IDK, man, at least Kirkland was respectful. Some of those other guys deserved even more than they got; Kirkland was just confident. That confidence wasn't enough, but at least he wasn't disrespectful

Here ‘s the thing. Acting the fool never does anything but strengthen the resolve of the opponent, with a few exceptions, and when you get stomped, you end up as a fool for eternity in one of these videos.
Paez was taught the first 2 rules of boxing:
1 Respect your opponent.
2. Protect yourself at all times.
Hopefully he'll have remembered them the next time he entered the ring.

As a professional punching bag for better fighters, he sold himself well by making the pre-determined winner earn a lot of credit with the spectators. Basically he was being a real life heel, and I would say it worked out for him. He even got to fight (and lose to) Browne again.

I don't think Kirkland should be in this list. His prefight speeches were just the normal "I'm gonna win" sort of things that every fighter says. He wasn't disrespectful and didn't act like a fool in the ring.
I don't understand why Kirkland is on this list? He wasn't cocky duing the build up. Definitely wasn't cocky in the fight itself. It's never been his style to be cocky. Yeah he was confident in himself and what he could do, but what is he supposed to say? "I think Canelo is better than me. I'm just getting in the ring to get knocked out and get paid." Why train a box if you don't think you can win?

I felt sorry for James Kirkland, again we had a fighter whos antics outside the ring prevented him to progress further in the sport. He really did have massive potential. Its a sad ending to a guy who could have gone a long way in the sport.
I don't know him well, but honestly (based ion what I did see), a lot of his interviews were more interesting than the usual interviews we tend to hear in sports...
What I mean is that, due to his willingness to be more honestly forthcoming and open (rather than prudent and purely money-conscious/pc/diplomatic), we were able to hear a few more of his genuine insights about stuff.
Sometimes I'll listen to interviews of various sports figures and they will be SO boring and banal that it makes me disengage immediately and flip to watch something else.
I just listened to Lennox Lewis the other day talking about this and that and, though he spoke clearly, he offered absolutley NOTHING even slightly illuminating or interesting.
Antics is one thing. Commitment is another..

Yeah, idk about that Klitchko vs. Charr match… seemed like a bit of WWE style KayFabe to me. I’m not one to call everything “Russian propaganda” (like the mainstream media and a certain political party) but the fact that Charr’s shorts and robe had, “Uncle Sam” printed on them and how he so perfectly played the role of the cocky, undisciplined, puny little American who showed no respect for his Russian opponent and Klitchko played the role of the humble, confident, respectful, massive Russian who wasn’t intimidated by the American and then pummeled him, strikes me as a little too on-the-nose. It was like a Russian remake of Rocky 5. 😂. God bless you my Russian brothers and sisters. You aren’t my enemy. And I think more than half of America feels the same.
