Wow 😍 Your comment gave me a spark. I'm a South Indian but I always felt dragged to watching Kathak and trying to dance as a kid. As I was not interested in any other South Indian dance forms I didn't learned dance. I'm 27 now and from past 3-4 years I've this urge to learn Kathak. I feel like I'm missing something by not even trying to learn it. Like I should have done it as a child if I only found a Kathak teacher. I hope to find a good teacher near me now and my husband and in-laws to support my wish. I feel like I can do too as you learned.🙏🥰

Oh wow. You are inspiring me now. I am currently 47. And I am actually very much interested in learning kathak for 2 reasons.
      1. I have been learning Hindustani classical vocal and learning kathak will help me with gaining mastery with taal.
      2. Learning kathak will help as a form of exercise. I am really not interested in doing any stage performances in kathak as I am a singer. I am interested learning kathak for health purposes. To maintain good muscle tone and bone density and heart rate etc..

Thank u pali ji- i took only few workshops in india. Being over 45 then- having my first steps and experience- it is so reviving. When i came back to a beloved senior aged ladies group- for sharing yoga practice- they asked for additional kind of movement. So i applied some dance and hastaks movements ( inspired by ypur teaching) - these ladies over 70 years old- had suddenly grown wings and danced so happily as of they didnt have any injuries pr ailments- it was amazing to see how high spirit uplift the bodu. Thank u for your inspiring teachings. Be blessed with all the very best;)

I started learning Kuchipudi recently when I turned 26. I have always loved dance since childhood but could never learn any form due to unavailability of resources and my own negligence. Most people think it's impossible to learn at this age. Its a faux. I see little kids also find difficulty in learning. It is difficult for everyone in the beginning. Only with consistent practice, we get comfortable. I personally found 1st class very difficult and from 2nd, it is fine. I need develop more stamina but it doesn't seem impossible with incremental improvements that I could experience. My dance teacher asked me to take 1st level exam in the August. Go ahead if you want to learn. Don't let your age stop you. If you are someone who is already into fitness, then you need not fear anything. Habit of cycling, skipping, squatting are helping me cope better.

I've been learning about Indian culture, hindi for yrs & wanting to learn classical dance, as well. I was a dancer my whole life, until I got sick at 20yrs. It's been a long time struggling with my health, but dance is what is keeping me going.
I'm not near a city that has in person classes, so I'll learn here. It does make me sad that I ask for permission to do the things that spark my spirituality & creative life.

I'm a university student from Italy and I've always danced, though I've never done ballet or some serious technical courses. Last year I had to give up dance sadly but I always dance on my own because dance is a part of me that I can't ignore. Since I discovered it four years ago, I feel very connected to Indian classical dance and currently one of my biggest dreams is to learn Kathak and all the culture behind it. If I'm lucky I will join a course after I finish my studies and I find a job so I can pay for it. Meanwhile I'll watch all these videos on youtube 🥰🥰

I am 47 year old, i used to dance when i was small but never learned classical as had no opportunity. did my masters and my phd after i truned 42, and i decided now i want fo follow my passion, started with bharatanayam 6 months back, and i have to say i am loving it, i am a full time working person plus mother and i have to say the dance is the one thing i enjoy and i feel thats my me time. when i started it was hard, then i started to do yoga tried strecthing excercise beacuse no matter what i wanted my body to adapt to some thing what my heart and mind loves. so i have to say i pushed my body where my heart lies and i am there and i want to continue …….dance is what i want to do the rest of the life.
