I have read the story of Christ by Ann Catherine Emmerich, which is the basis for the movie, although not identical to the movie. It is the most realistic portrayal of the passion of Christ that I have ever seen. It may seem to be anti-semitic, but the truth is that it is the leaders of the Jews, the pharisees, that wanted Jesus dead. They were expecting a Messiah, but what they were expecting was a worldly king. Jesus was not the king they expected. What he promised was the Kingdom of Heaven for those who followed him, not worldly success. Even his apostles and disciples many times did not understand him. Although after his death and the coming of the Holy Ghost on Pentecost, they understood him.

The movie ''The Passion of the Christ'' shows a terribly sadistic work that was far from the truth about Jesus´ crucifixion !!! He was not slaughtered as the movie predicts, he never went on his knees during the flogging and it did NOT cover his whole body only his back. This movie was a vendetta against the Jews, and it is revolting. I only watched the beginning as it made me sick to see the sadism portrayd there.
