- Metal Sonic becomes a playable character in Trial mode, as a reward for collecting all of the Emblems. He plays identically to Sonic, although his standing animation seems to be glitched. Oddly enough, he also cannot breath underwater.

I almost forgot how amazing this game was. Perfect soundtrack, beautiful levels with great gameplay, mechanics, and controls. All the quests and areas to explore in the overworld and the Chao garden introduced, this was a masterpiece

Recently bought this game on steam just so I can do what the kid me couldn't. As a kid I don't think I ever 100% any of the games I played. Its so nostalgic playing again and this time knowing what I am doing lol.

His jet on his back is still on but his legs are powered only to the point of a certain increased speed in which he runs for extra speed.
Is he? I've played as them both and Metal Sonic didn't feel that heavy to me.
The thing I find weird about this is that he's not even running like metal sonic. Metal sonic was designed to use a jet engine with a powerful propulsion system. He would actually be need to be running first, then using his jet engine to gain further speed. With this system he was able to exceed speeds faster then sonic could run, who can easily run at supersonic speeds.

IDK I kinda like this version. Maybe if they actually showed his jet engine's exhaust flames instead of him just levitating it would be better.
@@bluecheese7447 The problem is that he goes from using jet engine then to running on his feet. Anyone would know it's the other way around as when he's using the jet engine he will be faster.

For Sonic Adventure 2 you unlock Green Hill Zone but for Sonic Heroes unlocking all the emblems gets you nothing.

People, don´t see it as "Sonic with a Metal Sonic skin", see it as if it was the actual character, because IT IS, actually...i like to think that he moves like Sonic, because Eggman designed him to be like Sonic, i like to think that he´s passing through all those stages looking for Sonic, and that he won´t stop until he finds him.

Sonic team: puts in Metal Sonic with his own animations and stuff into SA2: Battle's multiplayer.
Also Sonic Team: dont just update those models and their animations for the DX version of SA1 which came out after that.

It looks like a mod because this game was still extremely rushed and they were lazy with changing the model and they rather just imported the one from SA2B and gave him no other unique animations.

Directors Cut is a really weird thing to use in a game title. DX often means Deluxe in Japan... So is it Sonic Adventure Deluxe: Directors Cut or is the DX just Directors Cut abbreviated? >_

I seriously can't wait to play as him, I love this model of metal sonic and his Neo model. The only emblems I need are the chao races, it so time consuming and its annoying, ive been stuck on the chao races for almost 2 weeks. Anyway he looks badass and admittedly a little cute.
@Laserdisc9X bruh I just used the animal glitch and got my chao to level 99 then I let it mature to an adult and I won
I used Knuckles to dig up an electric shield on the beach, so I could AFK rings in the lobby switch, then fed my chao a SHIT LOAD of chao fruit lol
Took an entire evening or so. Worth it. Got the achievement.

^Can confirm, I never bothered getting them until now, but they're not as hard as I thought. Only ones I had a problem with were Casinopolis and the Sky Chase sub-games.
Shimmering Bass I had trouble with the chao ecery time I would quit the garden, my data was deleted. That's why I never 100% completed this game

Don’t get me wrong, metal sonic is one of my favorite characters in the entire series, and he’s my favorite villain in the series as a whole, but he was not worth how much work you have to do to get him. I could understand if you have to beat all of the normal missions but you literally have to complete everything to unlock him and he’s just a Sonic reskin.
At the very least, he should’ve had harder levels or his own gimmick ability, such as performing the maximum overdrive to get a burst of speed or to hover for a short distance.
If the remake happens he should get
Custom animations
His own story
Give him new stages to play through
Thats all

Really wish they had made his gliding animation the pose he stuck for his top speed. That's his classic "running" style and it looks weird to see his feet going like Sonic's
During Sky Chase in the original Dreamcast version, Sonic & Tails are in their classic design (with their SONIC R model), since the game was originally made for the SEGA Saturn and they forgot to replace the R models in Sky Chase Zone with their modern design. Either that or because the Zone's short so it really wasn't noticeable....

I could be wrong, but as I'm seeing this for the first time, his character model looks slightly similar to his SA2 2P VS Mode model, at least his body sheen does. And what do you mean, "Oddly enough, he also cannot breath underwater"? Of course he can't! He's a robot! Logically, he's supposed to realistically short out the second he gets submerged in a body of water.
I would’ve liked it if they based his move set off of Sonic CD. Y’know where he shoots lasers and can blast off at high speeds thanks to his jet? Kinda meh, but I like that they gave you something for your efforts regardless.

