I have NEVER seen a review that not only incorporates a narrative through line into the review, but manages to explain significant portions of what the viewer needs to know through that flows well into explaining the history behind the subject. This might be one of my favorite reviews done on this site. I cannot wait to see what else you have to show.

Sonic 06 was a game that had SO MUCH potential. Like you see there was something there, which Sonic Project 06 proved. If they had more time to develop the game, it would have been one of the best Sonic games of that time.

And you can also try out the legacy of Solaris what is the Xbox 360 mod of Sonic 06 which really does improve on the playing experience and it's also much more complete then project 06 for right now the only thing we need right now for project 06 are the cutscenes the boss fights and the final level and then we'll play project 06 over the original game any day and Sonic 06 is like the modern version of Sonic adventure 3 that we should have if it wasn't Rushed but thanks to legacy of Solaris and project 06 they really do feel like Sonic adventure 3 when you start playing even the move sets for the characters will have references to previous Sonic games that came before and you'll definitely liked them once you give him a try and I promise you you'll never go back on Sonic 06 ever again for Xbox or PS3
Ok so, first of all, your art and animatics, amazing, genuinely unique and made this stand greatly above many video essay channels. The amount of effort you put into this cannot be understated.
Your script and storytelling, genius. The back and forth between yourself and future you, the imagery you used to paint a picture of each scene in-game, the way you broke down how the hype built up for the game and how development shattered, I cannot see anyone doing it better.
Your research was fantastic, especially for a retired fan. As an avid fan, I knew most of the development stuff, but the E3 stuff I had no idea about. You genuinely broke it down in a way that even young kids could understand, and your transition into recognizing the work fans have done to breathe life back into the game was heartfelt. It's something I relate to as one of the folks who worked on the Sonic Riders mods you may have seen online nowadays.
I cannot tell you how excited I am to see your next work. Excellent stuff through and through.
Here's a fun fact, if you listen closely, Dreams of Absolution is actually a remix of the Green Hill Zone theme. You may or may not have already known that, but it took me a long time to realize that, and it blew my mind when it did lol.
Also, wow, I just stumbled onto this video, but I'm blown away by how good it is. Fun framing device, expressive drawings, and well researched. You've only got two videos, but I'm already a fan.

Soooo I’m not the only one who grew up watching Sonic ‘06 cutscenes on CZcams having no idea about all of the chaos behind it! I was definitely one of those kids bopping their head to Sonic music like “Ska Cha Cha” & “For True Story” to the bewilderment of my family. Congrats on making all of this. I’m sure it was very time consuming but it’s definitely entertaining and educational! We all needed some Sonic 06 closure. Heh heh.

Oh my god I was NOT expecting this video to so well scripted, so well produced, so well EVERYTHING when I started watching. I think the fact that I got invested in the story of a sonic 06 retrospective of all things says it all here. That payoff with p06 and all other fan content had me grinning so hard
one of the best... OR THE BEST video regarding this game. I had the opportunity to play it in my xbox360 when I was a kid and it was my entrance to falling in love with this franchise and its world. Time passed and I stop following anything related to sonic... until one day I found one sonic song and think to myself "omg, I remembered this ost! It's Crisis City from the sonic game I used to play!" I directly go to youtube and search for the ost and listend to the whole thing, such a beautiful experience. At that moment I was 100% certain that Sonic 06 was the BEST sonic game of all the franchise because I remembered it from my childhood being so good... the shock when I found out that it was actually the worse game... omg. This video really encapsulates the feeling and the love that not only I have for this game but the whole sonic world, that some recent years I went back to. And the effort you put in narrating and boarding out the scenes that's so inspiring and incredible! I want to be a storyboard artist in the future so this was a big joy watching :) I'm waiting for your next projects! Thank you!!

