- In this episode, I'll show you How to Fix the Auto Stop/Start Light on your Jeep Wrangler JL which includes the Auxiliary Battery and Fuse Array. In case you replaced the auxiliary battery and the light is still on, this may help! We check out the connections that may be loose, change the auxiliary battery, and found that it was still an issue for us. It turned out to be the fuse array (linked below). I also show you how to shut off or disable the auto stop/start if you don’t want it on at all.

This is just some of what we have going on right now. We have some work going on with troubleshooting a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon JK Sway Bar light and actuator that will be in an upcoming episode. We'll be installing a new manual Evo Manufacturing No-Limits disconnect for this JKU. And, the new gears and lockers have been installed in the Dana 60 and 14 bolt for the Jeep WJ. I'll give you an update on that soon too as we get it back together and ready to wheel!

Super helpful. Thanks! Just replaced my aux battery. I got a few sparks on number 1 putting it back together but everything seems to be running fine. 👍🏻
Awesome, good to know and thanks for watching! Those posts are close together and sparks seemed inevitable 😂
Thanks for the great video. I have a 2020 JLU, yup, stop/start doesn't happen anymore. No dash light (yet). I do push the dash switch to disable the S/S every time. Well, again thank you and great educational experience.
Thanks so much for watching! The Tazer is a great purchase if you ever want additional programming options…and you’ll never have to push that dash switch again, you can just shut it off. Thanks again 🤙🏼
Good video, well produced
Thanks so much!!
Thanks for this. First video I looked at that explained what the issue is and how to fix it. Question: what mileage were you at when that issue came up? I'm at about 50K.
I have 2021 Jlu 2.0 … do I have the same setup with Ess?
Awesome video, I hate the auto stop on my 2023 Wrangler JL. Does the Aux battery run your A/C and radio and brake light etc.. when in auto shutdown mode? Oh yea, Subbed!
What happens if you just don't fix the Auto stop/star light? Does it affect other components of the car? Is it not the equivalent to disable the function when it is working?
Thanks for the video, 2018 JLU here, mine comes on randomly while driving and I am not sure what triggers it. I do feel like my A/C behaves differently when it happens. Any thoughts on that?
Many thanks!
Hmm, I’m really not sure on that. Let me know if you figure it out though!
I'm sure you figured this out by now, but there's a much easier way to replace from the wheel well.
Yeah, done it that way too. The fuse array on top needed to be checked and ended up being the issue.
I have the 2022. We didn’t want the start/stop crap. Yes we have the light but we deleted the Aux battery. Also, it’s easier to get to it from the bottom.
Yeah, I had heard it’s easier to get to from the bottom too. Seemed pretty easy this way too. I used the Tazer on my 2020 and turned it off that way. Appreciate the feedback!! 🤙🏼
My just stopped working and i have a warning light, funny cause its the only thing i didnt like about my jeep so im glad it stopped working. I have a manual so it so much easier at lights. Ha
Just for future and anyone else that is trying to do this disconnect the wires that are attached to the negative terminal and wrap them with electric tape before you start this job and disconnect the negative terminal. If not you still have power and that's why he blew the fuse.
Do you have an input why the 2018 jeep won’t crank battery in super healthy stage new
Hmm, I don’t, I’m sorry.
any ideas if there was a cylinder misfire on cylinder number three and also at one point the check engine light went on?
Hmm, didn’t have that happen. Sorry.
@@PSFGarage yeah so the aux battery was replaced but it wasn’t jeep facory battery(don’t know if that matters) but It was fine for a month. Then just last week the stop/start button goes on.
Next day it doesn’t. Then a day and half later it does it again. So I decided to go back to where I got the aux battery put in. Filled up my tank and then the engine light goes on bur stop/start is off. So… Get to the shop and they tell me there is a slight misfire on cylinder 3. They checked the sparkplug coils switch them around and reset the computer and its fine. They tell me they think it’s bad fuel which Ive heard before. Now, I always put shell in but last week when it first happened I was at jeep getting an oil change and then decided to put chevron in. Let’s just say after that it didn’t feel like it had enough power. Anyway, so like I said they tell me the fuel.. well a day, 2 days ago this week on wednesday it happens again. Start/stop light. I went back yesterday on thursday morning and they run diagnostics again. Same thing. Tell me it is the fuel still lingering cause there are no fuse issues either. So he put like a trimmer in or some shit and said he will reset it but it’s gona happen again. He said put at least 2 tanks of premium in cause the fuel has been bad as of late which I have been hearing. Anyway, fine all day until later. Start/stop again. So at this point Im baffled. If all of that may give you any ideas let me know please.. but if the premium doesn’t help I guess Im gona go back to jeep. smh giant tedious headache
@@nine27I had a misfire, ended up heads were warped only warning was engine light came on after it was way too late. $5,200 out of pocket.
