OMG really? REALLY??
OH THANK JESUS IN HEAVEN! We FINALLY got to the bottom of the "Magic Eraser Mystery." I can finally sleep soundly again. Now If only the "Shamwow enigma" was exposed...
One mystery at a time!! This is too much already.
Yeah, please. I'm not ready yet to handle the guy who said with the Slap Chop commercial, "You're gonna love my nuts!" Please, I'm not jacked on java...yet!
It's a russian collusion
@brenda hornWow I knew it was a sham!
That was dry.
I run a cleaning company n let me tell u,the magic eraser has made my job SO much easier than the regular rag n suds!
*Good for you. I always believe in working Smarter, not Harder.*
Great on tubs & soap scum
I've tried several Magic Erasers and found them to be a complete failure on anything I used them on. A simple rag works better
I was buying the generic melamine sponges and they were so cheap I didn’t realize the quantity I ordered. I got a hay bale sized shipment 😊 I shared them with everyone in my family and they all use them now
sounds like a welcome mistake ... do they work well?
Did you have to do anything to them or are they just straight melamine sponges?
They work great. My dad thinks they break down a little faster than Mr Clean but I don’t notice. The only thing I would suggest is ordering the thicker size. They come in different mm thickness and the big fat ones ARE more sturdy. I bought thousands of them for like $20 so I can’t complain. I even let my daughter rip some up for fake snow
@@riannonzemak8134 they do break down slightly faster but they're so much cheaper and do the same job. Way better value than the brand ones
I can't bail those sponges anymore
(Look at the original comment again)
When AliExpress first came out, I ordered a 500 pack of sponges like this for $5, believe it or not. It came in a box the size of a microwave oven and it was free shipping. I was blown away, and still have over 200 left. But, the sponges are about half the size of the magic eraser and they seem to crumble a little easier than the real thing. But also for the cost per unit, I am way ahead of the game. My biggest concern is completely unrelated to the product and more of a shipping and international issue.
😂
You smell that? That's the smell of desperation and ad revenue.
My sister thought she'd do something nice for me and decided to wash my car, using a Magic Eraser as the sponge. She took the finish off the roof, front hood and trunk lid of my 1972 Chevy Chevelle.
Ouch!
hhairball9 - Those are grounds for divorce.
@@grapas100 divorce his sister... 🤦♀️
@@SaysWho - You didn't know, they're from West Virginia.
When they first came out, Magic Erasers didn't fall apart as easily as they do now 😏.
It works like extremely fine microgrit sandpaper with a sponge attached. You can fuck up cars, windows, and anything shiny, smooth, or otherwise untextured. The untold truth is that carelessness or lazyness cause actual damage to things. People never talk about that part.
Been using them for years. Never had any small bits fall off them and they last longer than depicted in this video. Simply wet them first then wring out the excess water. Love them for cleaning the kitchen tiles.
Me too!
same here - they shrivel a little, but I get several uses from one before it's dead - I haven't had any disintegrations
The heck you buying them from? Are they super Magic Erasers?!
MadHouse736 * Right? They fall apart when I use them to clean my shoes or scrub my stove with them.
Since I don't clean whole walls, they last quite a while. I only dampen the end I'm going to use.
Didn't the Chinese sell us dog food with Melamine mixed in?
$1 for Magic Eraser or $300 for wallpaper to be replaced. I say a $1 purchase is an absolute bargain!
Or, you can use silly putty to clean your wall paper. Cost about the same but you can reuse silly putty.
Look it up, silly putty was originally designed to clean wall paper but kids found it works better as a toy. So they remarked it as a toy.
Who still has wallpaper?
Timothy Hinton - most of Europe. They use it to cover the cinder blocks that they have as walls.
Auntie M Is it not possible to plaster over those? Wall paper seems hard to maintain.
Same here, brother!
Lol! Rule 1, spray a cleaning solution and let it sit for 10 minutes, Rule 2, scrub with melamine foam. Result= clean, like really clean. I own a cleaning company with several recurring clients. I always use a cleaner depending on the surface, then the eraser. The life span of the foam will be three times longer this way.
Personally not big on cleaning myself but did buy a Magic Eraser to remove a scratch on a large flatscreen TV .It worked fantastic and now you can't even tell there used to be a four inch long scratch at one time .I was sold on M.E
So you don't clean up? Your Nasty
Thanks for cluing us in about an inexpensive replacement for them. (Discovering that they're mildly abrasive makes me glad I decided not to use them on the knobs on my kitchen range which, while as expensive as all getout, seem to lose their numbers all to easily!)
