, AR.
Fencing 101. Thanks Mike. Keeping it simple, keeping it real. Fencing, in particular barbed wire was an essential part of settling the American west . Keith is a great guy and good resource. See ya tomorrow.
We're glad you liked the video! Keith and the rest of #thefencepros share all kinds of tips and tricks on our Facebook page, website, and our newly started CZcams channel. Follow us today. facebook.com/bekaertfencing
Much more engineering than I'd thought. Fascinating. Thanks for taking me along.
LoL, what a great guy to come out give you a hand. Who knew that the teck on a fence could make it easier to place new stuff up. I am impressed. I helped my Father with fencing when I was young. My help consisted with me handing him diffrent tools when requested to do so. That is how young I was. Just loved spending time with my Dad. But I remember all the back breaking work it was, and we never seemed to think about bringing water with us. It was fun to watch. I hope you all are Safe and Healthy Much Love from Wisconsin, the Cheese head State
Good morning Mike , This video I believe is one of your best. Thanks for the time videoing this operation fence build.
This was a great video!!! Like they say "Your never to old to learn something new" Thanks Mike.
You're.
"The difference between knowing your shit and knowing you're shit".
Sorry Nic, could'nt resist.
Wow, I was thinking the very same thing.
Great Video Mike!! The biggest problem w/ wire fence is obtaining the optimum tension. This video helped me understand how to achieve that. Loving the "work week" vlogs!!! See you tomorrow.
It's all about your tension! Here is a video that demonstrates how to tension a fixed knot fence: czcams.com/video/4LSZINyWT_M/video.html
I've helped build a lot of fence in my life (I'm 76)... and that is one incredible fence... Good job!!
your fence is starting to look good , will see what the bulls think about it next. Enjoyed this video
Something very satisfying about a stretch of new fence. The tools may have changed but it's still a long days work.
Fencing has always been my favourite job on the farm for 60 years
Wow, you don't hear that very often.
After watching him work magic on that stretch of fence I may never volunteer to help put up fence again. He sure made that look easy! Thanks for showing us a very easy way to make a tuff job not so daunting!
That's why they are called professionals....I'll pay the extra and give them the job....."a mans got to know his limitations"....(Dirty Harry)
Keith can probably put up fence in his sleep at this rate!
MIKE, FYI when I was about 8 years old an old-time Cowboy build a quarter mile fence using wooden post. He put like a soup can over the top of each post. This kept the moisture from going down into the post. When i35 years old 5hat fence was still there and straight and tight. No one in my area had ever soup can over the top of their wooden post. That fence lasted almost 40 years. Since the post you are working with are in such good shape I wanted to tell you this so you could possibly put something over the top to keep the moisture out and fence strong.
Jeff Irons lt would gave to be a big can of soup😆
LOVE THAT FANCY SPLICER!💞
So much better than the news
I spent an entire summer as a kid fencing for my Uncle. Rebuilding fence during the day and chasing sheep back in the pasture at night and a temporary repair of the old fence break. The tools I had were a 51 Mercury, two fence hammers and a modified car jack. I should also mention the farm dog that loved to push the sheep she would keep them away from the rebuild area in the day and patrol the breaks at night.
Great video. Been putting up fence for 40 plus years and don't even want to know how many posts. There's still things to learn that make life easier.
I have a new appreciation for fences for cattle. Very interesting. Thanks Mike
I really enjoyed this. I’m central Virginia and our farm was 70 acres. I’m 78, so in my youth I helped with barbed wire. We used locust posts from the farm and hand stretched the wire and put the braces in every so many feet. Because we did not have a great temperature differential, (-10 to 110 F) we nailed them tight.
Didnt realize there was such a thing as high tensile barb wire. Good to know
Neither did I. It’s some slick stuff
We've been manufacturing high tensile barbed wire for years now. We make a 15.5 gauge and 14 gauge (which Mike has here). It's a little bit different to install but the maintenance down the road is much easier. Let us know if you ever have any fencing questions.
when my wife and I drive across country we love seeing farms and ranches that just makes us feel good I miss my grandparents every day
Good morning OWL! I appreciate every fence, good fences make good neighbours. My husband has built thousands of feet of every type of fence, I know how much work it is, how much skill is involved. The gripple is new to me, I like it!
I build fence for a living and always enjoy the possibility of learning something new or better. Good video with some good tips and "tricks". 👍
Thanks @Big Fish. We are in the midst of creating a new YT channel where we will share fence installation tips and tricks. Feel free to come follow our channel for future videos. And I'm sure we'll be back up to Mike's place for another trip. We had to give Keith a break!
My question is to Erin & Mike collectively. Are there other ranching families who enrich their lives & community in the manor you both have committed to? Everyone helping neighbors near or far.
