I found you through Bernadette Banners channel and Iâm loving the differences in your bustle as compared to hers! Thank you for letting us see your bloopers at the end, I really got a chuckle out of them! Hugs!
I agree. Bloopers can be fun.
I had wondered what all the grommets were for on the bustle pads that I had been looking at. Glad to know they actually served a purpose and weren't just a random design feature. I loved your reaction at the end about how CoCo was not kind to your bustle pad. That's my reaction when I come home and unpack after going to ren faire. After a weekend camping and the (typically) scorching heat, no amount of deodorant can totally deal with all the body sweat.
Thank you! I wondered why bustle pads kept being shown with grommets in them and NOW I KNOW!
tufting is such a cute word
Nicely informative video, and I am rather living for the blooper reel.
I just made a heavily pleated skirt and need a pad to pad my behind thatâs not one of the 18th century patterns I have that are super duper poofy. Last night I tried it on with it and my husband was laughing because I started being silly and twerking while wandering around the house and it was a whole thing. While Iâm not new here I did find this video from Bernadetteâs video because I had no idea this one existed. Thank you this now goes on the list to complete before fall hits so I can wear my skirt without being weighed down.
Until you actually see the various layers of clothing being made, you have no idea how much work went into creating the various historical costumes. I used to think that living in one of the bygone ages would have been wonderful, 'till I saw how much work was required to get dressed, and cook a meal, or travel even short distances, then I am happy to be me. Thank you so much for sharing all of your amazing creations with us.
Wow the edwardians had my size/shape. I fit nicely into that size chart.
I thought the same thing. I'm 35 26 40 and 2 inches in a corset is easy, but I would still ad padding for a smooth line. Like when you wear a bra with a tiny bit of foam
I found you through a lot of youtubing while working on a sewing project. I'd already knew Sarah from Ensembles of the Past. She posted a video of Bernadette's. I then fell down the rabbit hole! Lol, I did not know that videos like this existed! I binged watched hers and saw your star gown in her video and just loved it! I had to see more! Whats funny is I grew up close to Canada in Montana and Minnesota. At one point being only 50 miles from the border. I love your videos! Its almost like having a sewing buddy again! I really miss that!
l love this channel because i am beginner of sewing. You have teach me the techin that i need for class or at home. i find you blog inspiring to me to watch, the more i watch the more learn. Thank very much
I was looking for ways to make the bump behind a 1890 dress...i found you! Thank you it was awesome!
Ohhh it'll be time for me to jump on this train too soon. Thank you for sharing your process Marika!
Ooooo, looking forward to seeing yours!
A great use if cabbage. I have some old pillows I can reuse to stuff as well. Thank you.
Yay Nancy Drew books! Thanks for the neat tutorial too :)
I love Nancy! I think I have read all the originals.
I found your channel through
Bernadette Banner. I never thought of these pieces as having ventilation, what an interesting piece of knowledge!
I am usually too shy to comment on anyone's posts...but, I began watching you after your posts were suggested on my home page. I am not a historical costumer; however, I love garment making (I make my own clothes) and history, and have been known to sew myself historically-inspired pieces. I watch historical costumers/garment makers on CZcams because all of you are marvelous seamstresses (I haven't watched your male counterparts yet), and your final pieces are beautiful! Maybe, after watching all of you, I will be inspired to do it too.
I love this design!
Hello!
I found you via Bernadette, Cathy, Morgan, Constance, Abby, Nicole and a bunch of other people working with much of the same things you do! I've got some tailoring background from way back when, but never really learned much about the periods I'm intrested in before now.
Although I'm learning lots from all of you, I've got to admit feeling most greateful for having found you and Juul Thijssen so far, due to my curves. Every one of you ladies are making the most beautiful things... Yet I find it easier to "see" myself wearing a garment fitting another woman of approximately my size and shape as beautifully as yours do you! .
Thank you soooo much for being out here!
I'd never heard of ventilation holes in bustle pads, it's such a good idea!
