- In this video, I'll be be guessing wether musical excerpts come from classical music or from video game soundtracks. Some of these orchestral compositions are of outstanding beauty. I have 3 lives. Will I lose them all?

Im curious how many people will criticize me for saying WWWagner instead of "V"agner lol
I already have it. I've had it since I was 5
@@brothercuber3288same, but I developed it a year ago
Why isn’t it working!!!??? 😭
i want my perfect pitch 😭😭
@@randompersonh Dont worry guys it will come :)
I think the problem with this quiz was that the classical pieces were way too famous and the video game soundtracks were a bit too static so it was relatively easy to tell them apart. Anyways, great video!
Maybe I just need a harder list😂
@@ViolinMechaniclol lets whip out the Beethoven piano sonata number 21 or something (idk if that even exists)
You are so underrated
I immediately recognized Danse Macabre because I've listened to it so many times. Romance from Arise did trip me up.
I also recognized Dance Macabre. I played the violin beginning in mini ensemble last year and listened to it a lot because of that.
For some reason the arise one was the easiest for me. The second I heard the piano my brain was 100% confident it's video game music. Don't know why, honestly. The only one I got wrong was the chaconne but that might be because I don't listen to baroque music much
you should do one for classical music vs film soundtracks! depending upon which films are chosen, it could be tricky!
I also have 1 life left. Died at Danse Macabre (which is very embarrassing because I play it on the piano) and at Chaconne in G Minor. The other one you died on I got it in like, 2 bar after piano came in. Probably because I’m a pianist but I’m very sure there exist no classical piano piece with that simple left hand especially with other instruments.
Danse Macabre is very popular for the opening violin tritones. not for that harp :/
I think its really easy to tell if somethings video game/film music or classical based on orchestration and harmony alone.
Ludwig van BETHVEEN , new contemporary composer😅
I was wondering who else would notice lol
I'm surprised I got it all correct. For some reason, the Romance seemed too "simplistic" for me (not to say all Romantic Era pieces require a cannon, but it just had a twinge of modern composition, and I can only think to contribute it to its simplicity). Overall, it was very interesting to see the classical influences on video game music... plus, the improved editing made it more engaging to watch. Also, nice to see your channel grow by 2k in about a month (no one could've deserved it more)! 🎉
The fact that it was so simple also tripped me up cuz im like "well, it has to be something modern like Arvo Pärt's spiegel im spiegel.
For me it was the when the piano came in. You can't get that "soft" sound while also have it stand out that much if it were a live orchestra (unless you do some multi-mic stuff, but either way there's mixing involved). The reverb is quite audible too. Further more, the melody and harmonies did not feel like the romantic style, at least those of Ravel and Debussy. It also just sounds like it was written to be a soundtrack; once you listen to many of them (of the same style) you start hearing some of the similarities, like their orchestration for example.
I guesses the romance correctly because somehow it sounded like the piano was added above the orchestra. I don't know if it was my imagination or not.
Yeah, re-listening to it, I can hear it too!
For the second one i had the same thought. Classical music wont hold one drone that long.
I played Shostakovitch 8th quartet a couple of times. Can confirm the psychopathic angry vibe.
7:58 sounded like a slow movement of a rachmaninoff piano concerto yeah
We are playing Coriolan overture in youth orchestra lol
are you violin 1 or 2?
We played Danse macabre last year lol
i play double bass lol@@ViolinMechanic
Love that accent at the start😂
7:56, I only got it right because of the sound quality of the piano. Lol! For some reason pianos in video games and movies always have a different tone to them.
True the acoustics and mixing was sus.
This was fun!
How many did you get right?
@@ViolinMechanic I got 2 wrong and 1 was unanswered because I had kids in the background and the answer came up before I guessed. Lol
Love your vids
Thank you so much for subscribing:) Glad you're enjoying the content. Ill definitely check him out!
When chaconne started I really thought it was Koyaanisqatsi by Philip Glass though it is neither game nor classical piece.
Oh my gosh only 18k?! I thought you had millions of subscribers 😂
Thanks, I truly appreciate it:)
I mean, with the Romance from Arise you can immediately tell that this is produced music from the piano sound, which is kind of a give away. The Danse Macabre one is far to soft in Dynamics for video game music, so again one can tell.
