I drove 7 hrs to see them in Dallas then drove back home showered and clocked in, worked my 8 hrs. No one had a clue. To be young again, now I can barely make to general dollar and back lol. As a senior I tank the Lord everyday, that I can get to play my instruments. God bless all my rockers.

Good for you! You have lived!
Keep on rocking 🎶♥️
Come on and rock with me
Awesome memory 😎❤️
Yes we the 60 / 70's generation were the luckiest. We saw 3 different " ages " of music never to bee repeated. It kept me going in Vietnam and will keep me going until it is my turn to pass the the " other " side! Rock on...
Simply but three best guitarist in history the world has ever seen my ( UNDISPUTED)
Keep rocking and rollin...we grew up in some pretty heavy times but the music is what saved my soul!
Mostly the 50' generation....
Welcome home brother...keep on rockin'...I appreciate your service as a gold star dad...
Amazing to see these three guitar legends who were all part of the Yardbirds in the 1960s and all three on the top 5 list of best guitarists in the world. Awesome to see one of my favorite drummers in the world Charlie Watts and Bill Wyman, bassist both from the Rolling Stones there as well. RIP Charlie Watts and Jeff Beck - you gave decades of pleasure to millions of fans around the world.

We grew up in special times my friends in rock.
Indeed❤
This is actually the very end of an approximately 3 hour show. It was called the ARMS benefit (Action for Research into Muscular Sclerosis). They only played four cities (Dallas, San Francisco, LA & NY, NY) in the United States and I was at the first show in Dallas😎. The lineup was: on drums, Charlie Watts, Kenny Jones, Simon Phillips and Ray Cooper. On bass, Bill Wyman and Fernando Saunders. On keyboards, Jan Hammer, Andy Fairweather Lowe, Chris Stainton and James Hooker. Vocals were covered by Joe Cocker, Paul Rodgers, Ronnie Lane, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Andy Fairweather Lowe. The guitarists were Jimmy Page Jeff Beck Eric Clapton, Paul Rodgers and Andy Fairweather Lowe...
It was a show for the ages and one I will definitely never forget!!!
I was at one of the Madison square garden shows. It was epic for me to be there. I will also never forget it.
Hey thanks for all this info. It should have been in the description. I was scratching my head while watching it... I could swear I knew that guy... that one too, but where have I seen them? Thanks for the answers. 🙂
Love Chris Stainton . I believe he does not get the credit he deserves along with the greats ; Al Kooper and Nicky Hopkins . Who is the backup singer in the fine white Jacket and short hair ?
Was at the Garden show. Was it not a benefit for an individual as well?
Saw this with my very own eyes
Heard it with my very own ears
Here in NYC
Saw Led Zeppelin live at Knebworth in '78. Met Jeff Beck at the Stables Aldbourne in the 90's, met Eric Clapton at the Row Barge in Henley whilst he was having a drink with George Harrison. But never met Joe Cocker.... The world was smaller and a better place to be. Thank you for all those who made the music. So many to remember and they are the soundtrack to my life right up to today. Thank you ....
Just for context: This was the period of time where Clapton and Beck were helping Jimmy Page get out of drugs and alcohol. LEGENDS.
i think.... not that night !!!
That’s sad, beautiful and funny
Buenisimos
Page is hammered. Can barely stand. Worst Stairway you'll ever hear.
Clapton the purist, Page the wizard, Beck the fire wielder.
Well said. Bravo!
They could beat Voldemort and Sauron at the same time!
But you don't think beck and page was purist?
Right on!
Your summation is great shorthand for the basic elements that reside in my heart when I leave my immediate interaction with their music.
THIS WILL..... NEVER NEVER NEVER....EVER.....BE DUPLICATED .....ON PLANET EARTH...... EVER AGAIN !!!!!!
JUST.....BARN BURNER..... MUSICIANS.....AND MUSIC. SMOKIN JOB GUYS.....SMOKIN GOOD JOB. Thanks so much for the Post too 👍👍
I'm reading "Light and Shade: Conversations with Jimmy Page" and came to YT to find performances by The Yardbirds and stumbled on this. It is absolutely brilliant. Legends the likes of which will never ever again take the stage.
They will go down in history like Bach & Beethoven ❤❤
Joe cocker like Eric Burdon is one of the all time great blues singers. He is sadly not with us now. He is a true lfegend from Woodstock festival.
Joe Cocker what a professional he was..! R.i.p. mr. JOE
Jimmy was gacked to the nines back then, I'm happy to see he got himself together.
Jimmy was higher than a fkn jumbo jet
And still hot af!❤❤❤❤
R.I.P Jeff Beck! A Guitar Legend!!
I read a review recently that opined that Jeff Beck was the best guitarist of anyone on the planet. Too bad the mix didn’t let him stand out.
RIP Charlie, Joe and Jeff. You blessed us with the best music
I saw this concert at the Cow Palace.....it was a highlight in my life. Thank you for posting this memory!
I miss those decades.. The years go by, our music heroes and geniuses pass away, but we still have the memories of those days
RIP Jeff Beck.
He's in our hearts forever
I only heard JB on that vid. Well, ok I heard Joe too. Great Job.