When I was in kindergarten, I was so scared of Mr Clean... I’m in 6th grade and still scared. DO NOT use the eraser on texture wall, because it will peel off the paint....
This product was the only thing that would remove the dirt from my bathtub! Worked magic and wonders for me!
Amazingly, I tried the eraser on mechanics grease that had gotten on my blazer (wool) and it took it out! Then, I used it on mold that had gotten on my leather coat that was in the back of the closet....the mold came off like a charm! I buy the double pack generic at Dollar Tree. Mine tend to last long enough for the use I get and I don't have to mix up any "stuff" to get the same effect.
I just used this for the first time on my tub and it was better than scrubbing bubbles! I'm sold!
If you wet them then wring them out, they last a long time. More than 1 use, for sure!
Thank goodness for this product. Saved me a lot of headaches.
One major issue is with dogs, our dachshund like to chew things up, and a tiny little pieces, it got lodged in her intestines, she eventually passed away from that and one of those string chew toys from the store.
Excellent video, I had no idea why those things work. FYI they also strip wax off the floor when cleaning a spot.
Good to know about the bulk foam, since this is a P&G product. I refuse to buy anything that company produces now!!!
I would find chunks of it on the ground in tweekers houses, I guess it's the preferred method of cleaning meath pipes. Who would have known.
I worked at a movie theater and we had touch screens at the concession stand. We had about 7 stations. Somebody used one of these on the screens and the abrasive nature of the magic eraser damaged all the screens LOL. The touch screens touch sensors stopped working. All the screens had to be replaced.
I feel like you just saved many (including myself) from certain disaster. I'm blown away that it broke all of the screens. Now I know the power of the Magic Eraser! 😂
Touching Magic Erasers gives me the same feeling as nails on a chalk board! I always have to wear gloves when I use them. Just watching the videos of people touching them makes me uncomfortable! They really are great though!
Feels great to me, soft and squeezable!
Love Magic Erasers, only thing that works on my bathtub and tile! Even the steam mops failed to do what magic erasers accomplish in minutes. Great on soap scum, hard water stains, calcium deposit, and even rust. I use both the off brand and Mr. Clean and both work the same...
These guys are running out of ideas.
I second that.
@GJ Lelliott Same level of content quality if you ask me.

Yeah, nonetheless ,it's a pretty good product, and an interesting vid.

Lol "False advertising!!!"
I heard the best way to clean the needle of your turntable is by lightly dropping it a couple times on a dry magic eraser.
It’s more of a sander then a cleaner. It scratches way to easy on some surfaces
When I was four, I drew on my face with marker. My parents thought it would be fine to rub that magic eraser on my face to get it off. Horrible. It was like sandpaper was being rubbed on my face. My face looked burnt and red for several days. Lol.
This stuff is basically 2000 grit sandpaper. I am a piano technician and use it on piano keys when kids use markers and sharpies to write the notes on the keys.
Maybe it would work for nicotine stained keys as well? I have an old rescue piano with yellow keys.
They ruined my walls - yup got the stain out but left very visible glossy spots
Did you wet the sponges first?
YUP sure did!
I've scratched glass with them.
I used one of these of a different brand (we don't get this specific one in the UK, or at least I don't believe we do) to get rid of some strange sticky substance from one of our walls. Now I know what it does, I can fully understand why it stripped the paint from the wall. Oh well, it needed repainting anyway...
In the UK it's Called Mr Proper I think . Orange Box
To remove Sharpie or other permanent marker from you soon just use 99% isopropyl alcohol it should dissolve it pretty much instantly. Same goes for non porus surfaces like your cars pain. The marker will rinse right off. This was a really interesting video.
If ur careful, and just make a couple of gentle swipes, they are the fastest and most effective exfoliant I have ever encountered. The unquestioned top of the list of ways to clean painted sheetrock, especially on, and around light switches and doorknobs, lastly, after letting your lime-away - or other acidic calcium deposit remover - work for a few minutes, one of these is just the right grade of abrasive to “sand off” any remaining micro-schmutz stuck to the tile or glass or whatever; but you DO have to keep applying the acid until it stops fizzing or foaming, because it reacts with the lime scale (which is alkaline) and in the process it neutralizes, ceases to be acidic, and stops working, so you have to “test” the surface with some fresh acid to see if it still fizzes or foams (it turns white), only then do you know that it’s all gone.
I take a magic eraser into the shower with me and scrub the walls and shower knobs and tub while I'm showering.
It's a 2 for 1 😂
I swear I thought I was the only person that did this! LOL!!!