Again thanks to your insights to the ranching life ups & downs. Keep your heart & heads held proudly
Ken
Keith was awesome! Learned so much.
We think so too!
Great video, Mike! What a nice man Keith is! Wonderful information...so interesting!!!
I'm sold on the gripple! Thanks mike.
We are too. Let us know if you have any questions on how to use them. They speed up the installation process quite a bit.
Thanks to you and all the farmers out there I sure do enjoy eating 😁
Wow. This was a great video for ranchers. Learn everyday. Thank you for shsring
25 minutes later and now I have a good idea how to build me a good fence, Oh.....nevermind , I live in a condo ! That guy sure made it look easy tho. Great video Mike !
I remember being a 18 year kid who never built a fence line. I then moved to the Sand Hill region of Nebraska. Thanksgiving Day, I got a crash course in fence line repair
Those fence stretches are wicked and can get hurt quickly. Wrapping the line around corner posts and nailing the heck out of them.
It was a fast learning experience as we had South Dakota yearlings coming into our corn fields for winter..
One thing I don't miss is breaking ice 2 times a day in the stock tanks. No heaters for them..
Fencing isn't easy, but if you ever need any tips you let us know!
I previously had some anxiety about putting up fencing at my future farm. This looks like it'll hold everything from chickens to full-grown bulls and every goat and sheep in-between. Even kids and dogs! I like this style fence so I'm sold!
When the time comes for your fence installation, let us know if you have any questions.
Good to see how the pros do it. Good video
One of my favorite things to do is fence. This is a great fencing product.
Fencing is a necessary evil..the end product is wonderful. Getting there was never a favored part of the process. LOL B
The right tools can make the job so much easier!
Good Morning to Our Wyoming Life
Although I will never need to put a fence up this was very interesting. Good to keep bulls off the highway!! You always make learning something new fun. Thank you Mike and see you tomorrow. 😎
My my, what a great bunch of new tools to stretch fence. No sore arms from pounding staples for days on end.. let’s hope the bulls learn to have a greater respect for the fence.
This was awesome especially coming from old school fencing
That fence is awesome!
I put up about 300 yards of Cattleman's Gaucho. Having never used high tensile wire before, at first I was reluctant, but once I saw how nicely it tightens, I think I'll be doing more.
Where did you put that up at? We'd love to see a picture! Share it with us on our Facebook page: facebook.com/bekaertfencing
You got yourself some good fencing. 👍
Good job I am getting ready to start putting up the fence on 25 acres in Tennessee so I am glad I seen this video
We are too! Let us know if you have any installation questions along the way Mitchell. We are working on getting all of our installation videos moved to our new CZcams channel. Check us out! czcams.com/channels/cRI4x_KHqXAejO-Tw6xpAg.html
Oh my thats so much easier than the way I did it 40 some years ago. AWESOME!!!
Awesome video, it would be awesome to have more videos like this where you bring partners specialized in certain areas of farming.
We used to put an electric shock wire on any fence that was along the roadside in addition to the same fence you just put up. Our posts were closer also for the cow and bull pastures, I think they were on 16-foot centers as best as I can remember. Everything else was the same, top, middle, and bottom of heavy gauge barbed wire and the heavy gauge 6" mesh or hog wire is what we called it. The electric shock wire run halfway up really worked great to keep them off the fence.
That was really neat. It was good to learn new things. That staple gun sounded like a demon.
Thank you Keith and Mike gor showing uz old and new way of fensing. I love learnjng new things tgat could b productive even if little lkkelyhood a 60yr ol woman will b putting up new woven or barbed wire. But gives me things to consider on small scale. Great vid.
Hello from Belgium ; home country of Bekaert.
Awesome materials and tools. Make building fence a lot easier !
I really like the idea of those grapple clips, could have used them about a month ago.... just did 660' of woven wire fence with a top and bottom stand of barb wire like yours!
Hey Mike, great video on fencing Keith is very knowledgeable and explains everything in detail so that you understand. You two make a great team very thorough you make sure that the job is done right the first time and I just love his southern accent. Don't beat yourself up Mike about building the fence before thats all you knew on how to build a fence just use it as a learning tool and move forward. So with that being said whats next for OWL keep up the good work and see you in the next video🤔🤠😉
Keith has a wealth of fencing knowledge. He's worked his way through our plant and now we've got him out in field sharing his knowledge.
WOW! Nice fence! should last a winter or two. Thanks for the great info on new tricks and products, really like that woven fencing .
Oh man, you get the pro help! I need to get my own channel lol
Two cliche's come to mind after watching this.
There are tricks to every trade. And
Necessity is the Mother of invention.
