I think that's a great idea to draw the same thing to compare other brands.

I agree with you that they have a 3D effect that would be great for abstracts or for canvas kind of painting with more "painterly" effects but not detailed or smaller sized pieces really. Wow... how I struggled hard with them 😭! To me, their quality was lower than Paul Rubens where the latter were soft n smooth but you could still control and layer well enough. These ones turned out super inconsistent depending on what color was chosen. Some were soft and consistent, but some were SO waxy that they would just remove the layer underneath if you go over with them or make things patchy beyond repair. Trust me, I even tried melting them a bit for making smoother but nope. You cannot do finger blends with them, they're too messy and lose the grip on the paper making them bunch up into themselves, UNLESS its only minimal and in one direction. The sticks break easily and the box smells a bit when you open them. I got frustrated going back and forth on blends and patch cover-ups using them. You layer more than 3 and that's where you'll enter the 'redo infinity' loop. Sigh. I thought long and hard, and finally decided to return them (even though I LOVED their vivid color range: very balanced between brights, pastels and darks especially) and instead get a bigger box of Mungyo for all round consistency and better control, and because I do smaller pieces. I really want to enjoy my art and sadly they frustrated my process. I know the channel Fungreem uses them in very fun artworks, which I enjoy. But that's it, only watching, not using, lol. Great review, looking forward to more artworks with these.

Agreed. They aren't my favorite, but I do like them for thicker, more painterly paintings.

def perfect for abstract paintings with a lot of movement and them, and the build up of the pastels would add a lot of neat texture to an abstract piece

Than you for the review. Do you prefer Paul Rubens or Arrtx oil pastel and for what reason.

Neither one is my favorite, but I think I like the Paul Rubens better for its consistent texture.

If I could only pick one, I would go with the Caran d'Ache Neopastels. They are the best overall in my opinion. Creamy, but not too much. not sticky, not too hard like the Crayola, and they don't crumble much. They are VERY nice to use.

@@Sandrinesgallery thanks for answering but caran d'ache is expensive for me i want to buy pastel paper too, so i think im gonna buy crayola, or if you suggest maybe paul rubens or gallery 48..? also what paper should i use?

@@asude3140 I have tried both these Arrtx and the Paul Reuben’s oil pastels and imho the Paul Reuben’s are “sweaty “ and messy and not consistent whereas the Arrtx are creamy more opaque and not messy, I love the Arrtx ones !

Sandstone, why did you wave towards the “salmon or peachy” colours and call them flesh and the brown ones and called them earth? Don’t some people have brown skin tones ?
