- There's no place I'd rather be than the junkyard. I needed a few parts for my truck, so I made the trip out to browse the isles. While I do some regular fixing for most of the video, this upload was an attempt to share my appreciation for this graveyard of old cars. I hope I conveyed that and you enjoy taking in the scenery with me.

I'm 65 now, but I remember going to the same boneyards to keep all my rigs in good working order way back when I was 16. It makes me feel good to know 49 years later that a young guy can still do that. All the old boneyards I went to are all gone now. Your Vlog brought back good memories. Thanks

One thing I like about you, Simon, is that you are not afraid to exercise your "little grey cells." Good on you for using a master cylinder rebuild kit rather than buying a "remanufactured" one. I trust myself to make sure everything is done right. Someone else, not so much.

My favorite CZcams channel. I’m 19 out of West Virginia and have a 1980 Ford F-100 300, so I can always find great entertainment in what you post! I love that no nonsense, quality air to your content. It has so much character. I don’t often comment at all, but I had to since discovering this channel has really made my week. I am really digging your style and the work you put into these old rigs.
I own an older Mercedes diesel wagon, and the dash lights are notoriously dim, and the rheostat spring fails like yours did. I just jumped a wire on the rheostat for full brightness. I have also used Deoxit to revive electronics, especially volume knobs on older radios. Great stuff to have on the shelf.
I had to do exactly the same thing on the 1975 240D that's on my channel, didn't show it in the video though.
One of your vids popped up in my feed about a week ago. I really enjoy your thoughtful approach to your videography, steps you take to show your process, good skills...and of course, the silence. I'm now watching your vids from the beginning. I'm having to "armchair" mechanic at the moment but hope to be active on my car and truck again soon. In the meantime, I will enjoy viewing your vids. I'm getting such pleasure from your style starting with the GE Spacemaker coffee maker and lasting through problem solving, often through several iterations before finding the solution that worked. The lack of commentary and the attitude you project creates an ambience I find refreshing.... makes me feel good inside 😌 thank you for all the work creating these videos.
Just the sounds alone of old metal is pure gold, only thing missing is the smell of half combusted fuel only a carb can produce.

There's something kind of poignant and sad about places like this. All of those derelicts were once shiny new showroom stars.
You can see evidence (like the birthday card in the school bus) that these were once doing useful work.
I remember once coming across a 1963 Ford Galaxie very similar to the one my Dad owned, complete with a windshield sticker allowing entry into Jasper National Park (circa 1966).
Now they rest and rust. I've always thought that sound seems different in an auto graveyard. The noises from everyday life seem to come from further away.

Rohner's in Willmar. Long drive but always worth it. I found some great stuff for my 70' Duster. There's a 68' Road Runner buried in a ravine just to the left when you were on that first path. You missed the 71' F250 Super Duty a few years ago...put in a drive shaft and front glass, you could have driven it out of there. It was running...someone dumped it there. 🤟

Subbed after about 15 minutes on your last video of this truck! One thing I would recommend you save your joints by getting a cheap corded impact wrench from harbor freight (BAUER 8.5 Amp 1/2 in). I call mine, The Judge. I've used this thing many times to remove 35mm rusted nuts and they come off in a hurry, like they forgot they owed money and left the stove on. Great job man, keep doing what you're doing! :)

I didn't think junkyards like that still existed. The one I used to go to sold out over 20 years ago. It's an apartment complex now. I used to spend the whole day just wandering around having a blast. I wonder what happened to all the cars. All you see now are corporate yards that won't let you out back... not that you'd care to go anyway, it's all full of new cars lol. But then again, I still consider that truck you're driving to be a late model so I guess I'm out of touch.

I subbed yesterday. Love the content and appreciate your editing style. Consider throwing up a wishlist on your descriptions, maybe people would like to help you out with a hammer or a socket every now and again.
I had alway's had pretty good luck with older vehicles for 30 years, but after my 1968 elCamino fiasco in 2000, I saw no need for ever getting an old vehicle again. Forward to 2021 I wanted an old truck because my new vehicles were getting beat-up in parking lots.
I looked at a1985 2wd Ford that leaked everwhere, barely ran, and had body cancer for $1200, but the guy thought he could get more.
I settled on a rust free, not beat to shit, 1991 2wd Ford for $850 that I thought only had an exhaust manifold gasket leak. It did, plus a cracked intake manifold, and a pinhole in the block, so it got a re-maned 300 longblock with new associated parts.
It's a great truck now, so much so, that I sort of overloaded it with 2500# and drove it home 5 miles with no issues that I can tell.
Ford tough! I work on a lot of modern vehicles and it serves to reassure me that I much prefer the older vehicles.

Динамометрическим ключом нельзя дотягивать гайки после щелчка. Сломаешь инструмент. Следует затянуть с меньшим усилием, потом переставить на большее и затянуть повторно. Впрочем, видео крутое. Приветствие с Украины!