@@hakenkreuz7076 man that sucks. definitely sorry to hear. my case ended up being bad fuel. put a trimmer and premium in. ran it all out after like 2 tanks. funny thing is Ive been hearing about bad 87 fuel ⛽️ grade for awhile now too. At this point Im using only premium. It costs a little more but get better miles per gallon and it actually lasts longer too. but like I said. what happened with your situation sucks. were you far passed being out of warranty?
What if that light is as on then off for months but now my jeep won’t start at all I have to jump it every morning for the past 3 mornings ?
Probably time for a new battery?
How did you know that panel was bad
I’m fighting same issues tried aux delete kept getting lights just out in new aux battery engine light back on 2018 JL 62000 miles haven’t had any issues until now 🤷🏻
It sparked when installing because wires barely touched. When the battery went in and I didn’t have a couple of functions I traced it to the fuse panel and had to switch it out.
I took tire off and went thru Wheel Well, and pulled it down and out. I thought was less work, prop same.
Yessir, I’ve done it that way too. I have aftermarket inner fenders too so it’s pretty similar, you’re right. Thanks for watching!
Swapped my fuse array; was burned out at N3. This did not fix my issue of a dead car (no power inside other the lights). I currently pulled the Power Control Relay, not sure if it’s healthy.
Bummer, sorry to hear that. Sometimes too many electronics is the downside to newer rigs.
Wanted to update everyone. PC relay was good and I’ve now replaced the Cam Buss in the glove compartment. Still no power to the inside electronics. Still searching…
It’s happening to me right now with the fuse N3, the jeep is completely dead. Were you able to fix yours? If so, what was the problem?
Will this cause the engine light to turn on ass well? I have a 2018 wrangler rubicon and the message stating the auto start is not working
It shouldn’t, no. The red battery light on the top left of the instrument panel and the A with the arrow are only lights that come on.
@@PSFGarage thank you!
Way easier to go through the fender liner.
Good to know. If I ever need to again, might try it that way.
100% easier via wheel well. 20mins, that includes removing the tire, 2 10mm screws, 3 push pins. Then 3 10mm screws to drop the bin. All this bitching about through the top, wow.
I wonder if Jeep could ever find a more inconvenient place to put that aux. battery?
Haha 😂 I’m 100% sure they could and would, let’s not mention it to em 🤣 I just saw the entire body get pulled off the chassis of a brand new $110k Jeep Grand Wagoneer to replace a seized 13k mile 6.4 engine. Yikes.
@@PSFGarage And to think, I always thought the 6.4 were bulletproof.
@@PSFGarage With the body off, it would be a good time to check the battery under the rear seat.
…2020 Unlimited Sport Wrangler
Nice!
I went through all that with my 2018. Worse jeep I ever had. I swear it was lemon. 5000 miles on it and left me stranded
Bummer, sounds like it might’ve been.
The stop/start feature is one of the dumbest things ever! I hope Jeep pays attention to the consumers and eliminate that stupid worthless feature in new models and in fact I hope there is a recall and they do something to compensate folks that have had to deal with the issues from it.
Agreed. On my JL I’ve used the Tazer to just set it to off permanently. It’s totally worthless and pointless. Couldn’t agree more.
They won’t eliminate it anytime soon, they want our starters to get screwed up, they know what they’re doing. Cost me $1200.
The easy faster way is going threw the inner wheel well.....
Cool…I’ve heard that. It was pretty easy this way too and I need to check other things when removing it. Appreciate the feedback though! Thanks.
*through
it was monotonous to listen to the same intro/explanation TWICE
Man, I’m so sorry. That’s just terrible. But yet, you listened to it. lol. Thanks for watching!
Seriously. I'm practically yelling at this vid to just get to the point! Ugh
that thing is sexy
Thanks!
Sorry! But what a lot of BS to get to auxiliary battery!
Don’t be sorry, I didn’t put it there 🤷🏻♂️🤣 You can get to it by removing the inner fender I think too. I did it this way because of some of the other connections I was checking.
My 2018 JLU sport is a piece of sh!t. Has 73,000 MLS ....Warped heads( no warning ), catalytic converter had to be replaced, rear end shredded gears replaced (4.88 G2),rear main seal is leaking, coolant overflow reservoir leaking, aux battery dead within a year, rear defrost tabs fell off within 6 months, etc. all the big stuff.... 8,000 MLS out of warranty, all out of pocket.
And now start/stop light is on along with washer fluid light even though it's full.
Man, that sounds ROUGH! I’m sorry you’ve had so many problems with it. That’s no fun.
What a fucked up system and there’s no need for the auxiliary battery to even be there the primary battery is more than capable to handle everything.
Yeah, not a fan, just dealt with it again only 2020. Could probably delete it altogether.