Yay bustle pad! I loved hearing about its practical side (venting holes, stuffing level, etc) after you'd had a chance to wear it for an extended period and see what you think about it :D
These ladies knew what they were doing đ
So glad that the grommets are useful - I had been wondering if they helped to customize the size. Always a pleasure to watch you sew while tracing patterns.
Love this! I made something thatâs pretending to be a bustle pad...but letâs just say itâs an oddly shaped pillow. I love this one way better. New item to my list of thing to make!
I was looking up bustle pads, and found you that way! I like your videos! Thank you for sharing your sewing on CZcams! ~Janet in Canada
I am not exactly new to your followers, but I definitely have been lurking more than commenting. So hello! I am Cait. I found you while delving in to my 18th century dressmaking endeavors.
Hello Cait. It is lovely to meet you đ
My costume grads are beginning their 1890s project this week! Iâve shared your video with them :)
Vent holes! Noted. I find it amusing - and honestly, oddly validating, that the parts of me that I try to minimize now were such a celebrated thing during La Belle Epoque. I have yet to actually create a Victorian garment, but dressing in my Victorian-inspired clothing, and even just slightly mimicking the silhouette, brings about an air of confidence that I simply don't have while wearing modern clothing. A rabbit hole to descend into, for sure.
Per your query at the end of the video: I discovered your channel via Morgan Donner. It was actually her lace-making video that piqued my interest in your work. No regrets!
I love how frank you are about the, ahem, bodily realities of wearing historical costumes, when discussing the ventilation holes đ€Ł It's so important to remember that underneath all the pretty floofy gowns, we are in fact humans . . .
I'm a dummy, so I actually thought she was just referring to it getting too warm under there XD Airing out body-smells makes sense too!
I enjoy watching accomplished seamstresses doing their thing! Thank you!
I'm playing I Spy with your bookcase. I've seen Tamora Pierce and Gail Carriger, two of my favorite authors.
I too found your channel through Ms. Banner. Currently going down the rabbit hole of videos! Beautiful work!
Welcome Michelle! I hope you enjoy the videos!
OOOO! Love this! You looked fantastic in your Gala Gown!!!
Hahah love the outtakes !
Thank you Celticgoddess đâșïž

Like everyone else, I found you through Bernadette, Noelle and Morgan's various costume college videos, and I'm so glad I did!
I find your channel by searching for corset making videos. But I have enjoyed watching all your other videos too.
the corset and bustle pad are too beautiful to be underwear. I fell they should be seen and admired.
Thank you. And I found you thanks to Bernadette Banner and Costume college.
Thank you for this video. It was excellent and I canât wait to make an 1890âs bustle pad for myself.
I have been seeing your sewing videos on youtube for a while now watched a few and subscribed after coco.
I know this video is a year old, but maybe youâll still see this. I actually found you from Costuming Dramaâs CoCo vlogs (I HAD to see how you made that Gala Gown!), the Q&A you did with Morgan, and also from CoCoVid. Itâs fascinating to see how everyone makes the same basic items so differently!
Hi Marika! I love your video. I've tumble on your youtube account a year or 2 ago, and binge watch all your Robe à la française video and was waiting for new video, then I tumble on Bernadette Banner video and binge watch hers and she talked about you and saw you in Morgan Donner video QnA at Costume College, so yeah. 2 years of waiting really paid off. thanks again for your video
This was so interesting!
I found you via watching Bernadette, Cathy, and Morgan. Love your videos thank you.
I found you while watching Bernadette and Morgan. I am so glad I did!
Hi from Germany, great video...another way to create a bustle pad, have to keep this in mind when working on my next projects. By the way, love your corset!
This video is so well timed, I was literally just looking at bustle pad styles and trying to figure out which one I would make.
You are soooo talented! Amazing job!
Love the "outtakes" too!
The results looked amazing with your gown. Thank you so much for showing us all the underthings đ
Thank you for the information! I'm making a bustle pad right now. Need to get bigger grommets, the ones I have aren't big enough!
