- We're off to the British Ironwork Centre near Oswestry in today's upload, for the first of their 2024 classic & enthusiast-owned car morning meets.
This was our first visit to the British Ironwork Centre and this particular gathering, and judging by the registration numbers noted during the morning, cars had arrived from both England and Wales - understandable given how close we were to the England/Wales border. As a result, there were a number of cars we hadn't seen before which is always a good thing.
Highlights on the old-car list for us included a fine Triumph Spitfire Mk3, a super-rare Vauxhall Cavalier SR, a number of Rovers, a 1949 Triumph Roadster, a gaggle of air-cooled Citroens, Toyota Tercel, and an incredible-sounding old Police car.
The British Ironwork Centre venue in Shropshire, with its many (often politically-motivated) sculptures, is certainly memorable, and provides a distinctive backdrop to this classic car meet.
Likes, comments and subs welcomed as always thanks.

Thank you for a great day out i hope you both got home safely the weather is awful lately keep safe .
great video, that Triumph Roadster was the pick, followed by Joyce and the Red Baron. some great statues as well.
Another nice video RJ.
Looked like it was a good day out, plenty of variety and as always loved the commentary. Thanks
Nicely rounded off with some old French goodness. Thanks
Excellent, informative video as usual. Many years ago a friend of mine had a BMW 525 and asked me to top up the windscreen washer bottle. Much to my surprise, upon unscrweing the cap there was a mesh filter fitted to keep dirt etc away from the washing system. I had never seen this before, which was another example of German attention to detail. Incidentally, my wife's BMW Mini has no such thing!
Thanks Richard . Not the driest of grounds but better than mud ! Cheers !
Definitely, compared to recent weather this was positively balmy
hi Rick, great video as usual, that safari bus, at a guess the engine is a Volvo by the looks of it, spotted a series 3 land rover in there. !
Hello. I like the old 1949 Triumph there. I wouldn't have guessed that was the make of it. It's really good to see people looking after cars from the 1980s / 90s . In time they will become vintage classic cars. The dark green Triumph Spifire is how I remember my brothers friends one he owned in the early 1970s. Same colour everything. Yes I remember watching Chips on TV. Also Starsky & Hutch. Very good show thanks from Carl in NZ.
Yes there was a good mix of cars at this one, we'll try and get to it again in future.
Good video RJ. I was scheduled to go to the first monthly car event of the year at the Car Barn at Beamish on Thursday evening but for various reasons I couldn't make it. Some of my club members braved the crowds and by all accounts it was absolutely heaving, over subscribed and the traffic jam was horrendous. I will attempt to go next month. The Lexus was and still is a magnificent machine, I drove one a few times in the 90"s and it was actually way ahead of the times with superb build quality. Off now to watch Harley's channel which will keep me busy for another hour or so.
Hope you manage to get to the next local event. The one we went to today was heaving also.
The gorgeous Triumph Roadster and stately Rover 100 P4 outshone everything else. Superb bodywork on them both. Hope your salivation over the P4 results in an addition to OCC HQ.
Great video 😊😊😊😮 thanks
Good show ! WELL PUY TOGETHER 👌 I ask can you please upload UPCOMING SHOWS SO I CAN TAKE MY SONS TO SEE THESE KIND OF CARS ✌ THANKS DAVID
Thanks for watching, best just search google for shows in your area, look on Facebook too, I can't really post details of every upcoming show in the UK, it'd take forever sorry. There are plenty of events coming up every weekend now for the next few months.
my cousin has had a Lexus LS400 from new, over twenty years now. It just keeps running. From the first time I saw it, I was blown away by the 3D gauges.
It was the best thing since the electroluminescent dash lighting of the 60's (esp. 67 Dodge Charger). passengers literally gasp when I turned on the lights at night. lol
Great day out! 👍🏻
Thanks yes always interesting to visit new (to us) meets and places
Yeah , that ‘49 Triumph is really some looker‼️
📻🙂
Agreed, although it's surprising how little space there is between the seat and the steering wheel
Great video, that's our P6.
I remember it well!
👍👍👍👍👍
Very metal! 🤘😁👍
I admire the owners who brave the sloppy conditions to show their cars. Having a muddy lake in the middle of the show area looked pretty daunting! My choice for best of show is either the early Volvo P1800 or the big early black Triumph. High marks for those owners of those highly finished classics bringing them out. High marks for you too Richard for recording this unusual attraction!
Thanks Tom!
You really know your cars my friend!! Great video!!
Thank you 👍
Theres a nice railway🛤️ museum there i think
Yes there's something in the town itself, we went ages ago
Another good video Richard. The Lexus LS400 you featured, lookin at the DVLA’s MOT site, at last August’s test the mileage was 158,267. The car was first registered in January 1995, & as thee said, if the vehicle continues t’be looked after, there’s no real reason why it shouldn’t continue to give good service for many years t’come. 👍
Your car knowledge is astounding. I have many subscriptions to car channels but nobody comes near to you.
Very kind of you to say so, there are many gaps in my knowledge-bank trust me but being around old cars for a while does lead to odd nuggets of intformation sticking in your mind. Thanks for watching!
What gets my Back up is people Black Plates on cars after 73. Really cheapen the earliest cars
I agree that they do look a bit odd
When was that show also are there any more planned this year
Just over a week ago, if you look at the Ironwork centre's Facebook page (and maybe their website?) it'll give the dates, I think it's every two months
