Welcome back to Boxing After Dark, In todays video we dive into the heavyweight showdown from 1997. With Riddick Bowe Taking on the undefeated Andrew Golota
Apologies for the reupload, the original ran into a few issues. I've been so busy with creating videos lately that I haven't had time to interact with many comments, so this is a good time to ask for any suggestions moving forward! Sorry again for the reupload and if you're here for the second time I would appreciate it if you could drop a like to help us out.
Worth a second watch honestly. Totally forgotten just how wild that second fight was. Still the most senseless self DQ I've ever seen. Golota had that one in the bag, no pun intended.
Golata did have his problems. But one thing no one has mentioned is that I thought trainer Roger Bloodworth was a detriment to Golota because he was too emotional throughout the fight (cussing and yelling at Golota between every round). I say Golota would have benefited from a calm, instructive cornerman. Like the Petronelli brothers (Hagler) for example.
true, also Golota was not english native. he speaks english but it's far away from being natural for you. and this is the factor why no american trainer could handle Andrew psychic demons and cure and help him the way he needed.
Hit him under groin 5 times in a match, I still can't believe this since I have never seen anything like that! Even the refree was nice that he took that shit so far!
Watching this made me can't wait until Christmas, I just kept hearing "jingle bells" in my head... I won't lie, Golotta had this fight in the bag... he def had Bowe's #, and I'm a big Bowe fan...
Golota was really a great fighter. He was just an asshole and had anger issues. He was schooling one of the greatest heavyweights of all time but couldnt stop himself from making it a brawl. Wholy unnecessary
Yea man , guy was a natural and a savage of a fighter, too bad his mental lapse got the best of him , could have had 2 wins over a great fighter under his belt to talk to his grandkids about
Imagine you have the God given talent to box the bejeebers out of the greatest hw in the world and then you have this quirk in your brain which prevent you to capitalize on that talent. So much talent et wasted in Golota. Man he was savage! But also he was bat-crazy. Two outright good refereeing decisions. Those low blows hurt me even so much years later. Ouch!
@Coxy_Wrecked To be fair, I suspect there had been a degree of ongoing decline in Bowe's career, given what had been his perilous mental state. His fights against Holyfield were world-class, though. There will always be question marks over his refusal to fight Lewis (apparently), but early Bowe was a brutal proposition. Of course, Golota was very tough, but his pedigree (fear, I guess) got wildly exposed against Tyson, and the Lewis fight wrecked him. Ain't boxing a strange business?
@@biggerissues6085 One of the great dissapointments in heavyweight boxing is never seeing Lewis and Bowe fight. I'm pretty sure Bowe didn't take the fight because he thought he'd lose but i guess we'll never know for sure.
People who don’t watch Bowe and only really see this fight always have the impression Golata was on his way to a win. Literally zero chance. There’s a reason Golata got overtly dirty to get DQed on purpose. Bowe CRACKS in the middle rounds just as adrenaline dumps start fully depleting and right as his opponent begins to punch out. Add on his other worldly chin and his tendency to literally just walk through damage like nothing, that’s insanely demoralizing. Golata was just starting to get absolutely hammered. Go rewatch the full fight rounds 5 and 6 especially and notice the amount of power behind the shots Golata had to endure and how they actually were even bigger than early shots from an enormous Bowe
The only reason I am lost with this polish guy is he was actually going to win this fight why low blow 3 times In a row and get disqualified when your ahead?
#AnotherOne 🏆 Loving the content! I would love to see one for Errol Spence JR Vs Brook next 💪🏿 … A very underrated fight in my opinion. The Special One defends his World Title in hometown, Sheffield England Vs the young hungry contender from the States, The Truth.
If Golota fought fair and square, he could've probably won the fight. The fight is toe to toe and exciting except for the low blows. Too bad Bowe is in the brink of losing but Golota can't stop himself from doing his usual stuff.😊
OH MY GOD! Bowe took over 200+ -power clean shots in that 2nd fight. The score card even with all the deductions musta been so lopsided.... ~Seriously, CTE should be a concern. Ive never seen someone take that many Tyson like power hits to the head & body.. ~Right befor ethe 2nd DQ you can see Bowe's stomach/Ribs are butter. I bet he had broken ribs. 18:57 look at the way Bowe is double covering his stomach. Im surprised he didn't puke.. He earned my respect for sure & Bowe is Super Lucky Golota has a low blow problem cause he had -0- chance of winning wither fights.... Bowe Hit back of the head several times in both fights btw. IMO he was trolling Golota cause c'mon now Bowe isnt stupid. He knows he ha dno defense for Golota's double jab and SUPOER BODY HOOKS.. My God thos ehooks to the body are terrifying af!
I feel that golota was tired of the ref saying his punches were low (i agree they were ) said the hell with it might as well go real low 😵 🥚🥚🍳this is the ref that should have worked the Vargas vs tito bout
It’s horrible but in a way, it’s almost funny watching him just choose to throw combos on Bowe’s junk…. Like what in the world? It’s not just one shot, it’s not like just when he thinks he can get away with it or has no options… he could keep hitting Bowe in the face freely and just randomly decides to tee off on his crotch. This shit is absurd
Bowe was done after the Holyfield rematch ko in ‘95. He was mentally weak and the bullying physicality he possessed to dominate his opps with was dwindling. He was in poor shape for both Golota fights and lucky his foe had probably the worst discipline of any pro fighter I’ve ever watched. Golota still the only boxer I’ve seen that threw intentional 3-4 punch combos to the groin.
I'm baffled by this man's logic. He could've beaten him straight up instead being dirty
Gee, the sport is NEVER fixed..o never....you're my sweet boxin crazy pug0liss hero sandwich. I lub...O000ooOo, oooomie sweet meatty azz bawl
Gotta appreciate how tough Bowe is, absolute tank
oh...he can't talk today because of it.
What do you mean by these words?
“I had to bite the mf” 💀💀💀
Apologies for the reupload, the original ran into a few issues.

