If there's anything the entire English speaking community can agree on, is that all of our accents can sound absolutely hilarious.
I'm american and both my us accent and other us accents are invariably funny to me. Why do we have so many. It's an unnecessary amount of accents for one country.
Shoutout to Vermont accent havers, we can't say a t at the end of a syllable to save our lives
@dustbunny6381 hah that's funny! I'm from Colorado and I realized we don't pronounce our t either. I didn't know until someone from Europe pointed that out 😅
And I'm sure it's because we're always saying Rocky Mountains or just mou'ain all the time.
@@GaarasBFF0911 at least you can say the name of your own state right. We butcher Vermont into Vermon' and make fun of people for actually pronouncing the T
i hyave to go byack
I Dont know why Americans always choose just only one accent to mock us while they also have different accents from different states
my (british) mam walked past me while i was watching this video and she pointed to my laptop and just said "she looks like a Fimble" so good job on that makeup
Omg yesss!!! Love that she got it right away 🥲🫡
As a Brit born and raised i encourage you to make fun of the accent, especially us northeners
Correct
Has to do a scouse accent next
@@olithestuffedbear5405 can a have sum chiqqhen and chips
Same here! We all have something funny about our accents and any good sport should be able to laugh at their own(unless it's being imitated with caricature). [But we should especially make fun of the Yorkies]
- Sincerely, an Oxonian.
Meanwhile, Americans also have mockable accents
I like how Athena says she's going to make fun of british accents before doing the most american accent i've ever heard.
More like after xD
I swear, it's like hearing a Russian mock an Aussie and I love it
Marvel wishes they could make a crossover as ambitious as Horrid Henry and Roly Mo
Now, I'm not saying Marvel copied BUT-

ATHENA!! If you’re looking for weird ass British Tv! You NEED to watch Grandpa In my Pocket 💀💀
Grandpa in my pocket was iconic
Yes i remember that show! I swear British kids shows are like fever dreams
Yes that show was great!
YESSS ABSOLUTELYYY
Who in my where now? 🫠
just you wait until you find out about the fucking numberjacks
Those guys were a trip.
Any drugs we know of simply have less value than the drugs the creators were on
I legit thought that show was a weird fever dream I had. I can't believe the numberjacks is a real thing 😭😭
This is gonna sound weird, but I used to watch "The Numberjacks" in Spanish! Thankfully, the great dubbing makes the original English audio seem crazy...
The lore of this show is surprisingly deep
Numberjacks was peak
They're calling "mom" a butchering of "mum" when "mama" actually predates both of them by over a century.
Athena PLEASE bully us british people more its genuinely so funny especially since its actually really refreshing to hear more than the normal same old jokes lmao 😭😭
It's literally the same old jokes with zero twist, but I'll take it since it's Athena and she isn't the _worst_ about us lol
Can we mock American accents
@purplepedantry while yanks have different accents depending on their state
@@skootergirl22
We should >:D
@@purplepedantry icl all i really hear is teeth and knife jokes , but the accent ones are usually just bottle o water jokes so yeah these from athena (to me) are much better + different and actually are funny imo
Im not that far into the video but it sounds like a “fimbling feeling” is just stimming. If I had the ability to make sparkles come out of my fingers by wiggling them, I would do it constantly
I already do it constantly no magic required
Thank you Athena! As a british person this made me so happy! Dick and Dom had a huge huge cultural impact here, every child in the 00s was watching In da bungalow every weekend. I have so many early childhood memories of that show. Everyone would shout bogies so there were a lot of complaints into the show for their bad influence on kids, oops
Their humour is very akin to nickelodeon
Yeah, Dick and Dom are childhood classics. The stoke-on-trent song lives in my head still.
God. Kids shouting bogies constantly in assembly, trying to be as loud as possible and also not get caught. What a time.
As a brit myself I've never heard of half of these shows, lol. But if you want more wacky British shows I do suggest Numberjacks, Go Jetters, and Tree Fu Tom.
TREE FU TOM OMG I REMEBER THAT
I forgot tree Fu Tom and I'm not even British I've been looking for that show forever I thought it was just my imagination that made up some weird fever dream
I am full ass American and I was watching tree fu Tom every day
I WAS LITERALLY ABOUT TO RECOMMEND NUMBERJACKS ESPECIALLY SEASIDE ADVENTURE
Wait...Tree Fu Tom was a British show??? I swear this happens to me every time I rediscover a show from my childhood.