We miss you JEFF.🎼🎸
All rock royalty on that stage RIP Joe will always remember working with you in ‘68
The legends of my generation. Doesn’t get any better than this.
So much talent in a double headed string guitar and the human strumming it....Bless Jimmy Page and the music he gave to us.... and Eric, Joe & Jeff, lovers of superb music . They'd be 100 X billionaires today with the lack of quality music
Eric and Jimmy, both bluesmen, Jeff is just in his own League
I think Eric is a true Blues guitarist of the highest order whereas Page draws from more folk and international styles on top of his blues base. Beck is unbelievable!!! That tribute stuff he did for the Blue caps in particular Cliff Gallup was as amazing as anything he's done. Three icons no doubt!!!
Pages a blues man? lol. Page is in another league. Writer, producer, player. Beck is a player, Clapton 2 dimensional
The way Beck backs up Clapton in the solo is Beautiful
RIP Jeff Beck. You were a groundbreaking guitarist
and he kept on improving and evolving while other big guitar names just cruised as they got older
Absolutely brilliant moment in a life long love of music, thank God for music, life would be horrible without it.
I saw both shows at the Cow Palace, it was incredible, Page, Beck, Clapton, they each did their own sets then they all played together, I still get goosebumps when I see the video.
Charlie Watts. 🥁♥️ Jeff Beck ♥️ Rocking in heavenly peace 🙏🙏🎸🥁♥️♥️🙏🙏
Oh lord it seems like a lifetime ago. How life has changed is life . I took a photo at the New York show with Ronnie at the mic with Jimmy on one side and Eric, Ron and Jeff the other tremendous shot. A very memorable show. Thanks fellas for always being there and all it takes is a record player. Many Praises !
I was at the NYC MSG show as well
Love them all!! My spirit was immediately lifted up by their music. Can’t really describe how I feel in words. Thank you so much for sharing 👍🏻
Cannot believe this is 40 years ago. I remember it like it was yesterday.
Man...to realize the talent that's on that stage right now. Three original members of the Yardbirds, Joe Cocker, a guitarist from the Stones. That's like having the Rothchilds up there performing together. Page, Beck and Clapton all three in the HALL OF FAME...TWICE!! Each for their contribution to The Yardbirds, bands and solo careers. Wyman in there too with the Stones. 👍 ☝
... dude ... gotta say charlie watts too
@@junkjunk2493 If I saw him I would have. RIP Charlie Watts ❤ Paul Rogers in there too.
More like the disciples.
Drummer from the small faces and singer from bad company too.
Loved em then and still today.. So young and talented.. RIP Jeff Beck and all the greats before.. Never forgotten...
5:22 Pagey drooling over his own guitar playing giving zero fukks mistakes and all. Awesome. Nothing today can compare to a show like this. Legends ALL!
Drooling over his own guitar playing is the greatest wY to put it lmfaooooooo
There's something quite emotional about watching these rock gods playing the most amazing music your possibly ever hear . I'm a drummer and always look straight past the pluckers normally to check how the drummers playing but how can u when these guys are playing honestly makes me wanna do air guitar around the house . Just amazing and something we won't see again ]🙌👏❤️
There is Charlie Watts, and of course the one and only Ray Cooper but who is the other Drummer? Do you know him?
This was one of the GREATEST CONCERTS ever done. They just about had some of the greatest British rockers of all time there.
When and where was this fabulous concert??
say when ? 👀
What a line up, my God , I am so blessed to have had my youth between 1963 and 1978. They say I had a great time, boy I miss those. Great days of fabulous music, love and a bell’ e lot of fun. My first live concert was The Beatles ‘65 in Toronto. You know what they say about the ‘60’s, if you remember the ‘60’s you weren’t there.
This was the ARMS TOUR for Ronnie Lane of The Small Faces. I saw this show, both nights back to back, 40 years ago in '83 at Madison Square Garden. With all these Legends on one Stage, words don't do it justice. This just popped up on my Google Feed in an article about what Eric Clapton thought about Led Zeppelin and Jimmy Page. I literally have tears of joy. I'd give anything to go back to those days. ✌️
My ex boyfriend went to the ARMS’ shows in NY.
