Skyline is never outdated, especially this one. Google anything with skyline including the newest racing game custom skins, even gta online has this car ❤ not outdated irl
Outdated??? C'mon skylines are timeless!
Sorry! I’m not a car guy as stated! 😅
It's all good, I'm a bit biased
Innit
Yeah he says he doenst know much about cars then goes on to crap on one of the greatest car designs ever; like whom the hell cares if it looks old if it looks better than any car my country or your country produces today
But he gets a pass on saying it’s not as clean as the others. Which is curious nonetheless
All of these newer speed champions sets have so many cool and unique building techniques! Even if you’re not into cars these have to be some of the most interesting sets to build
For sure! I’ve been kicking myself for not picking any earlier
@@TiagoCatarino May I recommend you the Lamborghini Countach? It's packed full of cool techniques, and was my favorite one to assemble, so far. And the end result is visually really good, too, in my opinion.
@@TiagoCatarino The Koenigsegg Jesko is also a very cool build, that uses some nice recoloured pieces and it hides a cool Easter-Egg inside.
@@TiagoCatarino You should really try to get a few of the ones still available at the moment, Speed Champions has got to be the most creative and well designed LEGO theme right now. I just discovered the theme myself earlier this year and went out of my way to try to get all 8-wide cars I could. I also value building experience above all and my personal highlights would be the Lamborghini Countach, the Ford Bronco R (only available at LEGO until tomorrow), and the Aston Martin Valkyrie even though I'm not a fan of it's looks.
@@TiagoCatarino Get the McLaren Senna, the building techniques are wild!
The amount of detail! The license plates are accurate, so are the neon layouts under the car and the pink details on the nitrous, respect to the legend, Paul Walker.
Now some backstory; the skyline they used in the movie was identical to the one Paul Walker had, only without the iconic blue decals. Paul was himself a car enthusiast and was an amazing racer, in legal races of course. He was also an amazing person off camera as so much trouble was going on between Vin Diesel and the rock and other actors, he was the one who kept the family together, he even took part in so many charity cases, even the day he unfortunately died, 15 minutes before the terrible crash he was just picked up by his buddy from a charity he just part took in. No words for Paul, except that may he rest in peace.
It’s really unfortunate he was into dating kids. It was set up by the girls parents but to me that just makes it worse
@@carson4862 Ok, I haven't heard about this before, could you please tell me what happened?
@@Bradley_Potter so apparently his girlfriend at the time of his death was no older than 25 and he was 40 I believe. Apparently they met and started dating when she was 15 and her family helped set it up, so he would have been in his early 30’s when they met. If you just look up some keywords there’s plenty of information about it
@@carson4862 Thanks for the info, that sounds kinda messed up.
@@Bradley_Potter it is messed up, and it’s hard for me to really fully enjoy the F&F movies now without thinking about that. I know he was a fantastic guy and was really kind hearted towards everyone, but it just doesn’t sit right with me
This is one of the best themes Lego has ever worked on. My top 5 for sure.
That's it, you are hooked my friend, welcome to the brilliant world of 8 stud wide Speed Champions cars! :) You definitely should build them all, each is a great building experience with neat techniques in a compact package ;)
I think I am! 🤤
@@TiagoCatarino : Have you bought any additional Speed Champions by now? There are already more than 20 8-studs wide cars by now, I think.
Now, I’m wondering if they would release Mr. Bean’s Austin Morris Mini Cooper. I would buy that for sure! 😄😁
As cool as the DB5 is, this might be my favourite out of the current three. It just oozes Y2K charisma. Hoping Han's RX-7 is next.
Cheers, Tiago, always love watching your reviews.
Appreciate it!
Han's RX-7 would be amazing indeed, tbh the entire Fast & Furious line would be really cool (like the Eclipse, Supra, S2000 or the EVO)
I need the S2K next that pink color way would go hard along with a suki minifig
@@victorsvault1569 I'd get it for my gf, i hope they make it
Why not the Ford Falcon XB GT V8 Interceptor from Mad Max?