The sound in the narrator's voice about the whole gluten question reminds me...I know people so sensitive to gluten that they cannot touch it or they break out.
The most common disposable diapers had my daughter's nether regions breaking out as well as my wife's hands. I also have a cousin who cannot touch a counter surface where a piece of bread just lay without having to wash her hands before she breaks out.
So just be aware, it's not just a matter of ingestion.
In all of my 58 years on earth, I've never met anyone that sensitive. Im guessing that this condition is quite rare, like 1 in a million.
I purchased a magic eraser today and it does not work! I usually clean my grout with baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, vinegar and tossed in some borax per your recommendation. The magic eraser came in handy so I could apply my cocoon. I bought the magic eraser thinking it would be magic, it's not! Sticking to my concoction when it comes to cleaning my bathtub and shower..
My daughter has Celiac's, thanks for the head's up! 😁😉
this video made me get out of bed at midnight after 3 beers to scrub my bathtub with one of these bad boys
Thanks for sharing 🌻
Ah no wonder it works so well. It’s abrasive 😮
After using this sponge cleaning my mirror, I wiped the makeup off from under my eyes (from sweating) and (i only used water with it) . Bags under my eyes started to get red and started to burn!! Also it cut my skin somehow!!
I’m still recovering.
I believe particles or whatever rubbed onto my fingers as I was cleaning my mirror and that’s the reason I got scraped under my eyes
If you have kids then the magic eraser is a lifesaver and worth the cost!
When I dye my hair I use a magic eraser to remove any hair dye on my neck ears or face...just don't scrub....it will remove ur skin
evilbilla Ive done that too.
Do somebody know how sustainable magic razer is, the particles will never disappeared and end up in the osean or?
Please do a video on greedy companies making things smaller and charging the same price (i.e. toilet paper, cleaners, chips etc.)
Lightly scrub your grout with these pads each time before mopping your tile floor and keep grout like new.
I notice you guys don't put in any credits for the clips you use. You should do that.
I bought a 50 pack of store brand off Amazon for $14.98. I'm still working my way through them very slowly.
Love it. Just found another use. Had a food stain on my nice white shirt. Took that stain right out.
I hadn’t heard about the fabreezing of the dogs rumor. Good thing because every once in a while they need it. 🐕🐕
I tried the Magic Eraser and it didn't have any Magic? My arms were sore after scrubbing so much!
I don’t believe this story
You shouldn't use them like they show here, That uses them up in one go. Tear off small pieces and use them as needed and they last for ages
$7.00 + at Target - didn't work with my bathtub stain - returning it.
I've tried using vinegar and baking soda for cleaning and it just never works. But stupid things like the magic eraser do. I kinda wonder if I'm using them wrong
I also used vinegar and baking soda to clean in the past, then I read an article (provided below) that explains how vinegar is an acid and baking soda is a base so when mixed together they cancel each other out and your basically left with a kind of salty water, to be exact it makes sodium carbonate, and sodium acetate.
Check out the link, the article is pretty good!
The Cleaning Mistake I Didn't Know I Was Making (But I'm Going to Keep Doing Anyway) | Apartment Therapy www.google.com/amp/s/amp.apartmenttherapy.com/the-science-behind-baking-soda-and-vinegar-cleaning-244098
Kay is right. Baking powder and vinegar just looks impressive, when they are mixed they make a salt.
You use the vinegar to clean with. It is a mild acid. It will break down dirt, grease and such. It also makes the environment acidic. Preventing mold and bacteria from growing. If you have an exceptionally soiled area to clean, first use the vinegar. Scrub. Then speinkle the baking soda. It brings out the microscopic bits of "dirt" from the carpet, cloth, or qhatever you are cleaning. If it is stained, you can scrub with vinegar. Pour a coating of baking soad. And let sit. The baking soda will absorb the dirt. You will see it turn from qhite, to black. When dry, vacuum up!
Vinegar and baking soda are the best cleaners you can use! With practice and experience, you realize its truly all you need. My grandma cleaned everything with it!.
What I find works is putting up a paper towel to what needs cleaning, spraying vinegar on it till the paper towel is soaked and sticks to the surface then let it soak for hours, occasionally spritzing it to keep it wet. Then wiping the surface clean. As to baking soda, I use it as a grit while cleaning or to neutralize the acid of the vinegar when wiping the surface clean.
@@johnwang9914 Thats a great tip! Ty
None of this is surprising or mysterious but imagine citing Snopes as an authority on anything.