I gotta admit this was one of the best videos I watched recently I love the back and forth between your future and present self and the way you made it into a timeline of sonic o6 from the announcement of the PS3 Xbox 360 and Wii to talking about the launch of the game was amazing plus how you talked about the story of the game I’ve always been interested in this game and was gonna pick it up a couple years ago but never did but this dive into the game has got me interested in Sonic again and also had to mention your art & animation it’s so cute and cool and I just love it I’m super excited for more videos from you amazing job!
35:00 so you may already know but fun fact that’s close to what it was supposed to be. Except at certain points Sonic and shadow had cut lines talking to eachother so it’s implied they also work together at certain points in crisis if not the full level

WHY DID IT TAKE SO LONG FOR THIS TO BE RECOMMENDED TO ME I SHOULD'VE SEEN THIS FRAME ONE ;-;
It was 2006 for me. CZcams literally just dropped. TrueSonic1 was uploading all of the sonic music, I had a GameCube and got a Wii as my next console, devastated that the new sonic game wasn’t on there but I was happy with Wii sports and Zelda TP. I listened to music and watched cutscenes I literally got a 360 just for this. I was gonna buy it and play it at my uncles whenever I visited but he offered to sell me his old 360 and that’s how I got my 360 and I’m so glad I did. Guitar hero had a grip on me after that.
So YOU had the red chaos emerald this entire time!
To those uninitiated, if you follow the timeline progression of all 7 emeralds in this game, the red one literally just comes out of nowhere during the final part.
...this earned you an instant sub, especially as somebody who loves 06, the characters are some of the best, the story was high stakes and epic, and i definitely had a few laughs playing it.. also with sonic x shadow generations bringing bacl kingdom valley, we MIGHT see are boy mephiles again.....Hopefully.

I played the multiplayer for Sonic 06 with my friend when we were kids and...I can't speak for her-idk how she felt, but I HAD A BLAST! All those times I...left her behind because she didn't know how the game worked and I realized I could bypass all the puzzles that were made for Co op with Shadow's Chaos Spear...Good times.
I love the angle you went at with this video, because you're right: You see the potential in this game. You see it's promise, despite all it's shortcomings.
Really makes you wanna bring that potential to life yourself (hell, I might be doing that exact same thing). I thought after all these years of 06 being around, that nobody would have anything new to say about it. It's...really nice to see someone say this game isn't worthless trash for a change and I appreciate it. Plus, the art and presentation for your narrative was a nice touch. You didn't have to do that, but you did and man does it pay off. I'm excited to see what you're cooking next!

I dunno who you are, but not even 5 minutes into the video I could tell the amount of effort you put into this video and I was filled with respect because I know how difficult and long it would have taken to record, edit, draw, storyboard and all of that stuff for this video. It was also enjoyable and reminds me that I actually really enjoyed Sonic 06 for what it was back when I first played it on the Xbox 360, even if it could have been even better as a game itself. (I also played Sonic and the Secret Rings on the Wii after too, and I enjoyed that story that I remember drawing scenes from the game on my notebook. I was a strong Sonic fan back then, so thanks for reminding me of those memories.)

