- Santa Fe 3751 is a steam locomotive built in 1927 that was designed to haul passenger and freight trains at high speeds across the Southwestern US. Today, the locomotive is cared for by the San Bernardino Railroad Historical Society and is used occasionally on excursion trains to various destinations. 2024 marks 10 years since the last time the locomotive traveled to San Bernardino, CA for San Bernardino Railroad Days. To commemorate a full decade since the last of these excursions to this event, we will follow the train from Los Angeles to San Bernardino and return, looking at scenes from each of the five years that it ran.

What a time to be railfan in Southern California! 2008-2014 were probably some of 3751's greatest years of excursion service. 3 runs to San Diego, a visit to the Grand Canyon, and 5 trips to San Bernardino! I was honestly pretty bummed out that Railroad Days went back to Fullerton and brought an end to yearly steam excursions for us. Thanks for re-uploading these clips Mike!
3751 is operational again. Her FRA mandated 1472 overhaul was completed in 2022 and she is currently in her home in San Bernardino.
Home for 3751 is site of former Santa Fe Redondo Jct. roundhouse Los Angeles. Now an Amtrak facility.
@@edwinsinclair9853 Either way though, she’s back under steam and made her first public appearance since 2014 at Fullerton Railroad Days in 2022. She’s still at her home and from what I’ve heard, they are trying to make her mainline compatible with a PTC computer.
@@josebenitez6925yeah I also heard that it’s getting ptc installed on the engine
But it might be a while before she can run on the mainline again
Last I saw she was still at redondo jct roundhouse
Hands down my favorite ATSF 4-8-4 steam locomotive and ATSF locomotive as a whole
Today it's 10 years from Los Angeles to San Bernardino, CA 2014! 😊
20:16 Engineer boinked the cars so hard he knocked the maintenance panel open lol
dang! He totally clobbered that stretch of cars there, needs to treat those GP60s better! :)
3751 is a BEAUTY of a relic! Always love the variety of your shots!👍🏻🎥
Love the narration and the exclusive access inside the 3751 for the return trip. 21:52
I absolutely love the ATSF 4-8-4s I would someday like to see 3751 when shes out making excursions again. Perhaps both 3751 and 2926 together would be absolutely fantastic.
I am happy to say mike that I have had the great pleasure of seeing this amazing 4-8-4 many times since its third run on the surfline in 2010! I MISS SBD RR days out there in SBD! Wish they can bring it back! Amazing footage fro years past of this amazing steam engine! I also noticed you caught cam and I making a cameo lol at around 2:32! Love it mike! :)
Well done as always! Steam is always awesome! 🚂🚂
Hi Mike, a fantastic video of the Santa Fe steam locomotive # 3751. Excellently filmed, thank you for 30 minutes of steam locomotive sound and video. Greetings from Germany. wolfgang
Cool footage of Santa Fe 3751 (Built by Baldwin Locomotive Works in May 1927) in operation during the San Bernardino Railroad Days between 2010 and 2014. Also I’m going to be to seeing Canadian Pacific 2816 (Built by Montreal Locomotive Works in December 1930) from Calgary, Alberta to Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada over on April 24th 2024. It’s going to be the third Canadian Steam Locomotive that I will be seeing, with the others being Canadian Pacific 2839 (Built by Montreal Locomotive Works in 1937) and Canadian National 89 (Built by Canadian Locomotive Company in February 1910). It’s going to be the first Canadian Pacific Steam Locomotive for me to see in operation too.
Let us know if you have footage on youtube from the Canadian engines? 👍
Thanks a lot for putting this footage together, it's brilliant 👍😀 I live in Norway and have been many time in California visiting. Many road trips, hiking, camping, you name it. I was already super hyped when I could see the orange engines of BNSF. I can't imagine if I had seen Santa Fe 3751! 😃I was in LA in April 2013, so I just missed it! Cheers 😊
I remember seeing it pass through Upland with my dad in 2013 and 2014. Best days of my life!
You saw the steam engine?
That’s awesome
I heard they're planning to put a full PTC system on the locomotive, which will hopefully give the locomotive the opportunity to get back on the mainline.
I WANTED THIS EVER SINCE I SAW THE ORIGINAL STEAM TRA8NS GALORE!!
Great video. Santa Fe 2926 is supposed to do several short runs this year in Albuquerque. More details on those outings will be released soon. Hope to see that engine on your channel!