@@susanedrington4878 I've gone to countless Concerts since the late 70s, all were good, or great, but there were those that rose to the level of simply unforgettable. Those two nights at The Garden we're that, unforgettable, and absolutely incredible. ✌️
@@susanedrington4878and now you know why. 😊. With best wishes
I was at one of the Garden shows and absolutely agree. I was lucky enough to see a shitload of great shows being in NYC but this was def a collaboration of massive talent on one stage.
@@bobl310Both nights were phenomenal. The very best Rock musicians of all time, playing their heart out.
It was both amazing, seeing Jimmy come out onstage, by himself , with that famous Double Neck Gibson, and we knew what was coming...Stairway...but also a little painful seeing Jimmy struggle a bit with it. But then seeing Clapton and Beck step out from the Wings and play it with Jimmy, as the entire crowd at Madison Square Garden were on our feet, singing the words. Probably one of the very rare, few times, that all three Yardbird Guitarists stood on the Stage alone, together.
I'm SO glad to have grown up with this music, history making music, no "sampling", no computerized nonsense, just the World's very best musicians giving a Master Class in "This is how it's done".
Still have both of my Stubs. It's a true Testament to how good this music was/IS, that we're all still listening to it over 50 year's later.
That'll NEVER happen with the garbage the kids listen to these days
Man did we grow up at the right time or what ?
This music is TIMELESS
And the fact that LED ZEP's music is STILL coming in at the NUMBER ONE Song, on every Rock Station's yearly "Top 1000" list speaks volumes as to how great it actually STILL IS.
I KNOW you enjoyed the hell outta the Show, I loved it SO MUCH, I went down there the second night without a Ticket, and hit up a scalper without ANY regret at all. These guys were the Gods of Rock, I just wish we could still get tickets that are $12 for Front Row again 🤣🤣🤣✌️
The gods of Rock n Roll on one stage! does not happen very often!! Magic!!!!!!
Layla sounds great…who do you get when Clapton, Beck, & Page are pickin’ & grinnin’ together onstage? The Rolling Stone rhythm section of course; Bill & Charlie anchoring this rare live performance…also the peak of the original classic Rock over the top super group presentation featuring TWO gongs!
This sure takes me back. Late '60s and the '70s. Best music and musicians ever. We've lost so many of them and friends we've grown up with. God bless them all. Rest in peace but rock on.
First Time that I am listening to this! I am so enjoying This..I thank whoever Posted this
Amazing..Love the Generation of Music..REALLY THE BEST AGE OF CONCERTS..MUSIC ..ROCK N ROLL..4 EVER❤ GREAT😅
Watching from 2023, he is in his own world playing his heart out! What A sight to have been there!
I just can't believe Rolling Stone did not include Joe Cocker in their list of the 200 greatest singers. What a mistake. They left out Tom Petty, too!
MY HERO'S A D BEST MUSICIANS YOU COULD EVER ASK OR WISH FOR
AT A SINGLE CONCERT- ONCE IN A LIFETIME😊 EVENT🎉 I WOULD HAVE GIVEN ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING TO HAVE BEEN THERE!!!❤
When music was REALLY music! Nothing synthesized, nothing distorted, all true genius! We'll never see anything like this again in our lifetime. So sad to say. We will ALWAYS have our memories! ❤
"OMG" The English Talent, on this Stage, for this concert was Incredible, They were all at their Peak. Just Brilliant, 10yrs after, Bill Wyman, Charlie Watts, Eric, Jeff, Jimmy, Joe,, a whole lot more, just a magic night. Of course, They asked me to play, but I was a bit busy.
Understand, scheduling is difficult....
Purrrrrrrrrrrrect.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Jimis solo was shoddy as fuck.
So am I.
All 3 guitarists were in the Yardbirds at different times. First Eric Clapton was lead guitarist then Jeff Beck. Jimmy Page joined next and for a while there were 2 lead guitarists then Jeff Beck left. Amazing to have such great guitarists to all come out of one group. Eric Clapton left before they had their first hit 'For Your Love'. When the band broke up, Jimmy Page left with the rights to the name and started 'The New Yardbirds', which became Led Zeppelin.
The best musicians all together it is amazing scenery thanks💯💯💯💯👍👏👏👏👏❤❤❤❤
bless Joe and Jeff for all the music and joy they brought us and first class musical history

