- AND1 Entertainment premieres 'The Chosen One,' a mini documentary on the story of Ben Wallace and his inspiring journey - from his HBCU experience at Virginia Union to his shot at the league, as told by the legend himself.
This year will mark the 20th anniversary of Wallace’s championship victory with the Detroit Pistons in 2004. AND1 recognizes there is no better time to celebrate the first and only undrafted Hall of Famer that donned their shoes during his storied career in the NBA.
While Wallace was known for sporting the AND1 Chosen One sneakers on the court, Ben also embodies AND1’s values: raw talent, dedication, and an unmatched work ethic. This powerful combination led the undrafted player to beat the odds by becoming an NBA champion and four-time Defensive Player of the Year.
The celebration comes on the heels of AND1’s milestone 30th Anniversary last year. AND1 is excited to continue its legacy of honoring the people and communities that built the brand, fostering the love of the game, and ushering in new, raw talent. - Sport

I think thats part of the reason I just dont resonate with the game these days. It's too much shooting from the outside and not as tough as it used to be. I think thats why a lot of these Europeans are doing so well. Just way more physical than a lot of the guys these days.
This man dedicated his game to defense and the boards like no other. He was the epitome of a team player and will forever be the face of 2004 championship squad. The going to work Pistons played team defense better than any NBA team I have ever witnessed. Thank you for your service Big Ben.

Never knew that much about Ben Wallace . I do now. This man embodies the idea of what you can conceive you can achieve. He always had the talent but needed a break . He got that from Unseld. I loved what he said . He would not be out worked . This is the power of the mind pushing you to new heights. I will never forget him and tell his story when I am talking to people that are down on their luck

Man I'm 36, and 1 was the king in the 90s! Those were the days of putting in the work and making something for yourself with zero social media.
Hand held camcorder, hard work, dubbin to VHS and making copies upon copies for college submissions. I would love to see some of the greats college submission tapes for acceptance for the ones that had to.
One of the greatest Detroit piston to ever play the game on the court. He was humble & didn't back down to no one. He's a true started from the bottom to the top a champion & HOF'er. Back when I began playing basketball I was rather heavier and I always used his box out method to get a lot of boards for my team even though I was 6’1” 340 lbs 🤣 college I dropped 75 lbs and grew an inch so it was a bit easier but I was held back due to academic stuff. Chose to go the school route rather than playing ball and I regret it totally lol I still got a wicked lay up but that’s about all I got left
I became a music and sports fan around my 12-13 (2003)birthday. 50 was my favorite rapper and the Pistons was NBA team and the Falcons was my NFL teams.

I only occasionally follow the NBA but I remember Wallace as a defensive standout and unsung hero back in the day.
Being from Detroit, went to 2 of the 2004 home finals games. I was like 13-14 years old. This era of the pistons was everything i loved about basketball. Hard. Tough. Defense FIRST. and playing as a unit even with the bench. Ben was the player I wanted to be. Absolute DOG. I love when the sports team embrace toughness and defense. That's real grit to me. Holding a Kobe and Shaq led Lakers team to like 60 points in a finals game is way more impressive than a team putting up 140 pts in todays game IMO. Ben and Chauncey are two of my favorite players of all time.
I know a guy who was on his JUCO team in Ohio. Said he was just as dominant then and would constantly want him to fed that ball. As Michigan native it was a blessing to be able to watch him.

I moved around a lot at a young age between different households, different states, different families, but when I got to Detroit something about Big Ben made me obsessed with the Pistons. I dressed like him, grew my hair out like him, always picked number 3 like him, and always took pride as a defender in every sport.

Just the way that man carried himself was championship material from the jump. Hard working, no ego, didn't let nobody mess with his teammates, etc.
Truly a top 10 big all time for me. I know some folks could list 10 guys they think was better, but big ben was such a great defender for his size and would have double the boards of the best guy on the opponents team most the time.
The craziest part to me though is that he might not even get minutes in todays game because of how much the game changed.