Here for a second time, but I love Riddick Bowe, so here's your like!
I'd love to see more James Toney! How about his fight with Roy Jones or the war with Jirov?
Worth a second watch honestly. Totally forgotten just how wild that second fight was. Still the most senseless self DQ I've ever seen. Golota had that one in the bag, no pun intended.
Trinidad’s return would be fun to see on here. That first round where mayorga put his hands down was intense watching it live
I’m a boxing nut, especially the eras most of your vids are about. Love your channel!

These Vids Are a "Time-Machine".
(Taking Us Back to "TheGoldenYears" of HBO Boxing.)
Hit him under groin 5 times in a match, I still can't believe this since I have never seen anything like that! Even the refree was nice that he took that shit so far!
Poor Bowe.....got jock checked
I'm not into boxing, but I've been going hard on this channel the last few days
These are the comments I love to read, thank you!
This channel actually got me interested in boxing
Watching this made me can't wait until Christmas,
I just kept hearing "jingle bells" in my head...
I won't lie,
Golotta had this fight in the bag...
he def had Bowe's #,
and I'm a big Bowe fan...
Did Golota owe the mafia a favor throwing the fights like that? Someone must have had some big big money riding on Bowe.
My thoughts exactly
Without the low blows bowe was getting the brakes beat off him
Golota was really a great fighter. He was just an asshole and had anger issues. He was schooling one of the greatest heavyweights of all time but couldnt stop himself from making it a brawl. Wholy unnecessary
Maybe the low blows were effecting bowes performance ?punches 🥊to the nuts 🥜 from a 6’4 240 man probably would take yo legs away just saying
No way them low blows and rabbit punching was effecting Bowes performance tremendous
@@amazintay2830he was beating him BEFORE THAT..Also Golota had Bowe out on his feet in the 2nd fight...Bowe just peaked out in 93'.
Yea man , guy was a natural and a savage of a fighter, too bad his mental lapse got the best of him , could have had 2 wins over a great fighter under his belt to talk to his grandkids about
Bonkers fight lol bowe was getting smashed to bits too
Imagine you have the God given talent to box the bejeebers out of the greatest hw in the world and then you have this quirk in your brain which prevent you to capitalize on that talent. Yeah he was probably one of the best but he had some serious demons.
Dude is too used to fighting in Pubs.
He was as tough as he was dirty. Extra strength.
Not really. Lewis utterly destroyed him like a child.
@@biggerissues6085 He looked really impressive against Bowe but perhaps Bowe was in rapid decline at the time,as his next few fights suggested.

