Yall should've watched the actual music video. Strange, alien like video. Cute mix race girls dressed like outer space girls, too. lol
Echo and the Bunnymen were for sure alternative rock. They were a very good '80s, and early'90s new wave/post-punk, gothic rock, dance-punk , shoegaze/psychedelic rock from the UK. The shoegazy (fuzzy pedal, amps effects, ethereal sounding) guitars is what yall are hearing. They play their songs at underground night clubs.
See more of Echo and The Bunnymen videos/songs "Heads Will Roll", "The Cutter", "Nothing Lasts Forever", ", "Show of Strength", "Bringing on the Dancing Horses", etc
The talk singing style is common in post-punk, new wave. Its' similar to another new wave/post-punk band U2 (Bono), David Bowie, The Doors (Morrison....Echo and the Bunnymen were influenced by them), Psychedelic Furs (new wave/post-punk) , Simple Minds (new wave), Talking Heads (new wave, post-punk), The Cars (new wave, post-punk), and others. Good ears both of yall!
They were huge on college /underground/alternative radio stations. And late night videos on MTV alternative music TV shows like 120 Minutes, Alternative Nation and Cutting Edge during the '80s and early '90s.
They were inspired by Velvet Underground (proto-punk group), Roxy Music, David Bowie, The Doors and others.
Similar groups to them are Psychedelic Furs, Killing Joke, Sioxsee and the Banshees, The Smiths, The Cure, Sisters of Mercy, Bauhaus, Clan of Xymox, Joy Division, The Cult (early stuff), The Church, The Chameleons, The The, Coldplay, Interpol, Arcade Fire, The Killers, Flaming Lips, Modern English, early U2 , and others.

Finally Echo & The Bunnymen. They sadly don't get enough recognition in the US. Thanks for reacting to them. 🐇 ❤️
They started with a psychedelic post-punk sound and went a little new wave.
The lead singer's own lips are pretty sweet. He was quite the looker back in the day.

Eighteen years ago when I was a young dumb kid I met a woman who I thought to be the love of my life. I got my fair share of sugar kisses from her, but she only left me laughing at how I broke and melted into a lake; all while she'd flown to the shores of another. December 2005, my friends took me to a club and heard this playing. My life changed that night for the better, thanks Echo and the Bunnymen.

Woo lord after listening to Asia’s reaction to this song
I’m so glad I was in my 20’s in the 80s
When young women were raised by women who went through the women’s rights movement and the sexual revolution
Because the women I knew back in the day were sexually confident and just as likely to hit on a guy in a club as any man would hit on a women
And as far as the song goes
He’s talking about Sugar Kisses something sensual
Unlike today’s music talking about sex with women in the most vulgar way calling the hoes and B’s and throwing them away like garbage after they’re finished "Beating it up"
I guess Asia applying today’s lyrics to a song made in the 80’s
Now ask yourself what sounds better Sugar Kisses or I Slapped and tapped that @. $$ and then threw the hoe in the trash???
    Cmon now!!!

    • @gsly6081

      I agree

    • @sarablack2547
      @sarablack2547 Před 2 lety

Back in the 80's and before in music love and sex were separated and there were different types of love sung about like for a friend or parent or Ben.
Now when they sing about love they mean sex cause to them it's the same thing and their all a hoe in the bed or expected to be a hoe or think that's what the guy wants.it used to be if you broke up you sung about heartbreak and being stronger next time or telling him to walk out that door and leave his key(I will survive)they didn't sing about punching first before he walked out that door. now the woman artists if it's a brake up song sing about if he cheats saying I'll make friends with the police captain so when I set fire to your house he won't suspect me.they get aggressive like that's equal rights or how to show your strong.