I cant be the only one who thinks this isnt actually "lazy" at all right? This game has a huge amount of attention to detail and already a shit load of extra stuff in it. It has far more added to it than SA2B did which only had a shitty multiplayer that no one used. You get metal sonic as an unlockable skin after getting 180 emblems. I've been playing this game on and off since about 2008 and I've never gotten all 180. A VERY small number of people actually achieve this. Why would they lock away an entire story campaign behind such a rare achievement? That would just feel horrible for the majority of players. Sure it'd be cool if he had unique metal sonic attacks or even just slightly different animations but quit expecting an entire section of the game to be locked behind a challenge barely anyone has the patience or time to achieve.
Read the messages from those who complain about sega being lazy and you'll realize that 95% of them are written by kids, who don't understand how much time and effort is put into making a game. They could've added literally nothing for getting all the emblems, but they actually made a cute little bonus for those who went an extra mile. And I personally really enjoy the metal's model. Ffs, even making a new model is already a fuckton of work, how are they lazy :D
If the game was made to day, metal sonic will be a payed DLC. I never got this achievement before. Don't even know how many emblems I got. But one thing for sure is that they all gone after many many years because the memory card got corrupted
SA2 battle multiplayer was an integral part of my weekends years ago, plus they had interesting skins for the multiplayer characters

Everyone here is complaining about how his animation’s are lazy and how he should’ve gotten his own story. (Though those are valid points.) But hey, I’m just glad for a chance to play as Metal in 3D Sonic game at all. Also, at least in SADX you get something for getting all the Emblems, unlike in the Dreamcast version.
Metal sonic doesn’t look bad in Sonic Adventure, although wish haded his own story like umm, after he was defeated by sonic he came doing missions and seeking for sonic for revenge and stuff

Trust me, folks. As someone who completed this game 100% back in 2005 on Gamecube, THIS REWARD ISN'T REALLY WORTH IT. Both Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 had pretty underwhelming rewards with so much tedious work to get them. Completed them both once. NEVER AGAIN.
At least they gave a reskinto people who wanted to go an extra mile. Plus I’m pretty sure plenty of people wanted to 100% this

