  • Cruising with Samspace81 in a vintage 1959 Chevrolet Biscayne sedan in Dallas, Texas. This '59 Chevy Biscayne is the plain jane sister to the 1959 Chevy Impala but has plenty of style & chrome. This is a fine classic car, always a Texas car. She spent most of her days in Amarillo. Features include updated power front disc brakes, the original 283 2bbl. V8, and power steering. Check out the Magic Mirror 2-tone Cameo Coral & Snowcrest white finish & chrome. Harley Earl and the GM design team were at their pinnacle during the 1959 model year. What style for a base sedan! Another slice of 1950s Americana today. Enjoy this 4K Ultra HD Sony ready collector car retro Dallas, Texas test drive video by Samspace81.

My dad owned one when i was probably 14 years old or so . He bought it used but it was in great shape .It was a six cylinder with three on the tree. I used to like watching him shift it from 1st to 3rd.gear. It had original paint / green and white. How i wanted to drive that car.

Unlike today's cars, these cars typically only had a life span of about 80 K miles The average car on the road today is 12 years old. Then, the average car on the road was about 7 years old, and a 12 year old car was ANCIENT. I was born in 1963, and I can remember seeing a few of these still on the road when I was little, but not many, and they were all beaters.

That was my Dad's car. I grew up riding in it. He had manual spot light on the driver's side. 13 mpg and a very distinctive engine sound. The interior upholstery was of poor quality, but mechanically it was bullet proof. Never had to do anything except change oil and brake pads. Loads of room and a comfortable ride. Could accelerate too. It came with a bumper jack. Now try that with a modern car.

My parents bought this exact car, same colors, in 1958. It was a beautiful car, but it was the "cursed" car. The first week they owned it the neighbor kids set their house on fire and our garage caught on fire. They all got out ok, and my mom had to jump in the new car in the burning garage to get it out. Then, she had to get our garden hose and put the flames out on it. It was involved in three rear ends at red lights, twice broadsided while parked (an old guy backed out of his driveway and went across six lanes to hit it while missing all the other cars, second time we were at church and someone parked on a steep hill and forgot to put their car emergency brake on and wham, our car was the only one hit on the entire street!). Last but not least, it was stolen while we were at church. When the police called to tell my dad it had been found he said, "KEEP IT!" I have never bought a maroon or red colored car in my life due to being completely freaked out by these events (ok, a little superstitious). But, it was still A GREAT CAR!

All the '59 Chevy's are beautiful cars, even after almost 60 years. The Biscayne looks the neatest of all, with its minimal use of chrome trim and the taillight lenses without the chrome ribs. I would like to bring up this fact: Years ago, there was this public service announcement on TV in which four (or was it three?) young men steal a '59 Chevy after the owner left the keys in the ignition. The young men went on a joyride, during which they drove through a red light and a '64 Chevy collides with them, and one of them is carried out on a stretcher and loaded into an ambulance. Scary, wasn't it? I've been trying to find it, but so far no luck.

...Always liked both the '59 and '60 Chevy styling in their full sized cars... With the exception of Cadillac, GM was setting its mind on _"Phasin' out the Fin,"_ stating, _"We've got to have a 'less classic,' lighter, more futuristic design for next decade, and into the one after that!"_ By 1962, the Chevy division had done exactly that, as well as Pontiac... By the mid 60s, only Cadillac was romancing any type of "finnage" on their body styles...

My first car a 1959 Chevy Impala. Only difference with this specimen is my Impala had a 283 four barrel with dual exhaust which was an option. This Biscayne is a fantastic example of these great cars.

I think I just had a cargasim ! I am in Australia and I remember there was a 59 right hand drive belonging to a friend of mum and dad who took us kids for a ride in it. They picked me up from school one day and man - I was the king of the playground for a couple of days. Same colour as this one (it was 'Coral' here in Au ... not pink)

@@samspace81 Love the 59 Chevy with the one year only taillights. And the way they did that body in general is just gorgeous. Maybe one day I can get one and the Les Paul. 59 Les Paul is now $400,000. Insane what anything cost these days.

7:13 drives by a ford with clear coat paint chipping off. Perfect illustration how durable cars were then than now. That's like an insult to today's cars cuz here you have a 58 year old car in perfect shape.

Lovely car, but it is quite distracting the fact that the steering wheel is upside down. The horn ring is supposed to be in the bottom half of the steering (stock) in order not to block vision of the instruments.
