Just popped in to say thank you for the carb break down video. Tore my mowers carb apart. Cleaned the main and low speed jets. Put it back together and no go. Didnt know about the piece that comes out under the main, that was the issue. Took it back apart, cleaned that. Started right away. Subbed and 👍🍻

I have a mower with this engine I've had zero issues. Cable choke works great and every time I've needed it over the years it has never let me down. However my very old CraftsmanII mower model# 917.37230 thinks it's brand new, fresh out of the box and continues to start on the first pull every time, every year. It's the first mower I ever fixed cleaned out the carburetor and I haven't needed to do it again just like the MTD mower. Take care of your machine and it'll take care of you no need to feel sorry for the 139cc MTD mower or the Tecumseh owners, maintenance is key and knowing how to store your machines just as important. Yes, I have Honda mowers and Husqvarna that have been great I have a 1950 mower that's great. I love all my mowers and take care of them, I enjoy it.

That's fantastic and thank you for reminding me why I will never, even attempt to clean my carburetor on anything I own. Plus when the small engine repair dude tells me he he has to charge an hour and a half for labor I'm going to tell him why, Jeff did it in 28 minutes! I just watched it! Thank you sir for the awesome video.

Thank you for this video. My father in law and I had been struggling for a week to get our tiller started. We followed this video and as we put it back together we said we were going to burn the thing if it didn't start. When we pulled the cord and it fired, the joy was ecstatic. Thank you!

Thank you for the great instructions. I did my lawn mover this morning and it now starts on the first pull. This was the model with auto choke so the choke and gas linkages were slightly different and a bit more cumbersome to get off but all in all worked the same

Jeff what and excellent video, thank you a million times! I have an MTD engine same as in your video I replaced the carburetor and still it would start and stall out or run on full choke! Worked on it today same thing. Watched your video and found out I was putting the filter housing gasket behind the carb on the engine side...and that was my problem! Thanks again!!!!

Good work Jeff: I have customers that every year bring their mowers, tillers, etc. to me for similar issues. I keep telling them to use non ethanol fuel but they won't pay the extra cost of the gas. One lady only idles her riding mower and won't run up the rpm's. Fouls the plug and she can't understand the splash oiling system and that she is doing more harm to idle the engine while trying to cut grass. Gets frustrating. Thanks for the video's.

Carbs get dirty because of fuel issues. Don't be dismissing a complete line of engines because of a fuel problem. My MTD lawnmower with a similar engine has run perfectly for 7 years now. I make sure to drain the gas in the fall and just do regular maintenance.

I also own one, have had it for well over 10 yrs only had to do one carb cleaning on it and that was almost 4 yrs ago now.Always starts 2 pulls.I even forgot to drain the gas from last season and it still fired up.All in all my experience with them has been very pleasant.Wish i could find another or maybe i just got lucky with a good one,not sure, lol.I just change the oil at the beginning of the season.Still doesn't burn oil and i use it for my lawn service so it sees a lot of use.I changed the oil just this week and when i checked it it was still at the full mark but my other lawnmower(briggs and stratton) was below the full mark.I was surprised when this motor actually outlasted its wheels which i just finished replacing.Until recently i had no idea what engine it was til i found the box and found out it was a powermore. To me kinda looked like a mix of a honda.Well this has been my experience with it,maybe i got a lucky one out of the bunch not sure but ill continue to maintain it for as long as it lasts! As always a great video Jeff, very informative!☺

It's a Kohler modeled after a Honda GCV engine. They're crap because of the linkage. For $16 just buy a new carburetor on Amazon, and always run the mower until it stalls at the end of the season, or use stabilizer fuel. Kohler's are the worst to work on and most finicky due to the tiny jets and ports.

I got a question for ya. I use my tiller once a year. Should I only fill the gas 1/4 full and after I'm done tilling just run it until its outta gas? Carb clogs with stale gas so just run it till its outta gas would be an easy solution right? Thanks man!

it is kind of funny how you make it sound like they are shitty engines yet it starts first pull once you clean the carb. all carbed engines are prone to having the same issue if you leave gas with ethanol in the tank all winter or summer. at least it is not as bad as those newer briggs and stratton plastic carbs that once they clog they either need to be replaced or have the main jet drilled out. never really had much issue cleaning a honda style carb like the one on the machine in the video
