  • This video shows how to make Lawakua Warrior Ribbon Lei. I always want to make this lei, but I don’t have any reference to make it until I watch youtube video from Renaissance Mom. • DIY | Warrior Lei | 2 ... . Thank you for the inspiration and showing how to make the lei..
In this video I make with 5/8” ribbons. I’ll make with 3/8” ribbons in the previous video (part 1). You can watch Renaissance Mom’s video for 7/8” ribbons. So you can compare and decide how big you want the lei.
You can make this beautiful flower ribbon lei for graduation, birthday or special events. I hope this video can be helpful. Easy tutorial and show you step by step.
The materials for this lei are:
6 yards 5/8” purple grosgrain ribbon
    9 yards 5/8” purple satin
    6 yards 5/8” yellow satin
    9 yards 5/8" gold ribbon
Fabric Fusion Permanent Fabric Adhesive. You can buy it here amzn.to/3BzvHqg

Yesterday I was with some women of a tribe in New Mexico and they liked the ribbon lei I was wearing. I showed them how to make it and with ribbon I had with me, 3 of them made their own leis. I showed them videos of your other leis and this warrior lei was a popular one they want to try.
So now there is a "cross pollination" of cultures: Hawaiian and Indian. They make beautiful jewelry of various stones and now they are trying your ribbon leis of various colors and styles. Thank you for your wonderful videos of different styles for them to try! We talked about the values of aloha, and of course their indigenous cultures have the same values in different names. I hope that when this pandemic ends you will be able to visit here and attend one of their feast days, enjoy their food and dancing!

Yes.... I love to hear that. Yes... we learned from each other, right? So it's more beautiful and I love to be connected to each other, too. Your observations about different cultures and traditions are so wonderful. I live here in California and I learned a lot from many people around the world, too. I laughed when you mention about food and dancing. 😂😂Thank you for sharing the story. Love from me🌼🌸😘!

I’m going to retry this lei! (You’ve seen the dismal pics) I have bought myself some paper clips and will be more patient with the glue. Mahalo nui loa for always encouraging me 🧡🤙🏽🧡🤙🏽

About how long would this take a newbie to construct and I could only get three 5/7 ribbons? Would I just double up on one color???? I'm using purple, amythyst, and white.... I could probably double up on white.

Hello, to make the single braided lei is quick. The longest time is to wait for the glue to dry and really stick the petals on the lei. You need to be patient with. this. It can take 30 minutes. You can clip them and open them the next day. Then, when you only have 3 rolls, my suggestion is to attach the petals to the double side. So you can insert the petals between the ribbons (watch minute 4:37), so the petals sticked to both sides. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have more questions. Thank you very much. 🌸🌼

Hello, love your beautiful leis. Do you sell these for graduation, school colors, class of 2022, and congrats ribbons?

I have a little shop at Etsy
      www.etsy.com/shop/Momslittlethings?ref=seller-platform-mcnav
I sell graduation leis with school colors. The ribbon 'class of 2022' is not available yet, but I can personalized with the student's name and school's name. Thank you so much.

      Hi there,
do you sell the lawakua warrior ribbon lei, in burgundy/maroon & gray, with silver glitter edge for the petals, in the same colors?
      No personalization.

@@josephinematrese1364 I don't have the ribbons color. Would you try making it? It's not difficult. You are going to make a beautiful one!
