  • Today I am taking you along while I am building my own Seiko 6105-8110 Captain Willard Homage.
    I can tell you that building your own version/clone or homage of a watch that you really like will give you more pride of ownership than just buying a cheap homage from Aliexpress.

      But the NH38 doesn't have a date complication. This watch has a date window, so the NH35 is the correct choice.

    I have found that in most cases the stem that comes with the movement fits perfect in the case just changing out the crown. Great job and the Seiko on the dial is just fine since it is a Seiko movement. The case back will not have a serial number any way.

    @justmeeagainn Před rokem +4

    If you put the band into a coffee mug and then pour hot water over it and let it sit for a couple of minutes, the stiff band will more or less take on the shape of a wrist, and make wearing it a lot easier. Be sure to spill out the hot water and fill the coffee cup with cold water over the band after so you don't burn your hands removing the band.

    • @HeikosGarage

      That is a great idea. I'll try that. Thanks

    Great build. I'm doing a similar thing but cheating by starting with a Steeldive SD1970 Willard homage, which is 20mm lugs, ceramic bezel and regular crown. But it's close enough for me. I am doing a dial swap on it from Seikosis, and have it on a FKM waffle strap from juelong. I'll also polish the crown smooth to remove the thinly-etched steeldive logo, and put on a sterile thin caseback.

    If you want to build the closest homage to the captain Willard to look like the original. Mod the rdunae Willard watch by getting a seiko dial and get a 19mm uncle seiko waffle strap.

    • @HeikosGarage
      @HeikosGarage  Před rokem +2

      I actually intentionally didn't want to make it to close because I was afraid people would say I am creating a fake. I just wanted to be close to the original dimensions and the strap width. I will for sure check out the eagle strap you suggested. Thanks for your comment.

    • @sukhjitsingh6288
      @sukhjitsingh6288 Před rokem +1

      @HeikosGarage using a seiko dial, you have made a fake in your video, so it makes no difference what people say.

      @mrmagoo.3678 Před rokem

      @@sukhjitsingh6288 it's not a fake, it's a Mod.. it's not been designed to fool people into thinking it's a genuine Seiko has it?.. after market strap, no seiko brandings/markings on case etc.. only a aftermarket dial that was supposed to be unmarked/blank (so no intention has been made to fool) besides...If it makes "No difference what people say".. then why are you trying to be a d/ck and say it's fake when it's blatantly not?.

    To form that rubber strap, roll it up and put it into a shot glass or something similar, then pour boiling water in there with the rolled-up strap and let it sit until it all cools. The strap will come out with a pronounced curl, and you can repeat the process or use different sizes of shot glass/drinking glass to get the amount of curve that fits your wrist. Works like a charm on cheaper/harder rubber dive straps

    Friend, should the NH35 movement be crown at 3.8

    • @HeikosGarage
      @HeikosGarage  Před měsícem

      There are two versions of NH35, one is for a 3 o'clock position and the other is for a 4 o'clock position. As I understand it the 3 o'clock version can also be used for cases that have the crown at 3.8 due to the date wheel aligning with the window even when the crown is at 3.8. The 4 o'clock version is the one I used here. I know my crown is slightly past 4 o'clock but I haven't noticed no misalignment. You also have to make sure you get a dial with dial feet in the correct location for your installation. I guys I got lucky that it all worked out the way it did.

    Leider gibt es das verlinkte Zifferblatt nicht mehr bei AE, gibt es eine Alternative für die Datumsposition bei 4.1 mit passenden Zifferblattfüßen? Ich mag die unprofessionelle Flickschusterei mit doppelseitigem Klebeband nicht…

    • @HeikosGarage
      @HeikosGarage  Před 4 měsíci

      Da das Uhrwerk und auch das Uhr Gehäuse sehr verbreitet ist, kann man jede Menge Ziffernblätter finden. In diesem Fall muss man nur ein Zifferblatt finden, dass 28.5mm im Durchmesser ist und für ein NH35 paßt.
      Viel Erfolg