Let's be honest here. How many sonic games let you play as metal? Not too much belive me. So even if is boring at some point, is so cool anyways
Sonic Drift 2, Sonic R, Sonic The Fighters HD, Sonic Adventure DX, Sonic Adventure 2 (alt skin for Shadow in original, unique character in Battle), Sonic & Sega All Stars Racing (DLC), All Stars Racing Transformed (DLC), Sonic 4 (Episode Metal Bonus) Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games/London 2012 Olympic Games (Wii and 3DS).
Apparently those are all the games in which he is playable. (EDIT: And I can't believe I forgot Sonic 4 before this...) Notice how most of them are spin-offs... and Sonic Adventure 2 only allows you to use him in 2 player mode.
So this is a serious question... What would a Metal Sonic story for Sonic Adventure DX be like? I've been trying to come up with one for a long time, but I haven't ever been fully satisfied with any of my drafts...
My guess would be it has to take place after Perfect Chaos. Think of it like DLC but one you have to unlock by either getting all Emblems or getting all A ranks with each character on each mission.
Eggman amazed by Sonic's new found power goes back to the forbidden ruin's after collecting data on Sonic. Uses that data to make Metal Sonic and sends him out into Time Square to wreck havoc. Metal Sonic causes almost as much destruction as Perfect Chaos and Sonic's Friends hear about the commotion to head over. The first to arrive is Tails then Knuckle's and Big just so happened to be in the sewers. Metal beats all of the Sonic Friend's with Amy being the last person. As Metal Sonic fly's in to finish her Sonic grabs her out of the way at the last second but gets slightly hurt from Metal's attack. Sonic is surprised he got hit and bets Metal can't do it again if he's on guard. Metal takes Sonic up on his taunt and fly's in but Sonic dodges or so he thinks. Metal flew in but quickly blitzed around Sonic hitting him before he could land. Sonic realizing this isn't some ordinary Enemy and wants to get out of the city as to not cause anymore damage. Before Sonic runs Eggman's voice is heard out of Metal taunting Sonic. Sonic realizing it's Eggman asks him where is he hiding. Eggman is spectating through Metal Sonic's eye's at his base. Eggman goes on saying he's made this new robot as a means to destroy Sonic. Sonic says that'll never happen and that he'll destroy this robot just like all the others. Eggman say's "Good Luck and Try". Metal launches at Sonic with Sonic responding to it by running out of Time Square by the Train Track's the location Tails workshop is. As Sonic makes the destination Metal is HOT 🔥 on his trail not easing up one bit. Now that they're out of the city Sonic runs through the level's while battling Sonic.
As you go into each level your goal as Metal is to beat Sonic to the end so he won't escape only thing is if Sonic has all his power ups from his story he will use them in the level to escape you. Once you get to the end you cutscene to crashing into Sonic. Sonic surprised that this "Tin Can" is actually keeping up with him so he runs to a different level. Rinse and repeat for 3 levels each one harder then the last with more obstacles in your way. 1st level is that Cave next to tails workshop, 2nd level is the Icy Mountains (Sonic is Snowboarding down hill and you got to beat him to the finish) and lastly is the forbidden ruin's where Big's house is only this time you actually fight Sonic full on as a boss. You beat Sonic to go into a cutscene of Metal walking up to Sonic menacingly while he's one the ground and you hear Eggman's voice again taunting Sonic saying "Hahaha I told you Sonic you couldn't destroy my new creation. It truly is my best work. Now it's time to be rid of you once and for all" only for Tails, Knuckle's, Amy and Big the Cat sorming into Eggman's jungle bass catching Eggman slipping. The Audio is still on but you hear Eggman screaming what are you fools doing here and Tails voice says "we're here to save Sonic and put an end to all this Eggman" to then hear a bunch of controls and machine's being destroyed. Eggman's screams out NOOOO but it cuts in and out. Recognizing what's going on Sonic uses that opportunity to attack Metal Sonic and you go into one last boss fight. Only this time Sonic is faster and eventually you lose. With Metal losing it starts to blow up dramatically with Sonic and friend's running out of the jungle escaping the blast. Metal goes boom and it transitions to Sonic n Friend's at Tails workshop. Sonic thanks them for saving his hide and Tails say's "no need to thank us, you would've did the same" and Knuckle's saying "yeah but I would've had beaten that thing by myself". Amy say's "sure you would Knuckle's" and Knuckle's has a shocked look on his face and everyone starts laughing. You get the credits with Sonic traveling as usual, Knuckle's protecting the Master Emerald, Amy chasing after Sonic, Tails is working in his shop and Big is on Tails Roof sitting down throwing Froggie up and down. The last scene is Eggman devasted by his base being blown up get's mad that he kicks a Brocken machine over but notices a dairy. The dairy belonged to his grandfather with tales of a "Ultimate Lifeform" and it pans out with Eggman laughing. Alluding to Sonic Adventures 2

Metal Sonic is supposed to be a challenge to og Sonic, it's supposed to be as fast (or more) than Sonic, but in this and SA2 he controls way worse and its way slower

Honestly, Metal Sonic should have had like an electrical barrier around his body so that no enemies would harm him and he wouldn't have take any hits. In additional, possibly a bigger jump than Sonic. Now that would be Metal Sonic than just a mod of Metal Sonic using Sonic's character.
The barrier idea is stupid because it seems like it is there for sucky players..

I need help PLEASE FROM SOMEONE. I'm trying to get all the achievements and I got all of the emblems and the DLC but I don't have metal sonic unlocked. He isn't in adventure and he isn't in trial and I don't have the missions tab so I can't get that achievement EVEN THOUGH I HAVE THE DLC. Please help me PLEASE PLEASE PLEEEEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@Starscream91 Right, but metal sonic doesn't really run much, if at all. When he goes through speed zippers or gets the speed shoes power up she should use the thruster on his back to increase his speed, not ape normal Sonic's animation. The animations for Metal aren't complete. Look at Metal Sonic in SA2 Battle for how he should operate in 3D. Also, he I would say he shouldn't use the homing attack. In place of it, he should air dash or use his overdrive attack.
So when metal sonic runs really fast, he just runs like sonic instead of hovering?
No, he's supposed to go into overdrive mode aka there should visible output from the booster on his back. He rarely, if ever runs normally like normal Sonic. He uses his propulsion system to fly everywhere.
