A chicken bone fell out from the CV axle!
That car had to have been on the streets of: Atlanta, Memphis or New Orleans at some point t in its life!

I've seen a few of your videos and I think the order is 1) hammer on socket, 2) vice grips, 3) hammer on vice grips, 4) breaker bar, 5) breaker bar with pipe extension, 6) welder.

Love your style Simon! BEST "slide" hammer ever invented and built in 15 minutes(taking notes here). I have worked on old Mercedes and one thing is certain: 1. Not designed for mechanics (any German car in fact). 2. Tie rod ends are always worn. 3. Damn they could build a turbodiesel engine. Petrol ones were okay.
    Keep the videos coming!

ill never understand how people let their cars get to a state like this. it's either negligence or just not having enough money

I hope your friend paid you good because you saved him a fortune. And you definitely need a bigger hammer😂 that's why the shop was giving him a run-around they didn't want to work on that rust bucket they know those cars are problems. And it was a death trap before you fixed it but now it needs an alignment

Не понимаю,зачем живя в сша покупать европейские,японские машины,ведь американские они лучше крепкие на раме большие и мощьные,по крайней мере были такими до 2000 года! А звук мотора v8 чего стоит он такой классный что аж мурашки по коже идут

I’d actually like to know Simon’s opinion on the old Merc, I’ve owned 4 of them and they are not as expensive to maintain as people think for routine jobs and the build quality is excellent nuts and bolts actually undo instead of snapping off, so I am a Mercedes fan, I currently drive an E220 and love it.

The only reason a shop does that, is if they don't want to work on it. too many lazy techs just want the easy money anymore. I'm like you, I'd jumped on it.

When buying a: Mercedes, bmw, Audi or other European luxury auto. You are actually buying an open ended ticket to the dealer service center. German tanks suffered from constant repeated breakdowns from complicated manufacturing and build techniques during WW2, costing them lots on the battlefields. When it’s working, it’s great. But the key word “when” has not changed even from the 1940’s… I would NEVER buy one of these, unless I wanted a quick way to empty my wallet.

All newer cars are reliable, every machine is but key word is maintenance. If you don't do the maintenance but then say oh German cars are not good. That's why. Indeed they are premium cars and require a lot more maintenance, but that doesn't mean they aren't reliable.

Nonsens... Why do we not have these issues overhere in EU? Well, for one the cars are great but not nearly as neglected as in the US or Can. Secondly, service is actually pretty good and affordable unlike the many crooky dealers across the pond. Just look at the state of many cars in the US. Or watch an episode of just rolled in....