I've never been interested in cars and pretty much just ignored the Speed Champions theme until they made the James Bond Aston Martin. I was very impressed by the build, the techniques and overall final look of the model. I got the Lamborguhni Countach for Christmas and it instantly become one of my favourite sets ever, I would highly recommend it to anyone.
Aston Martin also became my first Speed Champions set. I might pick up the vintage Ferrari and I'm not seriously considering Lamborghini, but that's it.
The builds on the 8 wide speed champion cars are always great. I don’t care about cars at all, but I buy all of these because they are so fun to build.
I have hopped on the Speed Champions bandwagon and I love them. So many lego sets have really interesting and unexpected building techniques, the ONLY downside for me is the stickers. Some models barely have any, while others might have a bit more. Overall a really good theme if you are into cars that arent that expensive
I’ve been totally sleeping on the theme. That has to change!
To add to it, I definitely wouldn't mind you doing more reviews on the Speed Champions sets, the sets aren't that expensive yet are interesting to talk about and fun to build and look at
@@TiagoCatarino If you are looking to get into some more speed champions, I would recommend the Lamborghini Countach as a start because in my opinion (from what I've built so far) it has some of the most interesting building techniques i have ever seen. There are also other sets that I have also enjoyed but that one surprised me the most
Can't wait to see some more speed champions on the channel. They all have an amazing build experience. Keep it up Tiago.
The only thing I would change is the hood because on the original there's the stickers that go down the front of the hood
Happy New Year , Tiago , and thanks for the videos . Looking forward to more great reveals and reviews next year !!
Excellent review as always. Me and my son are avid collectors of the speed championships series. So excited for the release of this set. Thank you for bringing this video to your excellent channel. Wishing you and the rest of your family a very Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year.
Super impressed with everything about this set and that printed GTR piece 😍😍
Can’t wait to build this! Brings back so many Memories watching 2 Fast 2 Furious.
Anybody remember that short film that showcases what Brain did between the films and bought this car?
Just looking so many building directions going on. Love that Florida License plate as a Florida man.
I'm also not a "car guy", but I love these sets. I got one for my city few years ago and since then I get one every year. They're so fun to build, and affordable sets. As I don't care about the car itself, I go by colour. The Bond one is also a great build, and still for sale.
my problem with the skyline now i saw a proper review of it is it has too many studs protruding
if you look at the martin and the charger, they have almost everything curved in or flat
Awesome video! I'll be getting this one plus the Torreto car soon. I HATE placing the stickers, though. Mostly because I rarely get them just right. Just a pain in the ass lol I hope they make all printed in the future
My dad is a big car guy, and I've been picking up Speed Champions sets for him every year for Christmas for a long time, it's a great theme!
Speed champions part usage and techniques keep on getting better
Yes! The recent slew of Speed Champion cars, like the Lamborghini Countach, drew me into this series. I'm not a car person either but I agree, these are really fun and creative builds, despite the thousands of stickers! haha!
8 wide ones are really fun. I hope the movie ones expands. Delorean Time Machine would be great!
I’m very excited for this set since this is like my favorite car
Same 🙂
@@cjp1599 It's because he is a man of culture, which clearly you aren't
@@cjp1599 ngl u got a point, but it think it looks clean
@@cjp1599 Why are you compairing a gt40 and a Lancia to a Skyline tho ? Those are 3 completely different car classes... It's like compairing a Subaru WRX to a 2020 Honda Civic type R to a Huracan Evo...
Well well, surprised to hear that this was your first experience with 8 stud Speed champions. Fully agree with you, they are full of interesting techniques for a small price: that's how I got sold on this theme.
I bought some of the older speed champion sets for christmas, and oh my god, the designers on these are doing amazing stuff
The speed champions series have been really great over the last couple years and you can see the enthusiasim from the deigners
I've had this car for a short time and I think it's super well built! It is also beautiful and timeless!!! I adore him!!!❤❤❤
If you really like the build techniques, you should try the new speed champions Aston Martin, I was surprised how complex and creative the building was for such a small set
Can't wait to build this one. For me this is one of the best looking cars in SC lineup, so looks are a matter of preference for sure. :)
just picked up 2 this morning they restocked once again on the lego website hopefully they come in asap
This set is beautiful, and it’s already almost 50$ resale values since it’s already out of stock in the lego website, pretty wild.