I *was* going to subscribe, but then I realised I'd already done so today
This is a wonderfully mad video, though I can't help but forever feel a pain in my sou l because of gaming media's view on Sonic and how it's only very recently started to recover from that.
Knowing that you're going to rewrite it is a mildly worrying precedent, mostly because of the rabbithole of Sonic lore and timeline shenanigans. I've dedicated -not enough- way too many hours to the lore of the franchise, and on this game alone and how it handles time travel, and I still haven't reached a conclusion on the latter.
But more importantly there are some key things in this story that I really do appreciate, being the bond between Team Dark, (ESPECIALLY Omega, with his self proclaimed apathy, lashing out at Mephiles and slowly revealing the truth to Shadow), and the overt sadism of Mephiles, how he goes out of his way to try and to manipulate break every single character before achieving his final goal.
I also worry about common confusings over the nature of Blaze's inclusion in this game, which is fair. It's decided that Sonic Rush takes place after 06, but because the events of 06 happened, and the universe was essentially remade, people don't know if Blaze travelled through both time and space to help SIlver, or whether she was in the future to begin with, and that the pocket dimension she went into became the Sol dimension when the universe was remade
There's also Sonic Rivals being the new introduction for SIlver, and the implication that Eggman Nega is lying about being from the Sol dimension since he's a time traveller and never interacts with Sonic in the Rivals games unless disguised which is why Sonic doesn't recognise him and you sort've begin to realise just how overly layered this all is. Don't get me wrong, I thrive on this stuff, but if you choose to not think about any future games when writing, that's perfectly fine, I'll just be over here trying to figure out whether this series using Back to the Future or Dragon Ball Z rules
I am rather interested in hearing what you have to say next, I think you have a very informed perspective on this sort of thing that most people don't, or at least don't discuss often enough
There were two things I wanted to comment on though, just because you put a bit of focus on them
It's not ever really said that only one emerald is needed to travel through time, though you only need one for normal chaos control. It's eggman's machine that sent Team Sonic through time, and Mephiles is probably strong enough on his own (or at least with the combined power of himself and one emerald.
Also I think the chaos emeralds disappearing was just a straight up "okay they're not using them anymore remove the emerald models" I think they still have them. Chaos emeralds tend to disappear into hammer space sometimes, which I guess makes sense since characters can straight up absorb them
Not going to blame you for this one, but Eggman saying:
"Yes, I can finally complete my plans... Now that I have the Chaos Emeralds, and you... The Princess of Soleanna. That's all I need to revive the Flames of Disaster.", is actually a slight mistranslation, the original japanese line (as translated by Windii) reads as follows "The miraculous gemstones, Chaos Emeralds and you, the princess of Soleanna. and you, the princess of Soleanna. When everything is in place, the Flames of Disaster will be restored."
I thought you'd mention it again because you made reference to that specific scene in japanese, so kudos to you if you went out and read it for the future videos
If you do read all this amongst the coming flood of comments thanks to the grace of the algorithm, thank you for reading my little "um ackchewally" ramble, this series is such a big thing for me and seeing more people get into it and realise it's actually very cool is always uplifting and a little vindicating

I saw a Tumblr post a while back about the Japanese idiom behind Blaze's "blue hedgehog" line and it makes me excited to see what else the Japanese translation has to offer ✨

I just want to say I'm in love with this era of Sonic and I'm so glad you're giving it recognition and diving into the massive potential that this game has. I can't wait to see what you come up with!! This video is also an amazing dive into the production history and really shows how relevant crunch culture has always been and still is to this day... and the HOUR LONG of storyboarding and editing??? holy cow??? it's amazing!

If you think that I watched the entirety of this video in one sitting, eat a whole bag of chips like popcorn in cinema and NOT share this with every single one of my Sonic friends, you'd be dead wrong!
You, mate, have a very good future ahead of you. This video proves it! The whole time I was absolutely engrossed in the review, and the plot of you going back in time with your future self had me intrigued too! I even got to learn stuff about the production, when typically my attention span is not all that strong for these kinds of things. And that P-06 mention?? At this point my grin was going through the roof and I could not stop it!
To be quite honest, there's so much more things that I love about this review: the pacing, the comedy; but if I were to mention EVERY single good thing about this experience, theeen we'd be here for at least 2 hours. I don't even know if this comment is too much, but I can't help the excitement! It's no use!
So I'll try to make this conclusion be on the simpler side. This video? It's great. It is sincerely so incredibly great. I'll be sure to spread it around as you deserve lots of recognition, I wish you the best of luck on your future endeavours.

I've played through the game with legacy of Solaris and I see the vision,same with p06 I really hope this video gets more attention because it's great,keep up the great work!

I can't tell you how much I relate to your story of pretending sonic characters came to our world.
Goodness you're making me emotional and I've only been a Sonic fan for like two years! Can't wait to see what you do with 06's story! It can be a bit of a mess sometimes, but overall I love this wacky little game. (ESPECIALLY Shadow’s campaign!)

4:41 I swear everyone dogpiled on this game when they were given the chance simply just because it had "bugs" which is something every video game in existence has but people didn't seem to understand that for Sonic 06 and thought it was a good idea to take a huge crap on the game at the time.