I was rubbing a pen mark off my wall, the paint also rubbed off! It was another brand though..
Another cleaning product secret: Pledge floor gloss can, when applied to the joints on action figures or fashion dolls, tighten up the joints. if the joints are loose. Pledge floor gloss used to be called Pledge Future Shine floor wax. If that doesn't work, or if it's a ratchet or friction joint like a thigh or shoulder, try using a length of fishing line and wrapping it around the post inside the joint.
Any product sold with the word " MAGIC " in its title or description, BUYERS BEWARE.
I swear Mr. Clean gets all the snu snu

Wow...just,never expected a cleaning product...
Yea here is the deal we use these things and i say things house keeping uses these on the walls where i work and i wind painting the walls after they do it get the mark off but leaves a spot were you use it .just my pinion . I don't like them at all
at the end of the mr. clean commercial his last chord was “ the finger” he gave to the audience😲
Well. That sucks. But... It's my most important thing for my home cleaning business. If I was stuck on a dirty desert island and only could have one thing- the magic eraser would be it! It cuts the time waaay down and if you didn't have any spray cleaner it would still be able to get the job done. If you had to
Rubbing alcohol works best on markers...less scrubbing involved. I love the eraser for removing adhesive left on jars and bottles after soaking off labels...far superior to googone.
Ooh good tip
It will takes scuffs off of cars as well....as long as it is inly paint transfer from another vehcile...works good...but only use on small areas..because they are abrasive
it's all about BIG PROFITS with a cheap product. You can get the same results with a rag and water and sometimes a bit of a mild soap.
Thanks for this
I have literally never heard of this product before.
Great vid!
So it's basically a piece of slightly abrasive foam that lasts for a single use, and it's the abrasiveness that makes it clean well? Why not spray cleaner and use a standard foam sponge ?
Magic Eraser really is fabulous. I love it.
sold by many different names and companies now, I like to get huge packs of the 1 inch cubes from a store called Daiso, sort of like a Japanese dollar store, super cheap and they last ages, and work great for dog saliva on their dish. But I do know first hand DO NOT USE TO CLEAN YOUR PLASTIC MICROWAVE DOOR the panel may look like glass but the glass is behind a very easy to scratch plastic sheet, the magic eraser types will scuff the shit out of that plastic. Stick to hard surfaces like glass, ceramic, steel, and so forth.
Awesome! It's gluten free, I can eat it with confidence.
I did an allergic reaction to magic eraser that had febreeze in it. So did my daugther be cause i cleaned the bath with it. During 3 days. Wrote to mr clean on facebook. They sent me a 5$ prepaid credit card....
Wait even after rinsing the tub or did you not rinse?
i've been ordering bulk erasers on ebay for years. $20 gets you a big cube of them. they don't even put it in a box... it's just a brick of foam with plastic on it lol
When I use them, I cut them into to 4 pieces. The squeezing seems to break them down faster. My shoes only require one piece at most.
Always use gloves. After using them for hours on walls. Oh by the way I'm a cleaner. 🤣 Your hands will feel like they have tiny cuts on them
Look up the chemical components it IS LITTLE CUTS ON YOUR HANDS
Google" how does magic eraser work" trust me I DO IN FACT HAVE LITTLE CUTS
I got to test or use a magic eraser prior to its release on the market.
Snopes is such a joke. Published the manufacturers statement for why it's safe, what a shitty world we live in.
I don’t know those cheap ones just don’t clean as well and the disintegrate WAY faster. Seriously bucket to box tested. Now I never mixed in baking soda and whatever else he said, but it was no name vs Mr. Clean
Crystal M Agree. I've had the same experience.
I was going to buy some of these until I watched this video.
The 2007 pet food recalls? That was Melamine the same stuff used to make magic erasers.
Takes the paint off my walls
My friend is allergic to something in them. He had to wear gloves when using them else his hands or skin anywhere he has an allergic reaction, his hand got all red and a bit swollen and said it itched and hurt. If guess it one of the cleaning chemicals
Yeah right.... I'm going out to get pound borax and pound of baking soda and then trying to find some melamine. Then cut it in rectangle shape (heck let's go for the full shape effects: stars, triangles, circles, octagons and snowflakes) then find a secret secure location so the kids won't eat it.
Or, you can go to the store and save yourself a lot of headaches.
00:07 *pause, turns to gray, slow zoom in as sad piano music plays*
I bought off brand magic erasers and they don't work the same.
Good Night Irene! Who was the idiot who tried to eat the Magic Eraser? Did they forget what aisle of the grocery store they were in?
You know, it could be!