"DONT GET YOUR KNICKERS IN A TWIST BRUV."
Athena, I hope you realize how much of an impact you have on your fans. I had to use every ounce of restraint in my body to not use the phrase “The titular Bitchular” in my university english essay 😭
HELP REAL THOUGH
I think you'd love the BBC childrens show 'Strange Hill High'. It's... certainly something.
It is when I was re-watching it .I was WTF when watching the first season. It was like if Gravity Falls was British and extremely dark.
yes, finally an accurate portrayal of british secondary schools
That was a children's show?
@@agentkmr yep it aired on cbbc
@@agentkmr yeah (: that's why postman pat is in there, obs (:
I think you should watch "The Upside Down Show", maybe you need to see a clip to inspire you. I recommend "Udder Chaos" as a starting point
There are a good chunk of episodes on CZcams!
This show is the reason I can't touch a remote without going *whoosh* The Remote!
yesssss it’s totally nuts!!
MY GOD THE UPSIDEDOWN SHOW WAS SUCH A GREAT SHOW! SUCH CREATIVITY, IMAGINATION AND JUST LET YOUR CHILDHOOD FREE IN THAT SHOW OFFERS! ✨💜💛💜💛💜💛💜✨
That was my show Shane David
Gurple is the realest color
If Athena can do The Fimbles, Dic & Dom, Horrid Henry, Roly Mo and Octonauts....she's gotta do The Lingo Show one day
Oh god I remember
Literally was just rewatching octonauts
The Fimbles are absolute icons
BEGGING for a part 2 of British kids' shows: the Wombles, the Herbs, and/or Horrible Histories (series 1-5)🙏🙏🙏
YES
HORRIBLE HISTORIES FOR THE WIN
I really hope Bagpuss is in this video. That cat was an icon
Bagpuss
Bagpuss y
Bussy
Omg yes Bagpuss is best cat!
I loved Bagpuss- I was born too late to watch it on air but my parents got a dvd and put it on for me. Professor Yaffle is best birb.
The OST of the show is also one of two things that can be relied upon to just break me down into tears
@phoenixfire6433 My parents got me a VHS of it and I'd watch it constantly cuz I also adored the songs. The Miller's Song was/is still my favourite!
BAG. PUSS.
Trust me, you've barely touched the tip of the British Kids Show Iceberg. We Brits grow up with some crazy shiz.
I recommend Dangermouse, Count Duckula, Mona the Vampire, Tweenies, Blues Clues UK Version, and The Hoobs, which Jim Henson made as a British Sesame Street replacement show, as they stopped airing Sesame Street here in the 90s
Y O U N G D R A C U L A
Someone else remembers the Hoobs?! My day just got a thousand times better.
This is one of the videos I am most excited for as this is so much of my childhood. Come Buttlovers! It's time for BBBBBOOOOGGGGIIIEESSSS
Scrolling through the comments looking for the 2 british people who genuinely had their day ruined by athena mocking that one commenter
It confuses me so much 😅 (lots of unsubscribes from this vid too 👀) I never get offended by people making fun of Americans!! We deserve it!!!!! Let’s all just take the piss
@@AthenaPOfficialno way
As a brit, i hope you continue doing the accent, it's funny
I laughed way too loudly at "I did a whizz in my little pantaloons" lmao
I was laughing at how my brain responded with "Mum! I sh*t in me knickers!".
Skittles is basically like bowling, but the pins are placed like a diamond shape and the balls are smaller
As someone who watches a few CBeebies stuff still today, I have some suggestions you should take into account at some point:
Brum - A show about a small yellow car that acts as a sort of superhero and is also a fast paced comedy (season 3-5 that is)
Waybuloo - A magical show about 4 little flying animals (called Piplings) who walk around solving problems (and has a gorgeous soundtrack) *DISCLAIMER* Don't watch the ones that have a 12 minute run time, watch the 19 minute ones
ZingZillas - A musical show about 4 monkeys in a band on a tropical island that teaches about various musical instruments (and there's a new song every episode)
the chorus of the zingzillas litter song escapes containment in my brain too often
brum! god i love brum! bc my mum was a fan of classic doctor who, she found it so funny when i became obsessed with it bc brum is just bessie with eyes
I remember Waybuloo, and I'm Canadian.