I was thinking the same too! It was the orchestration that tripped me up for Danse Macabre
Why were most of these pieces giving me Skyrim vibes?? 😂
Skyrim has amazing soundtracks!
was confused by Romance but i guessed it right. only got Call of Duty wrong
The COD was tricky, it really sounded like contemporary music.
6:27 ah yes my favourite composer *BETHVEEN*
Hahahaha was wondering if someone would notice :)
a video suggestion if possible. i saw one of your videos earlier where you and someone with you played violin either without sight or hearing. that got me curious how long it would take someone like you to learn a entirely new piece purely by sound since i imagine people always rely on what is seen on paper
Great idea! What song should I cover?
if i were to lob a song idea it would have to be a song i have been practicing called Johans Waltz, though i only recommend this if you have no fear of potential copyright as its from a videogame from around 2010. otherwise you by far have a wider knowledge of music pieces than i do so would say go for any songs you havent played before, and if youre daring enough, for any songs you find that you have not even heard yet! :D
Only got 1 wrong. I’m am classically trained in video game music 😂
You should react to Roman Kim's "J. S. Bach - Air [Violin Solo]" and "Roman Kim - I BRINDISI"!! These pieces are also so insane and as a violinist I loved your reaction and appreciation for his level of skill in your "I Found PAGANINI 2.0 (!!)" video!
Thank you I appreciate it! Yes! These are definitely on my to do list!
Part 2 pls
Maybe at 500 likes:))
There is one thing I'd like to note to you which is please try to project the sound from your violin a little bit away from the mic. The room you record in is rather small already. Project your sound right into the mic is not a good practise. Otherwise, nice content!!
Thanks so much for the suggestion, yeah I've been noticing that the quality of audio is mediocre, ill try to back up a little more next time:)
Why do I have a feeling genshin's gonna be here
... it's not😂
Im sorryyyyy :)
@@ViolinMechanic it's alright ahahaha
Catherine has a lot
🇨🇦👍
The Arise one I guessed videogame because sounded like Bruckner, but he was an organist not a pianist 😅😊
It sure did sound like Bruckner:)
You should listen to Genshin Impact's Fontaine music. They got some amazing classical vibe to it.
Ooo thanks for the suggestion, ill go check it out!
Did you really not recognise the Vitali chaconne ? I think you must be taking the micky ha,ha
Haha sometimes it’s the accompaniment that gets me
I was like, "What the F k ? Nah, he must be taking the piss " 🤣😂😂😂@@ViolinMechanic
Vitali Chaconne is one of my favourite pieces!!
Let's gooo. I got only one wrong!!
P.S. It was the same one that you guessed wrong...
Hahaha yeah it seems like those ones were cursed lol
It was the Danse Macabre. I didn't actually recognize it since I haven't heard it recently.
Btw that second one was pretty hard but it seemed to me a little bit more video game-like. Anyway it was actually a great video. Keep it up.
P.S. Still can't believe you didn't recognize the opening lines of vitali chaconne
do Americans really say Wagner with a W?
I don't lol
No 😅
Yes, because they are unaware of the proper pronunciation of anything.
No. I pronounce it like Vagner. Never recall hearing it pronounced Wagner with a "w" sound unless the person was joking around. Plus, isn't he Canadian? Unless you mean American as in North American.
@@scabbedwings6548 ah, in that case let's make it North, Central and South so as to be all-encompassing :p
People please stop looking at prodigies like they are gods at violin. Trust me, most prodigies cant properly play the pieces they are given and when you look at that one prodigy violin mechanic reviewed, she cant play pieces like pag 1 in tune a properly. Like so what if she can play it decently. Musicians strive for perfection not mediocrity. Its better to play an easy piece amazingly than to play a hard piece sloppily.
Wagner is pronounced Vagner now wag.ner
Watch the anime "Your Lie in April" and review it and give your honest opinion on it
Please
The fact you got Danse Macabre wrong is lamentable...
And no, that Romance was very obviously not classical.
I know... I would have instantly recognized it if I hear the opening tritone violin intervals lol
You are so underrated
I've never seen him rated at all, so I guess that's correct.