Thanks for sharing the links for the patents. I found you through suggested links that came up in my CZcams feed and others I follow who were at Costume Collage.
Hello from Cali! I found you through Bernadette Banner's Channel. Loved your gala gown!!! Love your sweetness and creations! Keep it up!!
Great process video!
Wow these look amazing ! not sure when ill get the courage to pattern draft a pattern.
Loving the bookshelves. So many of my favourites on there. The bustle pad turned out well and filled out the gala gown beautifully. My sewing room needs a clean up too and I haven't the excuse of getting ready for somewhere as cool as CoCo as a reason for it's current state of disaster. Thanks for sharing your project.
This is so great. Itâs so pretty for a bustle pad lol. Canât wait for more videos đđ
That looks so neat! Fantastic work
This is exactly what I needed today! Thank you!
Kind of new here but found you through my research like I found Bernardette and Noelle :-) :-) And love your Gala Dress, very me cause I love the night skies and the constellations ;-) xx
Great video. Thanks for all the tips. I originally saw you through the Costume College Q&A with Morgan Donner since I'm one of her subscribers.
amazing as always
The sad look on your face while looking at the mess... That's me almost all the time looking at my room... lol
I've never seen this kind of ventilation on the hip pad, and it seems really helpfull! That's a nice thing to know that you already tested it and it's a good thing to add when constructing it.
I loved your coco night gown and I'm also loving to see all the steps to make all the undergarments to make it look that perfect!
Thanks for sharing!
i like the grommets in the middle of the bustle pad. May need to do this. I think you come highly recommended by Bernadette Banner and Morgan Donner.
This was really interesting to watch - I learned a lot. Your channel popped up in the suggestions list, probably because I watch Bernadette Banner, Prior Attire and other vintage sewing channels.
Welcome đ I glad you enjoyed the video.
Bernadette and Noelle talking about you brought me here.
I love outtakes at the end!
You have a new sub! I watched you girls at costume college and I laughed and had a great time watching you as well. I'm going back and watching all you're videos!
Great video! I really love the outtakes :D
I actually found you from Bernadette Banner and Morgan Donner. Wonderful video thanks for another grate video
bernadette mentioned that since you all know one another and mention one another, the 'costube' community gets a lot of sidebar recommendations. its pretty much how i browse content these days, somehow the algorithms do a better job than trying to subscribe to every content creator in any one community. if i subscribe its merely a formality
Oooh, I particularly enjoyed seeing the order of how the batting then extra stuffing goes in.
And I think I'm another who found you after Bernadette's recommendation
The things we do to make us look the way we want to look! I love it. :) Yesterday, I went to the Dior show in Dallas, Tx. It was so wonderful, I almost cried. At the back of my mind, all through the show, was the persistent question, "What kind of under garments???"
these are the cutest bloopers ever XD
I first learned of your channel by way of Bernadette Banners video of costume college 2019
I am definitely going to make a bustle pad! Although I don't need the hip pads... my hips are so wide the Edwardian fashionistas would think I overstuffed my hip pads as it is! lol
Hello! I discovered you in Bernadette's Costume College video, and fell head over hell in love with your constellations gown. After that I had to see more, and here I am!
Grommet, love that word, saw you on some cos. college videos and loved your galaxy dress. I'm a sewer and crafter, esp. knitting and crochet.
I discovered your channel after seeing the Q&A you did with Morgan Donner!
I found you through Bernadette Banner's channel! I'm a LARP(Live action role play) player and my primary game is a 1880s weird wild west game, and I've been dying to make underthings that are more era appropriate than my current ones
I found you though Morgan Donner. The q and a at costume college.
And Iâm hooked! I follow you on IG too. So so so inspiring, and I canât wait to get started on mine. Keep it up I know itâs no easy when your a mamma too. You give me such encouragement that can take time to costume so can I!âșïž
Welcome and thank you đ
Thank you for an excellent video! The bloopers gave me a good giggle :D I think I found you once by looking up historical sewing, then really got into your videos around CoCo!