This concert never gets old, Some of the best vocal's and guitarist in the world..
at least in rock😉. you can be sure that there are many guitarists out there who didn‘t get the shine in the media. and that‘s not always to do with skills. by the way, jimmy page had big moments, but he often failed in live situations being very sloppy. but only few are speaking out about that. there are examples like the live aid concert or others.
+ Jimmy Hendrix...
Jeff Beck The G.O.A.T Greatest Of All Time
Joe was simply brilliant.
I was there... this concert led to the formation of The Firm with Page / Rogers

Brilliant, marvalous, fantastic. Lucky to have seen the lot of them live in London.
Just found this concert, although I was an avid concert goer in the 80s. The energy on that stage must have been atomic. Even if all but Beck and Wyman must have been on something, they all delivered to the queue and in raw RnR energy. Insane footage. Too bad very grainy...but still, a part of my generation. :-)
Special heads-up for Charlie Watts ❤
Paul Rogers, Charlie Watts, Bill Wyman, Kenny Jones....all legends
❤
I love Joe Cocker - his performance with this incredible band is just incredibly music. It does not get any better than this - bringing tears to my eyes!

Muito, muito triste. Adeus, Jeff...
I was there for the arms concert at MSG in NYC. I was seated behind the stage in the 2nd level. I remember Jeff Beck being awesome and Joe Cocker putting on quite the show. Lots of loose medley stuff from many of Ronnie Lane’s pals. There were dozens of other English rock and blues gods that were hanging around and behind the stage. This was a benefit concert after all, one of the first mega benefits in the eighties, that pooled great talent together for a great cause. Fun times backstage at MSG!
My wife and I were there. Beck blew them into the Bay!
As always 😊
Thanks for the video. Greatest talent in display (even if the greatest may have a non optimal day, like here Jimmy Page)

Check out the Yardbirds which also had Beck, Clapton and Page. In the 60's black and white film called Blow Up there is a short snippet of them playing in a club.
Jimmy Page was so high he screwed up most of his segment (Stairway) and kept missing the cue to end Layla into the piano part. Laughable
@ironpluma LOL
Totally wrong. There was lots of competition, ego and jeaulosy- beyond belief.
@@mlose50 I don't get all the rave revues. This whole video was shit right from the begining. Layla was way too fast. I slowed it down and it still sounded like shit.

It's amazing how three iconic guitarists playing together reach a level of cacophony that plows through the central nervous system.
Bill Wyman is total class, Most underrated Rock Bass player ever I reckon!!
No he's not. Keith wrote 99% of the music. Any pro can play it. Only Keith could write it.
Bill Wyman was total class never overplayed the rest of his band gave the rest of the band plenty of room to breathe and play their hearts out and there ain't no other way around it
Really??? You think Bill Wyman is the most underrated bass player ever? Wow! Maybe soft-spoken and free of most of the shenanigans of the times, but never underrated. He stands among the greatest in rock and roll. Why do you think he's on that stage? Every player up there recognizes that. Certainly Mick and Keith would agree.

Didn't I see Charlie Watts back there on drums ...
@@juniorjohnson5961 No that is definitely not Charlie Watts on the drums!!! I don't know who it is but I do know that it is definitely not the late Charlie Watts. He has never been seen playing a drum kit of that size. He is one of the most legendary drummers of all time, but he always played a much smaller drum kit. This would be something like The late Great John Bonham would have played. Charlie Watts was a Great drummer and he played for one of the most iconic bands in Rock and Roll History, The Rolling Stones. My favorite drummer of all time is the One and only, the late Great John Bonham. Led Zeppelin is my favorite Rock Band. Charlie Watts also never had long hair!!! Even in his early days. He always looked clean cut. His look was very different from that of his band mates and other Rock bands at the time. He never missed a beat, he was tight and kept the band on track, which is totally up to the drummer, he was quite and he just smiled and was not into the drug's and everything else that many Rock bands were known for, especially the Rolling Stones!!! He was a great drummer, a family man and he loved performing. He will remain an icon in the world of music 🎶
