    This feedback is some that’s honestly needed. Obviously I want SoC to be critically successful but I’ve also been covering mobile games for the last half decade nearly and I understand what turns players off and what kind of things makes players scoff at games. I hope this feedback is well received.

    I’ve played a lot of gachas over the years. The systems that only monetize skins and let you summon with only in game resources are definitely my favorite from a collecting standpoint (Azur Lane and GFL being the ones I remember the most). Outside of that, it’s amazing how free daily pulls and a good pity system (Brown Dust 2) can mitigate the FOMO nature of gachas. Hopefully they listen and make it more appealing, if not in the rates than in things like better currency income or an improved pity system. Games the size of Genshin or Wuwa can survive a harsh gacha, but a more niche tactical gacha probably needs a more lenient system to thrive or maybe even survive.

    I hope this game developes like Brown Dust 2. Devs heard and added a ton of improvements. Starting on the same week of launch!!
    The ONLY WAY I forgive the gacha is with QoLs.
    Sweeps, background, skips.
    But no pulls and grindy? That's a garbage recipe. And it makes me more msd because the game looks so good.

      Nah. This game DOES NOT need to be like Brown Dust 2. They don’t need to turn this into a playground for degenerates. No thank you bruh. There’s plenty of games out there for that.
      Developers were good though. So I agree that part. Everything else, no Ty haha .

    Looks like a lot of the limited units from tw/cn are starting out automatically into the standard pool for global? (even nungal, momo, and alexi are all starting units). Seems that banner order for global could be something like edda -> simone -> and then saffiyah which is a bit concerning ngl. Will this mean that global has an extremely early rollout for tower of adversity as well?

    Reread the banner details. You’re guaranteed a 5* in 100 pulls, 50/50 for the featured unit, but you’re guaranteed the featured unit in 180 pulls. If you go to details and scroll down you can see your pulls needed

    I started Octopath traveler on day one and wound up deleting it off my phone about a month ago after a little over two year of gameplay. During that two years, I had maxed out over 15 to 20 5 stars and I had maxed out all my four stars. First couple of years on playing the main content my travelers were more than enough powerful to get through the main storyline. But a little after that two year mark, the power creep had gotten to the point where it was getting harder and harder to fight bosses to the point where each battle took way too long. Octopath traveler was releasing new banners almost on a weekly basis. And it had gotten to the point where in order to progress or have fun you needed to pull on the more recent banners with the more powerful travelers making my five star travelers that I had worked on for the two years almost obsolete. so I had hit a wall and I had felt like I had wasted all that time and resources on travelers who were no longer viable. I’m just hoping that this game isn’t going to be the same. I don’t mind spending a little bit of money to get characters that I really want, but when they become obsolete and the game developers clearly are doing nothing but money grabbing that’s when I have to say goodbye.

  • @antoinedelporte3924
    @antoinedelporte3924 Před 26 dny +7

    Not gonna lie I usually like your content, but there I can't stand blatant mistakes :
    - You don't need to pull multiples times the same unit : there is a stage that can be cleared every day that gives up to 5-7 shards (split between the 5 units on the team used to clear it). The stage has tricks to help you clear it with teams lacking synergy (since the focus is on getting the shards on units), so it's quite easy to clear. It'll take a bit of time (a few months) to max a unit out, but most of the units are already decent at 2 stars and some don't really need the maxxed passive to shine (the healers usually don't get that much of a boost, whilst bruisers like Alexei are really dependant on it to have more variety on their builds).
    - 2% of drop rate is quite fair in the gacha games area, sure it would be nice to get it around 4-5% but it's really ok to play especially in a game that has such a little pvp aspect (compared to games like SW or epic7).
    - At the start of TW server the ressources for summining were indeed scarce after the initial story content clear, that's for sure. But along the line they have added frequent events (some minor, some major that require actually farming specific stages) that give a fair amount of summons, they also brought the weekly reseting tower and another version more challenging, you usually get compensations for maintenance and huge updates. With all that it's more than easy to get a fair shot at sniping the units that you like/want/lack. Sure you won't be able to have every single unit (but well that's kinda the point of a gacha if you're not paying), but as a pure f2p player on TW, I've got more than 10 SSR units (+ a few dupes in the process, which kinda sucks in this game tbf).
    - The banners rotate a lot so you get to try again with enough currencies if a character was released on a poor timing for u.
    This is a gacha game, it has the same flaws as many gachas but overall it's a solid pick for f2p since you'll be able to use most of the SR units if you build a team around your SSR and their synergies. At some point I got bored of using all my SSR to clear the challenges and stages, so I build a few teams centred around a SSR with faction aura (the hanged man faction is way too fun to pass on btw) and I've been able to clear everything so far. So yeah...^^

      Look. It’s all fine and dandy that we can farm units. And I’m aware of that. And regardless of all that stuff you said, FIRST IMPRESSIONS MATTER for gacha games. We have seen game after game DIE due to slow income and rigid gacha starting out.

