Opinels are mythical knives, elegant in their simplicity. They did a thing that worked a long time ago, and have never really needed to change the recipe since then ! Being french, I grew up seeing uncles and grandparents using them for everything around the house, especially for food preparation or eating their meals.
Short and sweet review. I am not a huge fan as birth of my Opponent knives came with badly finished edges. But that can easily be fixed by sharpening. They make a great budget knife. For the Uk we have to remove the locking ring for carrying in public. I use mine as a gardening knife. There is a DIY version with a 1/4" bit holder in the handle - I reviewed it a few months back.
@@Dracomies fine as a budget knife that you can abuse. Not too much to replace if lost. The spine of the blade can be used with a ferro rod to generate sparks.
Maybe give opinel garden knife a try. It has a superior , more robust blade profile but a really weird handle shape. Really comfortable to use if you have small hands tho . They only have it in no8 size but its smaller than regular no8 because of the handle. Best opionel imo

They really are wondrous! I love how lightweight and slicey they are! :D
The Opinel #8 is one of my all time favorite knives. I never thought such an old-timey pocket knife would give me the feels 😂
I definitely am enjoying the 6. The 8 is fantastic too! So lightweight! And it works great! :D
@@Dracomies I just purchased an Antonni Great Bear. It's an Italian version of the Opinel.
We will see how they compare.

That makes sense! Yeah if you remove the collar I think it wouldn't be nearly as good, it would totally slip out I think. That makes sense!