Imagine trying to get your riot on and being behind George foreman. What a terrifying situation for those people.
Love your channel....from Australia 🇦🇺
Another classic. You do a great job with these videos, really appreciate your style man.
golota was ahead on points
19:05 “LOW BLOWS”
Goooolooootaa❤
The only reason I am lost with this polish guy is he was actually going to win this fight why low blow 3 times In a row and get disqualified when your ahead?
Golota mentioned he had a broken jaw and couldn't stand the pain any longer.
Golota Looks Like Each One of His Punches, Hits Riddick Like a Refridgerator!
(Not Those "Low-Blows")😒
Would love it if you could do Lewis vs Golota or Tyson vs Golota!
Tyson has fought Golota long time ago and that match has ended up on a ridiculous way lol! 😋😄
Was it the legendary nights clips that got you in trouble?

I actually am going to start working on a brook fight today, but it's not against errol
19:02 , that combo is a reaper
just found this channel ! incredible work . also love some of the instrumentals . hmu i got some heat instr. you could use too . 💯🐐
The testicular destruction of Riddick Bowe.
Golota was not an American citizen. The referee did not see back of the head hits from Bowe.
You videos are great mate. Edited well, great and not yet overwhelming talk whilst the S#$T goes down. Just spot on commentary.
Subscribed. ❤
Bowe's wars with Holyfield tore him down and Golota kicked his ass.. well, when he wasn't punching his balls, that is 😅
YOU NEED TO DO ZAB VS FLOYD!
One of his coaches try gouging out that mans eye
Never cared for either of these fighters but Golota is a true SOB. Some of the worst refs I've ever seen.
He was nuts, not uncooperative.
If Golota fought fair and square, he could've probably won the fight. The fight is toe to toe and exciting except for the low blows. Too bad Bowe is in the brink of losing but Golota can't stop himself from doing his usual stuff.😊
Golota was destroying bowe..the fix had to be in.

Has Golota ever given a reason for doing that? He was winning. What was the point?
Good job ref
would have loved to see Bowe unload a shot right to Golottas balls
Golota ended his own carreer. Disqualified himself. Which is a shame, cuz he coulda been great.
It’s horrible but in a way, it’s almost funny watching him just choose to throw combos on Bowe’s junk…. Like what in the world? According to most "Hardcore" boxing fans Dubois beat Usyk, so clearly Golota was robbed against Bowe...
Oh. Galota fought dirty and he got robbed. 😂😂😂
did
Golota is better than Riddick u all know it . I love bow but Golota has his measure .
Bowe has the throwing shots to the back of the Head of G. This vid is sooo Biasss. G still a cheat tho.
Dirty fighter
Riddick bowe was a warrior golota couldn't. Break him that why he low blowed him.he want a way out he was mentally weak andrew was a waste of talent
I sense racist from golata
Doesn’t think rules don’t apply to him, ha just like trump
Bowe would have lost both fights. Stupidity in a Stupid sport.
Was Golata ever accused of steriods? In my opinion, he appeared to be roided out. He displays uncontrolled rage and his back was acne ridden
Definitely on steroids. Strange he has never been caught, that also explains his mental behaviour.

I just watched this same video yesterday
I had to reupload it sadly
It looked like a clean blow to me . 🤔