I've gotten to see 3751 twice since its return to steam in 2022. I really hope she does another excursion in the future as it's been over a decade since she last pulled one. But seeing how she's getting ptc fully installed there could be a chance of that happening in the future. And once one is announced, I'm so getting a ticket to ride behind her.
This video and those excursions are getting me excited for K&L Trainz’s release of the 3751!
Wait K&L is releasing a ATSF 3751 model?
They are! They only just started on it though, so only time will tell when it’s available
Let's see the trainz and I seen it
K&l trainnz 3751? I better tell jmariocgii
This really was a fantastic compilation. I keep hoping someday this will happen again. Or something with 3751 pulling an excursion.
Awesome vid sir, thank you - love that shot of it hauling butt through the grade crossing at San Dimas there, looks like that guy with the beer was so excited he sprayed it all over.
I have got to go to San Bernardino railroad day back in the day
17:00 look to the right and there is a bouncy house jumper. If that was a birthday party, then the guests must have been surprised by the whistle of 3751.
Thanks Mike for having us along.
hard to believe 2014 was 10 years ago
Beautiful steam giant. Her whistle is amazing, it will be great to see this running again!
Thank you so much for putting together this amazing compilation 🙏
Nice video! Santa Fe 3751 is my favorite ATSF steam locomotive.
WOW what a fantastic video and enjoyed watching. Have a wonderful upcoming weekend.(Steve)
11:34 "👍" part Mike! Thank you
for finding this one dude...
Santa FE 3051 was a steam locomotive that was very big. It was built by the Baldwin locomotive works.
Amazing video! I wish 3751 was on the rails again so I could see it
its pretty cool how the oregon rail heritage center let 3751 use their dlmx 5659 daylight baggage car (was once a union pacific baggage car)
great video beautiful-Joaquim antunes da rocha -São Paulo Brasil
Oh wait I remember seeing ATSF 3751 at the Trainfest located at LAUPT last year
I really hope 3751 comes to Chicago again! She’s a Top 3 Favorite of mine and my favorite steam locomotive that I’ve not seen
Good memories
Marvelous idea of recording the big locomotive
0:10 Santa Fe 3751 looks amazing steam locomotives. 🙂❤️
And also my favorite steam engine is the Santa Fe Steam locomotive Number 3751 it is a big steam engine
Awesome video!
Awesome video! bro
Fun video
i love this trains.. 👍👍
Fantastic video!! Man this gives me so much memories seeing this steam locomotive at a very young age, work well done Mike!
My favorite part: 3751 ‘blows steam whistle’ a kid ‘woah’
12:09 that’s where his old intro from 2014 was from!
20:30 more like “Three former Santa Fe Railroad GP60M locomotives smashed into freight cars and one even knocked one panel for maintenance open” heck, you can even hear the jolt sound if you listen carefully
Amazing video! I heard it’s getting ptc installed on the locomotive
On the Atchison Topeka and the Santa Fe
3751 needs to meet 2926!!! See ATSF sisters in action!
Crazy how it’s been 10 years since she last ran 7:01
👋 Mike, How come the entire video’s in 4K despite you using shots before you went 4K and did you notice a few video glitches from 4:18 to 4:27?
To whoever is here I just wanna say I’m in college and ima hopefully make an animation movie about the lossan corridor sometime in the future. So long story short the movie is going to be about two kids named Evan and Arron who just to not spoil it win a competition and are entered to have a job on the Surfline. (They’re both 18 so it’s okay) (and I also know Amtrak wouldn’t do this but it’s a animation) and then they actually are really good driving on the Surfline and there’s not going to be two movies for the LA side and the San Diego side it’s going to be one movie. It’s going to include all the stations and all the trains. So stay on the lookout for that!
Santa Fe 3751 coming through
My favourite train!!
Also I am guessing this is the sequel episode for the one you did four years ago between LA and San Diego 3751
Did you know that maybe someday they might have the atsf 2-10-4 Texas 5011 class steam locomotive number 5018 back to operation so I can get to drive that train pulling 100 freight cars with the Santa Fe caboose how awesome would that be dudes
Hopefully this at least can be repeated after they get PTC fully installed.
Thanks for the next video but what happened to 3751 This is 2024
Hello from alva oklahoma
Hello Mike, I have a couple of questions. My following questions are: What's your opinion of the new Coaster CEM coaches? Will you do a video on the Tren Maya? If you see my comment, plz reply to it ASAP.