I love your outtakes đ and I have corsets I need to clean for the same reason
That was wonderful. My first thought was what are the grommets for? Glad you explained. It makes sense, I never really thought about when all that padding is back there it would keep things warm. Your ending was hilarious I love bloopers. I enjoy your videos so much.
I found you through both Bernadette banners videos and cathy hays videos.
Hello! I'm new here I found you thanks to your costume college vlog as a suggested video. I'm really looking forward to seeing what you make next.
I'm new here, found you via Morgan Donner and the costume college videos on her channel and Bernadette's videos đ and I'm so happy I did
Welcome đ
@@EnchantedRoseCostumes thank you đŠ I just adored your constellation galla dress but my skill level are much more busselpad than galladress at this point đ but room to grow and learn is a good thing đ€Ł
Havenât finished the video yet, already liked!
đ„°âșïž thank you
Loved this! Discovered you through Costuming Dramas vlogs first. Then again on Beradette's videos.
Hello! I came from some of the other Costume College vlogs, and I absolutely loved your gala gown! Your corset (and video of making it) is wonderful too :D
Internet man be damned lol. I used data to watch this. Also I kinda think I need to put more stuffing in mine after seeing this, mine's a bit flat.
Found you from Bernadette Banners CoCo posts. Love your style!
It's so cool to see you gradually put together pieces for a finished costume (I'm assuming the 1890's worth gown you mentioned in Morgan Donner's video?). It's nice to see you put perspective on a costume by breaking it down into smaller pieces, it makes it easier to not be so intimidated by larger projects!
Dear Enchanted Rose,
I was fortunate enough to find you on a Costume College video somewhere between Miss B Banner and a Ms Lister. Wait that was Ms Hay. I feel I've discovered all of you by myself but in truth... too lazy! Keep up the great work. I am, of course, subscribed. (Better check I actually am.) Farewell for now! đđ»đšđ đŠđŠđș
Oh dear just read that back. I hope it is taken in the spirit it is intended. I love the two afore named women.
đ
Yay for this, I am making one this afternoon, albeit way different than this one, but this video is still a good motivator. Also, I loved your outtakes at the end!
I found your channel where apparently everyone else did, from Bernadette Banner, and I'm so glad I did! I love hearing voices from home. :) (I'm a former lower mainlander, now living in AB.)
Hello from Australia! The grommets are such a good idea! I'd never seen those before. I'm new to your channel (fairly new, anyway) and found my way here from Bernadette Banner's Q & A video where she mentioned you and a few other historical garment creators.
Hello! Welcome đ
Something else you can do for tufting is use 4 threads on the same needle then knot it. It makes it just a little quicker
I found you via the recent coco video on Bernadette's channel.
Great video. I discovered your channel through Bernadette Banner, I believe. Or the suggested channels list.
Wow!!! While my bust and waist are relatively in line with the chart, my hips are a full 16 inches SMALLER than the chart!!! No, I don't have any "junk in my trunk", nor do I think I want any. My hips are the smallest thing on me!!!
I found you through that collaboration video with you, Morgan Donner, Bernidette and the other wonderful woman who's name escapes me đ
Cathy Hay
Thank you đ
I came here from Bernadette Banner's channel. :) this is my first video of yours that I am watching, but I am interested in many other projects you have posted. :D
Welcome đ
yay! so excited for an upload!!... im going to take a guess... you read ACOTAR series... that crown behind you and your dress from CoCo.. very... night court ;-)
I haven't actually read the series, but I have been told that I must by several people. I have added it to my queue for audiobooks to listen to while I sew this fall!
@@EnchantedRoseCostumes omg it's an amazing series. I have listened to the audiobook about 4 or 5 times now. When I saw your gala dress that's what I reminded me of. And the crown you wore was beautiful!
Found you on Bernadette's costume college vlog and I'm so excited. These are stunning! The black with the grommets make them look almost... tactical? Does that make sense XD
