Yep. I felt that. No magic throughout the entire season and then at the end, it was like, oh damn, she's back... Damn, I wish this series can go on forever. It is so captivating and there is so much material they can use.
That last scene were yennefer was ready to sacrifice herself for ciri showed that she might get swayed but her heart was always pure.

A pure heart would never had done what she did. All she did was correct the wrong she committed. Not really something that needs to be praised.
Yennefer is one of the most complex characters I've ever seen, she is the example that even in her frailty we can overcome any obstacle. This season she understood that Ciri is much more than a girl of immense power, but that she can fill the void she most yearns for, being a mother.

Yennefer of Vengerberg is one of the best written female characters in fiction history. She's an inspiration to many people! In season 1, we see a fragile young Yennefer who's bullied, misunderstood and unaware of her powers. She changes her appearance for many reasons, one of which is to be respected and loved. This is often a problem many of us face because we are insecure about our appearances. She loses her fertility as a result and realises that it wasn't worth the loss of the ability of giving birth. She starts using her powers for her own advantage, becomes the most powerful mage in the continent and brings victory to Sodden. In season 2, she loses her powers, the one thing that made her feel worthy but she was still easily one of the most compelling characters showing us that you don't need to possess any super powers in order to be strong or to have a strong mentality. She's the best written character in my opinion and the most hard working between Geralt and Ciri. A true representation of females! Thank you, Andrzej Sapkowski!

Also Geralts casting is terrible, he isn't a handsome bloke that barely says a word, he's a grizzled Witcher that actually speaks a lot and likes to tell stories. It seems that you've never read a single one of the books

The Witcher is basically my childhood. Just because I thought the casting was great doesn't mean I'm clueless about the differences between the characters in the book and series. Yennefer doesn't act like a 15 year old and she's not spoiled at all. She's literally fighting for herself, trying to survive and trying to be loved the same way as she was in the books. You are just blinded by your hate to the characters casting. It's making you not focus on how they were all portrayed in a good way. Henry Cavill himself is a witcher fan. He also read the books and played the games so Geralt wasn't just any character to him. It was personal and he did his best to portray him accurately.

I love that she lost her power this season. She always takes it for granted. But now she realize how important magic truly is for her. And she realize with or without magic she's worth it. Character developement! I can't wait to see her all powerful and teaching Ciri.
Looking forward to see their relationship evolve.
Geralt/Yennifer drama pissed me off. He was the one who betrayed Yennifer and not only once, but when she messed up - she evil.
@@flame_ofhope Geralt did lie to Yennefer about the Djinn and yelled at her horribly after she found out, but Yennefer literally tried to sacrifice Ciri even when she knew she was Geralt's 'daughter'. I love Yen so much, and it is easy to sympathize with Yen because what happened to her was messed up, but Geralt has the right to be mad at her. Yen sat down and had full conversations with the two of them and ultimately decided that sacrificing Ciri was the best choice - like what? I hope she can redeem herself in the next season though.
@@dreamdjarin she decided nothing, when they arrive to the monolith Yen stops and cannot let Ciri go, so she make her choice only at the end & choice not to sacrifice but to save girl she knows nothing about. Geralt take her chance to be a mother & said bad things about her knowing how important this to her. Then he again betrayed her & bard. But when he needs help everyone again there for Geralt, but is he really apologized to anyone of them, did he make ANYTHING to fix his actions? Oh, i think he again just used bard & threat Yen as a bad witch knowing that she was corrupted by FUCKING DEMON TO STOP WHO WAS NEEDED ALL OF THE FIRST WITCHERS. I honestly doesn't like Geralt/Yen & Geralt/Bard relationships this season, for me Yen & Bard have a good team up as enemies to friends.
@@flame_ofhope I agree that Geralt isn't the most open to emotions and can be cold with his words depending on emotion. This season opened him up more emotionally (which I loved), and even if they weren't the best apologies, he at least attempted to regain what he had lost.
Yennefer's hesitancy to give up Ciri was one of my favorite moments because it showed that even in her most desperate moments, she has a good heart and a motherly instinct. But Yennefer's intention was to kidnap Ciri since episode 5. In ep. 6, she met Ciri and found out she was Geralt's child, and all 3 of them bonded. When Ciri went to walk away, you can see Yen's mischievousness, like she was planning something, but Ciri didn't let her walk her to her room. When they portalled out, Yen apologized to Geralt - she had still decided to lead Ciri to the monolith by telling her Geralt was there! Obviously, she had a change of heart when they got there, but it was too late.
Geralt didn't take her chance of being a mother. He allowed her to be next to Ciri and teach her magic. He just said he wouldn't forgive her but he knows that destiny keeps them tied together.
I cannot believe how quickly you are able to create magic like this. I truly felt Yennefer's desperation this season, and to see her go a full season without magic, still being a powerful character, is so incredible. Thank you for this lovely tribute.

such a change from Season 1 when she Geralt asks her what she wants and she declares she wants everything.
I love this character, she is so powerful even without her powers. I'm looking forward to see her and her relationship with Geralt and with Ciri in the next season

she's incredible, I can't find another world to define her, maybe powerful too would be good, I love her character so much , she can seems selfish because she suffer a lot but she still have a pure heart. She is strong but also very sensitive and that what I love with her.

I had some huge doubts at the beginning about the actress chosen for the role of Yennefer but after 2 seasons I can honestly say that I cannot imagine anyone else playing this character. Anya is an amazing actress and the level of the emotional engagement is unbelievable. Pure talent.
Terrible casting and terrible writing. They've just created a complete original character that looks nothing like Yennefer and has a complete different personality and slapped the name Yennefer on her. Absolutely butchered the character and the story. The writers are a joke

Anya played probably one of the most dominant female screen presence I've seen in a movie/show in years. She commands every screen that she is in and you can't help but think of how damn confident she is. She knows what she wants and knows how strong she is. One of the most amazing characters brought to life in live action. I can only pray that they can continue this series and that she keeps with the part. I've never seen any female role quite as strong as her character. Simply dominant.
Yennefer did almost sell out for her own gain. But she is still one of the biggest and most powerful heroes in this entire saga. It is interesting how her character has constantly evolved.
Yennefer misplaced her values. She made a poor decision based on the fact that she thought she only had value because of magic. As a character, with even that misconception about herself she still wants to do the right and fair things by others.

Stellar video again. I rushed to see it once I finished watching the season.
She is my favorite character in the show. I was nervous for this season as there isn't much of Yen in 'Blood of Elves' but the screenplay gave her room to explore and Anya nailed it again. I loved that they explored who Yen would be without magical abilities. When she had it, she struggled for find meaning & purpose and roamed around generally bored. But when she lost it, she almost lost her identity. That fear feels so real as Jaskier pointed out too. In the quest of regaining what she defined as her identity, she ended up finding a purpose bigger than herself. Bringing her to the beginnings of a family/ companionship she longed for.
I wish there was more of Tissaia and Yen though.
Yennefer is such a good character (my favorite). I was so scared at the end of season 2 where she decided to sacrifice herself because I thought she would die. But I'm glad she survived it and got her power back.

I doubted that Anya would be able to portray such an complex character, but she NAILS it! Same with Henry, Joey, Freya and Kim... That are the most important characters for me and they are outstanding in this series! Great choice from the directors even though there are some characters that does not fit for me personally, but thats fine... Cant wait for season 3 :)