I grew up in the 2000s and so the Fimbles, Rolymo and Dick & Dom were classic staples.
Recently I actually made a playlist to remember what shows I grew up with so here's a way too long list.
- The Story Makers
- Yo Ho Ahoy (adorable little felt stop motion pirates that can only say: yo ho ahoy)
- Rubbadubbers
- Old Bear (based off a pre-existing book series)
- Number Jacks
- Nina and the neurons
- 64 Zoo Lane (most Brits born in the 2000s can still recall the theme song)
- Big Cook Little Cook (heard it was revived a couple of years ago, but with different actors)
- Balamory (I actually went to the real filming location as a child, in Tobermory, Isle of Mull in Scotland)
- Fifi and the Flowertots
- Bob the Builder
- Underground Ernie (pretty terrifying CG show that tried to coast a little off of Thomas the Tank Engine's popularity)
- Charlie & Lola (also based off a book series)
Then there's several iconic shows that had older versions, but had newer designs in the 2000s (some going from stop-motion to CG): Andy Pandy, Noddy, Bill & Ben, Thomas the Tank Engine, Postman Pat & Fireman Sam.
And a couple international shows that were also shown in the UK:
- Bottle Top Bill (Australian)
- Koala Brothers (Australian)
- Lunar Jim (Canadian)
64, 64, 64 Zoo lane!
64, 64, 64 Zoo lane!
And to and on to the list - Sarah & Duck, and what I’ve recently learned was called Kerwhizz (
As a Brit this is very fun to see an Athena P x Britain collaboration and im very excited to watch as always
this video has unlocked memories i thought would never see the light of day again
i don't know if i should celebrate or cry
Take a look at Strange Hill High for more weird British kids shows
that show felt like a fever dream, definitely up her alley
I always felt like I was the only person who watched that show and now I keep seeing it pop up everywhere, I'm glad I wasn't the only one because it slapped
as a british person, you mocking our accent is the funniest shit ever. please continue.
The only British puppet show I grew up watching was called The Hoobs (which was made by the Jim Henson Company). It used to air on Sprout in the US, so that’s where I watched it, and I remember watching an entire marathon of the show when it first premiered. But I honestly don’t remember any of the scenes. The theme song slapped though. 😂
MY GOD THE HOOBS WERE MY JAM
You should've talked about little princess by tony ross (illistrist of the horrid Henry books). Let me tell you, that kingdom is nuts. The king and queen dress in normal middle class clothes, the knight and admiral are men children and there's not much of a kingdom around, so who knows what they are rulers of.
Wait till she finds out about the Tweenies lol
I used to watch that show at my maternal grandmother’s house. Although, I grew up watching it in Swedish (since I’m from Sweden)
I still have my VHS tapes of the Tweenies
Oh lord help her if she delves into that show. Especially the banned episode of Max pretending to be Jimmy Savile before the revelations. 😬😬😬
I'd love to see her do a Tweenies vid!
Tweenies was dope
Here's hoping for an eventual lore lite on Grizzly Tales for Gruesome Kids, Mona the Vampire or perhaps Totally spies.
I would love a lore vid on In The Night Garden because I am 100% convinced that show was a fever dream 😍😍😍
YES. I have been wondering if iggle piggle is like, dead in the intro for years and that's just the tip of the iceberg, I need the ninky nonk (apologies for spelling) lore desperately
That show was one of my favourites. I was watching that in secondary school.
Not me finding this comment after I said “The Fimbles kinda remind me of those weird guys who lives in the bush house from In the night garden”
Also, my deepest apologies if my grammar is not that great.
A very long time ago, there was a radio series for kids called "Listen With Mother". This is where Roly Mo's phrase "Are you sitting comfortably? Good. Then I'll begin..." comes from.
