- The Smittybilt Overland Roof Top Tent is SO rad! I've had this tent for almost 3 years now, and couldn't be happier with it! It works great on the Jeep, and works great on the Subaru without any modifications! We were able to clamp it down right to the stock Subaru racks!

Hey did you adjust the Subaru racks at all? Did you move the rear crossbar further back to further distribute the weight?
Yeah! But that’s it, they did great

@@HotSizzleAnd1 I read online that the tent weighs less than the static rating on the racks, and the dynamic rating was a lot more
I just looked at the racks again, I actually moved the rear crossbar to the first one? The tent wasn’t big enough to span the distance of the racks if the crossbars were set at their widest. Hope this helps!
I have 2011 subaru outback would a roof top tent hard shell would work for my car ?
Just put a Gen 2 onto a 16 Crosstrek, only issue i am having is with the stock subaru aero bars. The tents mounts kind of misalign the plates and the bolts and mounts sit somewhat at an angle. Wonder if your rack has a wider span than mine now that i see it.
I’m not too sure the difference in rack widths between the 2, but I know with ours I had to adjust the bar so it’s more narrow instead of the other spread out length
@@Flying90 Over tent floor only has one set of holes drilled for mounting. Or was it the roof rack you had adjusted as mentioned above? Thanks man!
Ahh actually I think the cross bar you have is much flatter and the ends are not as bulky per say as the aero bars for crosstreks.
What model is this? It doesn't exceed the roof weight limit?
Smittybilt Overlander Tent. Its below the static weight limit on the Subaru racks. From what I've read, as long as its below the static weight then you're good! Went across Wyoming in 60mph winds without any problem
@@Flying90 Thenks. is your tent mounted to the rails that run the length of the vehicle or do you have crossbars?
Ron Cook crossbars. I don’t see why you couldn’t still mount it with the ones that run the length though!