I swear these new Speed Champions are packed with building techniques. I own the Lotus Evija and I was absolutely shocked how many building techniques were used. This is just another generic Speed Champions that looks pretty nice. Nice review by the way!
And I'd rather avoid all those cool building techniques that involve 1x1 elements :) I prefer a straightforward build by slapping 1x4 bricks on each other, haha.
I am soooooo excited for this set, also, the skyline gtr is one of my favorite car
Having built this myself last night, I now notice you have both stickers of the ‘dash’ in front of the NOS bottles upside down.
The 3 gauges have a ‘3d’ edge to them: they should point towards the driver, not away from. The tiny sticker above, if you zoom in on the instructions (pdf) you will see the bigger gauge of the two is on the bottom. Or even better, just look at the back of the box as is has a large picture of the interior right there.
I was waiting for this
Speed Champions are always great for their building techniques! As for this set, while I do like it the stickers are a big turn off. So many, and again Lego didn't manage to match the grey. I honestly don't get why they don't use clear backed stickers more often, those at least solve one problem.
While I don’t know if this is why I personally always get finger prints on mine lending them to look horrible.
Still I see what your saying
I love it! I would love to have this one!
That intro was hilarious!! 🤣🤣
Somebody gets it! THANK YOU!!
Been excited to get this since I first heard about it
Hey Tiago, can you make a video about the LEGO design process?
Most speed champions are brilliantly designed
It looks so good regardless of the studs exposed
As a car guy and fan of the 2nd movie (and the Skyline) I have to buy it!
I'd love to see the S30Z from Wangan Midnight though :D
Good video, Tiago. I actually prefer the six-stud scale as it is more in proportion with minifigs. I was a bit disappointed with the James Bond car, for example, as it looked too big to fit with my existing six-stud Moc vehicles in my city.
I knew one day tiago will discover how amazing building experience speed champions have!
I am not into cars at all but i collect speed champions just because they all use unique building techniques and help me learn as someone who wants to become a lego designer.
My highlight of this set is the new blue color for the 2x6 tile which I have been waiting for for ages
I'm surprised to see the exposed studs compared to how smooth so many other speed champions sets have been
I was gonna say the same thing, why couldn't they smooth it out? Almost feels missing
@@grimmkiller2161 the front hood is too low down, however there is a new piece in the match wave that can have a tile on top
This is epic! I wonder what other movie cars will be converted into Lego
So glad you’re finally reviewing Speed Champions! I was never a car guy either but I loved the builds so much it eventually lead me to learning more about cars.
Speed Champions is the lowest barrier of entry into an advanced technical build style Lego offers.
I hope you will review some of the older releases as I’d love to get your thoughts on them all.
Same here. Not a car guy, but the ingenuity in building techniques at such a low price point have made this series a must for me. I hope Tiago gets into more of them. That Le Mans Ferrari was just so good!
yeah the slight angle of the front ( front axle is 1 plate lower than rear) bothers the heck out of me and i'm trying to fix it by leveling it. Might have to modify the rear bumper.
I have received the McLaren Elva and the Koenigsegg Jesko as birthday presents. I personally don't really buy Legos, so these are the only ones I have. they were awesome to build, with some really creative solutions! I decided not to put stickers on them and these are sets that work without them, I'd even say that the Jesko looks better without stickers!
Great review man! Actually very detailed. Threw me off with the outdated comment tho hahaha! Very high quality review though and no hate!
i hope they continue this "movie themed" sub series, they could do so much with the speed champions techniques when it comes to movie cars.
You talked about the dual moulded wheels like you never seen them before. They've been around for some time now.
It looks great and I love that it's slightly slanted but man if they could've figured out a way to smooth those studs on the hood it would've been perfect. I feel like the shape of the car would've also required maybe a 2x2 tile closer to the windshield on both sides of the striped hood? I'm sure they tried it and that it looked worse, but man if there was at least some way to smooth that out a bit. It also looks a bit too level because there's no angle on it.