Roly Mo is like a grandad who knows everything
As a Brit, the cultural phenomenon and staying power of "Bogies" is something I can never explain to an American. 😅
I concur. We will remember, forever. ✊🏼
As an American, don't worry, we have an equivalent. Only our chosen word was not "Bogeys," but instead the word "Penis"
In my experience it was known as simply The Penis Game and it was played on the back of the bus by the middle schoolers when they weren't busy being racist or vaping.
God bless America ❤️🤍💙🌟💥🇺🇲🦅🇺🇲🦅🇺🇲💥💫🌠
For some it's terrifying, for me IT'S PURE NOSTAGIA (grew up with Cbeebies after all xD)
This show, Bobinogs, Tweenies, Numberjacks, Kerwizz, Nina and the Neurons, Big Cook, Little Cook, The Large Family, Big and Small, I Can Cook, The Shiny Show, Squiggling with Squigglet, Boj, The Numtums, Little Red Tractor, Postman Pat, Andy Pandy, The Magic Roundabout, 3rd and Bird, Zingzillas, Zou, Rastamouse, Charlie and Lola (although that one was rather on Discovery Kids)... ahhh, the memories, those were the days... (the funniest part is that I'm mexican) xDDD
Oh, and if you truly want to experience the TRUE madness, try In The Night Garden, Athena; it's a fairytale esque puppets show (also developed by Ragdoll, but not as terrifying as their past project [CURSE YOU, BOOHBAH]), it's very reminescent to Teletubbies but sorta more captivating and chaotic, deffo a laughing stock, check it out if you have the opportunity! 😋
FUCK YEAH BIG AND SMALL
Big and Small >>>>>>>
Kerwizz?
Oh blimey, that’s the show that lived rent free in the back of my mind for a decade.
Love these!
Bro, I'm Canadian, and I remember In the Night Garden I was obsessed with that show as a kid. I had Upsy Daisy and Makka Pakka plushes that I carried around everywhere, even to the cottage when we went on vacations
TBH a lot of shows I watched when I was a kid were British or Irish. Thomas, ITNG, Angelina Ballerina, Waybuloo, it was so weird how much British stuff they played on Treehouse
When Athena was talking about the big red chicken, I was shocked at how cute it looked. And I love how Athena mentioned Horrid Henry again. Rockit is the weirdest frog I’ve ever seen
25:28 Splatalot??? I remember binging that show as a kid! I thought of it as an alternative to Wipeout when it wasn't on at the time.
Omg Id love it if you had a look into either the Tweenies or Come Outside, the Tweenies is a costumed fever dream that had my first ever crush (Jake) and come outside was wholesome but also scarred me for life, if I remember correctly I swear the main lady almost burns alive in an episode lol
Top Tip: When reading out insults in an English accent, use a northern one. My accent is North Welsh which is quite similar to Southern English but I grew up in Northern England and put their accent on any time I'm insulting anyone 👍👍
ALSO a list of stuff for you to watch:
Stuff I watched as a kid/early teen born in 2008:
-Waybuloos
-Numberjacks
-Grandpa In My Pocket
-Strange Hill High - actually really good but still was a collective fever dream
-Tree Fu Tom
-In The Night Garden
-Abney and Teal
-Class Dismissed - don't think it's really your style since it's not super trippy, just really weird (yes, those are two different things)
-Dipdap
-Balamory - don't remember anything about it but because it's contemporary and set in a small community I can only assume it's a soap opera for kids
-Charlie and Lola - pretty grounded but could be fun because I remember Lola being really annoying
-Tweenies
-Bottletop Bill and his Best Friend Corky
-64 Zoo Lane
-Mr Maker
-Nina and the Neurons
-Swashbucklers
-Kerwhizz - I was looking for this for so long because it was just a fever dream I didn't know anything about it
-Rastamouse
-Gigglebiz
-Justin's House
-3rd & Bird
-Show me, show me
-Lazytown
-Alphablocks
-Numberblocks - newer but my little brother watched it as a baby
-The Clangers
-Ben and Holly's Little Kingdom
Older stuff that would be cool:
-Bagpuss
-The Herbs
-Bod
-Mr Ben
I'll update it as I think of more, British kids shows make you wonder how we even remember our childhoods and didn't even wet our pantaloons once because of how much of a trip they were.