    Yeah I think they need to be smart about how the game is done. Greed can lead to quick exit of players. Either make the purchase cheap, the rates better or the premium currency more plentiful. People playing long term is better for the companies revenue. Relying on a few whales when everyone else has quit isn’t going to be sustainable. I’m already willing to spend $50 a month on this game in the form of whatever monthly pass they may have and random packs.

    4:24; Just to share my thoughts.. Genshin (1.6% / 90 Pity / guaranteed @ 180 if you lost 50/50), WuWa (same rates as Genshin but @ 80 Pity w/ guaranteed weapon banner), RE:1999 (1.5% / 70 Pity / guaranteed @ 140 if you lost 50/50), BD2 (3%, shared between off-rate & rate-up / 100 Pity / guaranteed @ 200 regardless if you win/lose 50/50). Of the games I shared, RE:1999 have the most positive opinion in the community when it comes to the gacha system (w/c I agree). Genshin has the worst weapon banner and flawed system of giving currency rewards but has fair rates compared to FGO and the likes before it. WuWa have the same rates as Genshin but F2P players are able to save enough to get their desired character every other patch along their exclusive weapon or get at least 2 rare character every patch. SoC have 2% (you can't go above 3%, it's just problematic from a business stand point) rate w/c is actually not bad, the problem is that 180 guarantee (worse if it's pity).. it's Genshin but worse since it doesn't guarantee you anything until 180 pulls the very same fiasco (massive quit) BD2 faced w/c forced them to add 100 pity system 🤣( 2% rate is the sweet spot w/ a pity system of 80 (always 50/50), GUARANTEED rate-up @ 160 pulls (win/lose we get it) like BD2 & make weapon banner of our choice guaranteed and not lose 50/50 )

    I just can’t do this type of gacha because you will 100% get hard locked as a free to play because you can’t make your champions stronger unless your lucky enough to pull dupes and you can bet your bottoms that you’ll need maxed out certain champs just to clear a piece of content instead of being able to work out a solution with champs you have, the same as soo many other gacha games these days

    You dont need to pull a character more than once, since you can farm it's shards to max them out. Also lots of tw f2p players have most if not all of the legendary. The gacha isnt bad, and it's pretty f2p friendly

      @@ClintWulf I've been playing consistently on TW and I have many SSR units. Sure I don't have everything but with the events, weekly rewards, pvp rewards, tower grinding and maintenance compensation, you have a more than decent amount of summon that you can keep to snipe the units you want/like.
      The fact that you don't need dupes is a HUGE factor for the f2p friendly since you can simply farm shards on a daily basis and grind it up to max (sure it'll take around 2-3 months but it's a secondary pve focused gacha so who cares ^^).
      Another f2p aspect is the great synergy you can build around factions : sure you can build a team entirely dependant on SSR but you also can center SR units around a SSR that you pulled and enjoy the synergy. All the conditions/buffs and debuffs in the tower are also a huge factor encouraging you towards building different types of units. Sure you need to be a bit aware of your ressources early on but it's always like that and it's kinda fine

      @ClintWulf  Před 26 dny +2

      @@antoinedelporte3924 look, I’m not at all making the argument that the game is P2W…
      What I’m addressing is the need to not scare new player or prospective players away with a system that appears rigid from first impressions of a new player. Which no matter how you slice it..the gacha is rigid. Yes you can farm but that’s something only players that have already committed will take advantage of

    • @antoinedelporte3924
      @antoinedelporte3924 Před 26 dny

      @@ClintWulf I know but it's also important to take into account the impact of CZcamsrs that played the game in TW or CBT to the players that will discover the game later on.
      It's a gacha, that kinda sucks as usual and it's important to address the issues that may occur related to the rate or if they don't deliver the same input of rewards or ressources later on, I'll be the first to back you up at this point.
      But at the same time, I think that it's a really gem of a game to discover for many players and when the CBT comes, I feel like a video presenting the game and everything nice it brings would be much more important :)
      You've done so many great videos earlier, I'd like to see the same kind of videos with the CBT (that makes it much easier to understand and enjoy the game) :)
      I just won't agree with you on the dupe/shard thing in the context of gacha games : in most gachas, dupes are often gatekeeping important quality of life features or even powerceep (which means if you don't get it, your experience is way worse). In SoC, you can unlock 2 stars with ease in a few days (and get usually a decent part of the passive), most units are really good at 3 stars and don't really need to go to 5 stars (as I said healers for instance, but also some of the tanks). You'll still be able to play every unit you pull, and it will get a bit better real fast, then it'll get waaaay better in the long run (Alexei is the best example imo : he was mainly usable as a cc machine when he was low in stars, then I got him to 5 stars and he was suddenly able to be built as a glass canon thanks to his invincibility reset/CD).
      I just hope many people are able to discover and enjoy this game because I've played a ton of gacha over the year, and this is the one that I've enjoyed the most as a pure f2p without even feeling like I was missing something by being f2p (and I've been a spending player in some gachas ^^)
