    Subaru and Toyota brought out these models in the States 3 years ago and they were canned for only having 100 miles of range. So they pulled them from the market to rework the batteries. It has taken them 3 years to fix this problem, let’s hope their range is better than 160 kms although by using NEDC instead of WTLP maybe they have something to hide.

    Condescending regard for Chinese vehicles will surely soon come to a complete end given their continuing improvements in R & D. Every new vehicle improves on its predecessor...............and is way more affordable than its Japanese competitor.
    Only retirees with $500,000 plus in their Super might be silly enough to merely think about this as a purchase.

  • @gregturner_awod

    The Subaru Solterra/Toyota mix don’t provide enough range, quality or competitiveness necessary for either of them to compete against more established EV manufacturers, I’m sorry to say. Both Subaru and Toyota are established and respected manufacturers, but they should have done far better with their respective EV’s. The Solterra looks attractively designed, but looks aren’t matched by performance. USB A up front, for heavens sake? Internal quality looks poor for the money, albeit I do like the digital rear view mirror. No frunk and a lousy boot. Looks comfy and drives okay, but compromised in others ways. An excellent and fair review as always. For what it is the Solterra is too expensive, in my humble view.

      Toyota and Subaru dealers offer great discounts for these car when they have them available on their stocks. Here in Europe you can pick one for about 40000 Euros. That‘s slightly cheaper than a Model Y. Model Y has more space and better software. But these are built by real car companies, not by a company like Tesla, that believes it is not car company, but a software or robotics company. Tesla seldom offers any discount.

    I have one and REALLY like this car - I’ve driven a Tesla model Y for over 300 miles as well. Subaru is running a lease special right now ($7500 lease credit) and the monthly cost is $100 less than the Model Y lease and the down is about $1000 less. My sticker says 47K US so the figures mentioned might not be accurate? Maybe he’s talking pounds or euros - even though he states dollars? I get about 220 miles on a charge - I just hook it up to my dryer outlet and charge overnight - usually every other night. Yea, it’s not as fast nor does it have the range of some competitors but as a ‘daily driver’ it’s quite nice. There’s a bit of negative reviews on this vehicle - my best advice is just go drive one my friend.

    why so much hate here for Solterra, I think most haters here either have not seen the Solterra, or test drive one or dont own one. I have Test drive few times and hopefuly will be picking it up this weekend. It is a great great car, there is not a single thing good in Tesla except False advertisement of 330 range. no it doesn't give 330, you get 250or less. vs Subarau which I kept for 2 days and drove for full charge , advertise mile on SS is 220 miles but due to Regen breaking, I have got 245 and still had 10% battery left. lets talk about suspension, it is the best Suspension among all EV except Rivian and some very high end Evs like Benz and BM, but compare to Tesla Y it was my instant feedback to sales person, it actually better then my MDX suspension, having a small and little straight steering ( I had this type steering in my Maxima) your navigating or turning on curb or ramp is just out of this world., Car Play on large screen is awesome, cool seats is awesome and boy you have a physical button to control not like Tesla you have to navigate through a screen, I found Tesla to be so boring inside, it is so bland just seats and a screen vs the dash in SS looks awesome, seats are super comfortable, the dash has some sort of clothes which looks really nice and different and it will help to keep the vehicle much cooler. the back seats are so roomy and being 5'11" I had so much room. few things I did not liked 1/ roof is little low may be I drive to up high on seat. 2. I did not like the Piano black inside as it catches the finger prints and certain time of day will reflect the sun light ( I dont know), sound of harmon system is not great but who has time to listen music, I am mostly on phone calls when driving.. The top lid on EV port shows gap and I wish it could be absolutely invisible like Tesla and drive will se eit every time you drive. it does not store your Regen breaking setting, so every time I have to hit a button to enable regen. bottom line, I loved the car and BOY I am getting it sooooooo cheap none of you can imagine, i can get Premium Base for $279 a month 36 month lease or can get Touring for 355 a month with 2K down. I am confused lol, should I save my 2K and 70 bucks monthly and go for Base or should I get all included for 355 and 2k down.

    @RodneyW Před 3 měsíci +2

    It is too expensive for a car that drives "reasonably well", and will only appeal to people who have money to burn, and are particularly passionate about having an EV.
    The lack of practicality limits its usefulness. The boot... is barely bigger than a Hyundai i30... the steering square is change for changes sake.. the 350-360km real world range (with 1 person on board!) is not great for road trips... and what is the obsession with EV's not carrying a spare tyre, even when it is meant to be AWD fun machines?
    Why not buy a Subaru Forester ($44k driveway!), and enjoy the car / practicality, along with its decent resale value? Yes, it might cost more to fuel, but... saving $30k upfront buys a lot of fuel... it is more practical, more comfortable, has more boot space, and carries a spare. Yes, it produces CO2 out the tailpipe, but so does mining for the battery elements in the Solterra.

    Also Subaru today are terrible in Australia.
    Their cars have endless expensive Eyesight issues, there are complaints lodged at the ACCC and talk of joint action.
    I haven’t seen my Subaru for 6 months due to electronic eyesight issues. The car industry is so unhappy with Subaru - it’s definitely not the engineering company it once was.
