    Dude you need to do a “how to video” for all the other knowledgeable people who are kind enough to produce “how to” videos…great explanation, no extra blah blah blah. Awesome.

    Straight to the point, no wasted time, great explanation, detailed with no fluff. More of what you are working on should be in the shot. Also, if we are watching these videos, we probably don't have a lift, showing the at home garage style of doing things would be better.

    Great video!!! I'm about to do a swap out the bottom and have a few questions that I hope you might know the answers to... I have a 01 330ci 170k on its 2nd bad auto trans (zf5hp19). long story long. Bought a wrecked doner , 04 330ci 6 speed with 50k. Because of the mileage , was just going to swap it motor and all , out the bottom. Questions... Other than all things involved in the manual swap aspect of it,.. will the rest of the electrical stuff plug and play? Use the newer ecu or m ? Can I swap the cluster and what mi will it show? Anything else you would swap while you where in there? Thanks in advance

    • @DENVERBEERANDOIL
      @DENVERBEERANDOIL  Před 5 lety

      as long as you use your harness and accessories it will work. If you run that DME anf cluster you will also have to use that key and ews module. It gets complicated. easier to not change your mileage.

  • @KyleGreenSpeed3
    @KyleGreenSpeed3 Před 4 lety +1

    Okay so I’m about to do my swap this week and I’m pulling it from the front so what other hoses do I need to disassemble? Like fuel and power steering? Since u dropped it from the bottom I wanted to know what other stuff I need to pull off

    • @DENVERBEERANDOIL
      @DENVERBEERANDOIL  Před 4 lety

      Fuel will still be disconnected at the same place. Power steering you have the choice between disconnecting it on the rack side or on the power steering pump itself. It’ll help to remove the whole front clip off of the car, we don’t have any videos on it but there will be tutorials on CZcams. Aside from that most of it is the same. I’ll have the other guys chime in on this in case I’ve forgotten something too

    If taking the engine out of the top/front, would you have to disconnect the engine from the subframe only and then out or would I have to disconnect all the steering and suspension system too?

    • @DENVERBEERANDOIL
      @DENVERBEERANDOIL  Před 5 lety +2

      You would need to disconnect motor mounts, power steering high pressure line from pump to rack (top line 19mm), steering reservoir fill line and steering linkage (in order to clear the oil pan) other than that the process is the same minus disconnecting brakes/tophat bolts/yaw sensor(if equipped)/control arm bolts/subframe bolts. Hope this helps

    Excellent work, problem is some people like my self are only looking for the answer to `can the engine be pulled without the auto or manual trans att. Can eng be lifted out without removing the front end.. bumper etc. to watch your video all the way thru and find it doesn't apply to everyday e46 was a disappointment.til then it was well done.

    • @DENVERBEERANDOIL
      @DENVERBEERANDOIL  Před 2 lety +1

      The engine can be removed be without removing the transmission, just need to support the trans. Engine can be pulled without removing the front end, either with or without the trans attached. Best tip is to remove the steering shaft and leave the rubber engine mounts in the car, remove the clutch fan if your car is equipped, remove the radiator.

      I just saw this reply, I am a 78 year old, working with jacks and stands. The Job is finished and successful.. 3series N42 engine swap, auto trans left in place, Did not need to remove front panels or front B/bar. The job wasn`t that hard, just slow and easy does it. If someone offered me another 3 series with a blown engine I`d prob buy it and do it again. To be honest I`d rather do engine swaps on my Firebird or Mustang any day.. ha.

    • @matmanpromotions6457
      @matmanpromotions6457 Před 2 lety

      @@osirisfornever9127 its fiddly, but I have mostly 3/8th drive sockets etc, I used my very long ext with swivel end to get up there from below. With the trans cross-member dropped it lets you in easier, don`t forget to keep a trolley jack under the box to drop it or lift it as necessary.

      Bruno 100% agree and what I was thinking while watching this video. This video’s title is very misleading, or it’s just the worst “how to” video out there, because I didn’t learn at all on how to actually do this job. Just more telling people than actually showing them how to do it.

  • @TheBlindphleb
    @TheBlindphleb Před 4 lety

    Actually wrong about the wiring. You can put some of them in backward. I had a 325ci that I just could not sort out until I looked closer at the wires to the computer. They are color coded though, black connectors go to the black box, blue connectors go to the blue box.

      @DENVERBEERANDOIL  Před 4 lety

      There’s a lot of variables to quote a price straight out, but this is one of the easier cars to swap and there’s a lot of support and documentation if you want to go full DIY or you could essentially buy everything to make it plug and play

    Not a very good “how to” video, as the video shows you just telling people what to do than actually showing you doing the job itself. It was a good effort, and you’ll get views, but not necessarily a video that “shows” how to do it.
