I agree with Collette, beautiful house, beautiful grounds, lovely people!.. & my observations are from afar! The bucolic views are amazing! You work so hard in the restoration and upkeep, it’s nice to see that you make time to relax as well! I always find it interesting how you handle any work done with an ecological and historical approach.

You have done so much, just don't let the time get by you with your sweet babies. You have such a beautiful family. You all taking such care in preserving the history of the estate, I love the history. You both are exceptional humans. You work so hard. I will be catching up and watching you and your wonderful family. Thank you for sharing your life with 🇺🇸 us.

The straw added to the lime and sand mortar looks very nice but think putting a coat of lime plaster (mortar) like Marc suggested is a great idea. I think the mice might just chew thru that. Canadian mice will chew thru anything and everything. Glad to see the videos back.

It might also be worth filling in the whole gap over the beam. Having the little "shelf" will be inviting for any animal to make a home out of the rain. I'd also do the same thing to the two windows either side as well

@@Lea-bw9wj ~ You have a good point about the ledge being a place for critters to perch out of the weather and dig holes when they get bored. We put up wire to close off a squirrels entrance they made. So the squirrels chewed through wood beside the wire in eves in the garage to get to their nest inside. They are determined little buggers.

I suspect with your birds and pig you will attract lots of rodents. Set up your camera at night where your chickens are and you will probably find rats. Very destructive and difficult to get rid of without killing them as they are so leery. Had one in our garage and it took 5 weeks to finally kill it. We have poison here that only kills the rodent but we put it with peanut butter, bacon drippings and it would not eat it. Finally died in a trap. They are so smart compared to mice.

There were so many things that I LOVED about this video!!! 1. The reconstructed introduction!!!! This intro was what intrigued me at the very beginning of your vlogging and now you've incorporated Juliette (wonderful video of J laughing in the hay cart)! It's absolutely charming and it captures you and the project so well. 2. Adonis' editing with the secret camera dormouse footage, esp. behind the end credits is fantastic. 3. The wrap-up chat at the end in the bed of the all-terrain vehicle (with Clément tossing hay!) was so good for many reasons - you all got to talk about what you had accomplished that day (good recap) and then the family is all together with your guest, and the closeups of Juliette are precious. Really good filming and editing, Adonis - and well done Amy & Marc! Now, since this was filmed in Oct. 2022, was the wattle and daub treatment successful through the winter?

I am so pleased that an Angel, of a person, stepped in to be a beneficiary for the two of you, and the Chateau!
I enjoy your video's so much! Your natural charm and humor, is so wonderful and refreshing.
I have said before that your combined experience , knowledge and expertise from various Degrees and hands on experience, is what drew me to your channel.
The glamorous video's, where there is a crew and a lot of money to pretty them up, are fun to see, but they didn't keep me interested or pull at my heartstrings. Yours did it all and makes me laugh out loud one minute and rewind several times to take notes.
☆Not to say they aren't doing a great job and filling a spot many people enjoy, including myself.
You and Mark do a brilliant job at explaining ( in terms we can understand!) your techniques. Such as in today's. I love knowing how to prevent pest/ rodents from getting in. I do wish Mark would look after his safety a bit better! I was telling him "to wipe his eye carefully", because I could see Lyme splattered on his eyelashes! I loved when you showed how to make tiles and natural pigment paints, and plastering... Then you add the heart warming parts of your life.
I felt the need to tell you both how I think you are just wonderful, and to say " you are really doing a top notch job at being a CZcams channel personality"! You are truly doing an amazing job of keeping it true to you and your family's needs!
All the best to you in this New Year and very many more,

It’s funny people noticed a change here because Adonis filmed and edited about 8 videos before December too! I thought they were pretty good but apparently this one was another level!

@@Chroniclesofrosieres perhaps it was a flashback to better weather and a sunnier outdoors video, I think it makes a difference. Either way I think what you and Marc did yourselves was brilliant anyway and I sincerely wish you both every continued success and I noticed yesterday your numbers were at 29k today they are at 30k. That’s fantastic !

A mask is needed when dealing with animal waste. How charming your patron visitor is, and helpful. Your family is adorable!

Great episode! But I think my favourite part of it all is hearing the words, wattle and daub. It’s inspirational to think of the technique you used and demonstrated in today’s video being used to build houses for hundreds if not, thousands of years. Part of the educational and utterly charming value of watching your channel.❤

Love my time with your family. Maybe a mask? Breathing in a lot of dust and spores from droppings while brushing the debris out. I just care. XoXo

I think I have one of those mice with the frilly tail. It looks like a very small squirrel, but a little bit Red. It comes out at night to my birdfeeder. Thank you, this video was very enjoyable.

caulking. You need to lime render it really; because creatures will still go through. You can get Hemp now from Builders merchants in France now? My neighbour has just done the interior walls in her converted barn and the difference in acoustics and warmth is amazing.

We’ll render in the spring I think. We did it a bit late in the year so were concerned if we covered it before it dried it would go mouldy.