The most memorable thing for me is the theme songs. Both Fimbles and Roly Mo have a very cozy, snuggly feeling to them. I’d also like to thank Dick and Dom for getting me into Doctor Who just before the 50th anniversary
The Dick and Dom show reminds me of Dan Schneider productions. Grown men trying to get away with adult jokes on a set with actual children.
One British kids show that I’d LOVE for you to analyze is Numberjacks.
Ben and Holly's little kingdom lore when?

I like the make up you used this episode it reminds me of the book where a girl changed different colors then I think she turned into a room if I remember correctly. It was a neat book that scared me back then but enjoyable now.
Case of the stripes!! I thought of that while I was doing the makeup too
Wellies is a shorter version of wellington boots, what we call rain boots (there's a competition called 'wellywanging' where you throw a boot as far as you can)
Great video!
Wellywanging is the most British sounding word I’ve ever read.
I'm not british but when you where confused about them calling rain boots "wellies" I realised that was a british thing
No, but that bubble waterfall is so pretty 🥺 Gotta get some plastic flowers and clear ball pit balls on a string, and voila 💖
I'm from the good ol' US of A and i vividly remember watching some british show Kipper all the time that was all sweet and calm so this shit was wild to watch in comparison
Kipper was my shit growing up!
When I was a small child, we had a Fimbles inflatable wading-pool. I don’t even remember watching the show because I was about 1 when we moved back to the US.
If Athena needs anymore weird British shows to look at I recommend “strange hill high” it would be very her style and I feel like a fun video could come from it and someone uploaded all the episodes on CZcams
"us brits don't mess around when you make fun of our voice"
speak for yourself mate, i find it hilarious when people take the piss out of my accent
I just find it to be playground nonsense, which is very funny when looking at it as an adult.
'Yeah, my voice is very silly. Now, do you want me to push you on the swingset?'
there are a few shows you’ll have a field day with
in no particular order:
- strange hill high: three kids have to constantly save their extremely weird high school and equally as weird classmates and teachers from monsters and other types of evil (the show has recently had a resurgance in popularity)
- horrible histories: teaching kids the very weird sides of history (based on the book series by terry deary)
- yonderland: a tired british mum is the chosen one to save the realm of yonderland. stuff goes down (directed by the writers/main actors of horrible histories, the six idiots/themthere)
The "1-2-3" bit might have been based off of the tootsie-pop commercial that was very similar. It had an owl who counted how many licks it took to get to the center of the tootsie-pop, and would say "One, a-two-hoo, a-thr-hee." Though I'm not sure, I still felt it was similar.
Even if I'm wrong, still very funny to be reminded of it.
Roly Mo and *Fireman Sam are the reasons I grew up to love Welsh accents😍

I, for a job, had to watch several episodes of Fimbles like 5 times each (I can't say what job but it didn't pay adequate compensation for what my brain went through). I could hear the theme song in my sleep. When I closed my eyes bright colours assaulted me. I haven't been the same since
I was a British child and I watched this but I don’t remember a single episode. And I had a plushie of the yellow and green one

Dick and dom had such a chokehold on my childhood 😂 they act like twats on TV but I met them as a kid and they were super nice and just genuinely enjoyed making ppl laugh, thank you for spreading the message about watever the living hell kids British TV is
Think I was on my late teens early 20s but I watched the show
As a British person, let me just say we do not claim that comment guy, get mocked sucker, and if you're interested in more british childrens tv shows i do remember one weird one from my childhood, i dont remember the name unfortunately so that sucks for finding it, but it was basically about this farmer and his sentient crops, who would i think either every episode or occasionally would visit the main town where all the kids like... Adored them i think? There was a gourd thing as one and this white bulb one with heavy green leaves on top, i remember because i had them as like mcdonalds toys i think, but there was more, i dont remember if there was any lore bits at all but honestly the idea of sentient crops with a farmer seems on brand i think for this channel? It was in live action but the crops were cgi and animated, might be something fun to watch
That's Mr Bloom! There's 2 shows of him, the regular show, where kids visit his allotment, and Here and There, where he visits them. And he also hosted some Cbeebies pantos! (Like The Ugly Duckling) I haven't seen it in a long time, but I would like to see a lore video on it!
I really hope you do Zoboomafoo lore someday. Fun fact, there's a claymation dinosaur character who gave me nightmares until I was 8.