I am definitely getting this set day 1
Welcome to the world of Speed Champions. A theme that's gotten progressively better/detailed in the last handful of years given the 8 wide builds. Adding movie cars as a subtheme is a brilliant move, and can't wait to see what other famous vehicles make the roster in years to come. So far only have the 007 Aston Martin, but the Dom's charger, and Skyline GTR are definitely on the list for next year. Think this one in particular turned out great, and love the exclusive printing on some of the pieces as well as the inclusion of the late Paul Walker in the set.
looking forward to snot mocs of this set
Hey if you liked it, you should try the Lamborghini Countach from this serie as soon as you can ! The building technics are mindblowing
Please make a review video about the Lego Ideas Saturn V
the wheel with the tire and rim were also in the t-rex breakout on the ford explorers
I could recommend Aston Martin DB5 on the grounds of building experience.
I just recently got into speed champions but I don't really like the look of this car but that's not because of the designers, I just don't like the car in general. I will say the studs on the hood do bother me though. Great review!
Just got the set today im so impressed! I believe your gauge sticker is upside down tho😅
I want my Lego Clone Troopers to use this car, The 501st would fit nicely XD
I wish they made a Lego Evo. Thanks for sharing
As a car guy i can confirm i have to buy this as soon as i can❤️🔥
I remember people saying they hoped the neon light stips underneath the car would light up.
I was dreaming of having Nissan R34 in Lego since quite some time, but I'm not entirely in awe when looking at this model. I think it is missing a few curves. Nevertheless I think I will get my hands on it and maybe try to improve it. Not necessarily a great fan of the F&F series, I'd rather have R34 in stock version ;) love the rims though. Just FYI - you've put the sticker for 3 gauges in the other way! Great video as always :) If you enjoyed building techniques on this, check out the Lamborghini Countach, it's insane how they achieved the curves of that model!
Can you review the lego heart ornament set?
im a skyline fanboy so this is the greatest thing to me
It’s pretty cool, but I can’t get over the look of the exposed studs on the hood. I’ve seen many people correct this with snot techniques on IG, but I feel this part of the car was definitely an afterthought.
I've been waiting for lego to release the skyline!!! But its sold out everywhere... 😭 I need it...
After Toretto's Dodge charger I absolutely can't miss the skyline, but here in Europe it isn't even appeared in stores yet. Not even on Amazon. I really hope it will be available soon...
Nice!
I’m on my break at the LEGO store here on launch day and I will say the skyline was the very first set to sell completely and we’ve only been open for an hour total so far. None of them were able to be reserved they just got bum rushed first thing
I need to buy this set like all 8 stud Speed Champions :-D
Now i really hope for the red Mitsubishi Evo and/or Han orange Mazda from Tokyo Drift... and maybe a Corolla AE86 (we all know why)
I wanna find it!
i just don’t like the buttons on the hood wish it was smooth like the moc ones from aliexpress I might modify it to make it smooth
Not sure why Lego uses printed parts and stickers in one set. What the decision making process behind what gets printed and what is made as a sticker?
I live my life one brick at a time
I read nissan skyline and instantly thought of initial d, not fast & furious lol
Looks really nice. Cannot wait for the Pagani!!! 😆
I love speed champions
Would be great if they made old movie/tv serie cars like kitt, general lee, or more fast furious cars
Great build. I could not agree more on the over usage of stickers for a small build. In truth, I don’t like stickers at all.
I remember now that you spoke highly of the new road systeam pointing out that the thinner roads were fine as most of lego cars were 6 stud wide. How these 8 studs cars behave on those roads?
I wish it had openable hood and doors. I guess is due to the small scale. Its 7/10 build for me
I found one at Walmart, I find it weird that people say that it is sold out at other places
I have this set
How does the skyline look without the blue bricks and accents?
Wait how did you buy this ?? I can’t find it
“Outdated” are you serious, that car is legendary. You didn’t call the 1970 charger outdated. Damn that hurts
How did he get this eight days ago? I live in the states and bought it on release day and it came yesterday!
Another Speed Champions set, another day 1 buy for me. Probably the most consistently solid theme of, maybe, all time.
I'd like to see a Lego racing game released like Minecraft where you can make cars and maps out of Lego.
