  • Holme Pierrepont is a term that consists of two words holme and Pierrepont. Holme means "a low land near river and Pierrepont is a french word for stone bridge and is the surname of an anglo-norman family which once owned this land. It has a long history and traces have been found of the bronze age, iron age, and Roman period.

    Holme Pierrepont Hall is a Grade I listed medieval hall. The hall was built by Sir William Pierrepont around 1500 and inhabited by subsequent generations of the Pierrepont family.