Keith from Bekaert knew the tricks and showed us some very interesting inventions. Good video, Mike.
This was very interesting to watch.
This is the best channel on CZcams there are other good ones but these people are talented hard working honest and kind and not perfect acting which makes them endearing
Awesome. First class job and product, fence work has improved since the days of a bucket of staples and and fence tool.
Farming has come a long way.
Great way to start my morning!
Good lookin fence!
Don't apologize. This was very informative. Also it will keep those bulls inside and safe. Hey, i liked this so much i watched this again.
Mike, thanks for sharing this I was greatly impressed how fencing is done today. I’ve done it the old way. Before and this is vastly superior.
14:33 "IF" a Bull gets out is a misnomer of animal husbandry and is accurately stated as "WHEN" a Bull gets out as the reality of
keeping those "beasts". Nose rings and heavily chained to the biggest tree trunk on the ranch will keep them where you left them. Of course in Wyoming you might have to import and grow the tree first. !! The fence look professionally installed.
Have a great day! Be safe!
Because of Mike and Baekart i bought 46 rolls of Baekart Gaucho 15.5 gauge hi tensil 4 barb wire . It looks awesome and holds tension wonderfully
That’s a nice fence and Keith is a nice guy I like how he insisted that he’ll want to purchase some steaks 🥩
We agree, Keith is one of the best in the bizz!
Well, couldn't come at a better time since I'm putting up some new wire and corrals. I really like those gipples and the local ranch store carries them. Way better than tieing off wire.
Way faster too! Let us know if you have any fence installation questions along the way.
Excellent video I learned something new those clips are amazing not to have toTwist wire that's hard work.
I have seen bovine brushes used to give dairy cattle a place to rub on. They really seem to get happy, almost see them smile when they use it. Have you ever thought about this for your cattle? Not sure if it would work well your cattle are spread all over the ranch. Where dairy cattle come in to get milked twice a day.
Even their bulls go crazy happy over it. They look like a big roller with bristles. It spins when the cattle starts to rub on them.
GREAT investment Mike 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Wow thats slicker than snot on a doorknob 🤠
Good Morning to Our Wyoming Life. Great job Mike from Michigan. Love the videos!
A great product and no smashed fingers
we built a 3 point attachment that is a pole that sits on a turntable and you can put a 660' roll on it and just get on the tractor and drive it down side the post to unroll the wire...just like he did with the barbed wire. Works Great and saves a lot of labor.
Wow this guy knows fencing and we learned about something again. Entertaining owl do I use fencing no but now I know for the future
loved the show!!! looking forward to the follow up. God Bless you all
10.55pm in Australia yah a new video
He’s got some nice tools ⚒️ 🛠 there. I wish you could put the Description of the tools up so we could get some. Thank you for another great video.
They are in the description
Here's a link to some of the tools that Keith used: fencing.bekaert.com/en/bekaert-fence-products/other-fence-products/gripple-products
Any specific tool you looking for? We are happy to share anything you saw Keith use. If you're talking about the Gripple products, here is a good link. fencing.bekaert.com/en/bekaert-fencing-system/gripple-and-bekaert and feel free to contact us through our website and I can ptu you in contact with Keith or any of our Fence Pros.
Not to mention in Oklahoma the armadillos and opossums will chew through the wire if they can’t dig underneath it or climb through it. The wire clamp I got works great for being minimum 50 years old works for 16ga to I think 2ga and has a retainer if it ends up slipping it’ll slide straight through.
I'm jealous. I did a major rebuild this spring. Our pasture fence was grown up in Hawthorns. Cool video
Only fence brand I use!!!
Now that's what we like to hear!
Love your channel. How about a video on the Bulls. What are they doing all day. Feeding checking on them etc. when there not with the cows. I’ll check your other videos incase i missed one
This is another part of the ranch life. Cool video
Nice toys. I always did it the old fashioned way. lol Nice fence
Very nice man pass in that perimeter fence
You live you learn. Outstanding video. Lots of info for my future life. Thanks.
Hey tell Keith to come do our south pasture!! We got badland country and steep hills we deal with. Very rocky country. 8,000 acers we tend to. Lots of fence. Lol ha!!
Mike you are a great 👪, ranch and those adorable animals care taker that you have brought up a mighty long way. I 💘 your videos and Channel too. Great to have others helping out ! I 🙏 🙏 that you all be safe from the virus, bad weather and the violence that's in your community. Be Safe. God Bless You All
We use hedge tree posts and t posts with barbed wire on fence in Kansas and then good old oil field pipe on our corners if not hedge posts depending on how the customer wants to go.
A buddy in Alberta made a scratching post in the field and can apply some meds to it and it also keeps the cows off the fence.
That is a much better way to fence. Cool.
