The Arrtx pencils are wax based, hence why they are softer. Wax-based pencils are fantastic to lay and blend colors. The Faber Castell are oil-based, that's why they're harder and make detail work a breeze.

@@larissapaula3157 All pencils have wax and oil in their composition, only the proportions vary. The softer the pencils the more wax there is in their composition, which is the case of Prismacolors.

Your portrait turned out wonderful! I am a huge fan of yous work!
I am a CP artist and work with all the professional brands (Polychromos, Caran d’Ache Luminance & Pablos, Derwent Lightfast). They have different properties and complete one another really well. Since I sometimes sell original drawings, it is very important to me that the colours are lightfast. Also, I want to be able to replace only the colours I use the most and buy the pencils individually.
These Arttx pencils look really good and have some unique, beautiful colours! I would use them for sketchbook work or if I am sure I won’t sell the original drawing. The main negative point that I see is that usually these cheaper pencils aren’t sold open stock, so if we need to replace only a few colours, we must buy the whole set again.

I checked their page and they say 'high lightfastness' but in general pink and some light purple pigments are fugitive, hence there are not many in Polychromos

that bird is beautiful! these seem a little closer to caran d'ache luminance, so you might like those (though they are VERY expensive 😬)

Ohhh, I love the Arrtx pencils! They are my second favorite regular colored pencils after Prismacolor. I have the 126 set.

What would be the huge difference between the Arrtx vs other colored pencils?

    • @tarabooartarmy3654
      @tarabooartarmy3654 Před 2 měsíci +2

@@tyleradelman9123 well, they don’t layer or blend QUITE as well as Prismacolor, and their pigmentation doesn’t seem to be quite as strong, but it’s very close. They’re a bit harder than Prismacolor, but not as hard as something like Luminance or Polychromos. They aren’t buttery soft like Prismacolor, but that means they don’t need to be sharpened as often and don’t break as easily. These make excellent practice pencils for sketchbook work or coloring books, but I still use Prismacolor, Polychromos or Luminance if I’m doing something I want to display. Not sure how lightfast the Arrtx are because I haven’t really looked into it.

Lovely drawings! I love coloured pencils, and found your channel back in the day when a YT search showed me what’s still my fave video of yours, one where you drew two beautiful coloured pencil landscapes with a 36 set of Polychromos. I have the 126 set of Arrtx, and find them lovely and soft. Only downside of them is that you can’t currently buy individual replacement pencils if you wear down a favourite colour like you can with Polychromos. The Polychromos also have professional lightfast ratings, so better for any work that’s going on the wall. I love the Arrtx for sketchbook work

I was considering purchasing these coloured pencils last year but I never went through with the order. They look like they work beautifully for the cost and I absolutely love the packaging

Too bad they're not lightfast. It's heartbreaking to look through your work twenty years later to find them faded, sometimes to nothing. Take it from someone older, lightfast matters, even for stuff you don't sell because you will likely be upset down the line. I love your work as usual!

I ordered this 126 set and now that I have had them only a few days, I'm disappointed in them. They aren't soft at all. They don't blend as good as other pencils.
I will say they hold a sharp point better than almost every pencil I've tried, but I bought them mainly for thinking they're soft and pigmented, but even in the swatching stage my hand started hurting from the pressure I had to use for it.
In Johana Basford's books, they barely lay any pigment.
Maybe the batch I got was hard ones? I don't know, but I'm seriously disappointed in this set.

Oh no sorry to hear this that sucks! I didn't have any issues with mine, maybe they changed the way they make them? Or maybe you got a bad batch? It might be worth reaching out to them, they might give you a refund.

In your naivety, you are taken in by these suppliers wanting to promote their products. They are using you. Of course you will say that you aren't influenced, because their products are OK, nevertheless you are promoting them. Choose to go along with them if you want, but I won't be watching, I've unsubscribed, I want to watch honest makers.

Sorry you feel this way but I’m allowed to test out art products on an art channel and give my honest opinion on them. I’ve been doing CZcams for 7 years and in that time I have done 2 art product review videos as I have been genuinely interested in trying them out. Over the years I have turned down 100’s of collaborations as I didn’t think it would be something my audience would be interested in. But trying out some budget friendly pencils which I’ve heard a lot of good things about is something which I hoped a large proportion of my audience would like, so I have every right to do so. 😊

@@artwithem6635 Yea, I don't think you could only be honest if you pay for something, I think they were just jealous. There's nothing bad about promoting something you like! 🤗
