I was at the Kraken-Islanders game and knew something was up when the clock read something like "65.3" seconds left. I was looking at the people leaving around me going "what are you doing, you muppets?! The clock is BROKEN!" 🤣
The title dang-it actually _has_ happened before: October 16, 1993, the original Winnipeg Jets host the Chicago Blackhawks; 41 seconds into OT Nelson Emerson of Winnipeg intercepts a clearing attempt by Ed Belfour behind the Blackhawks net by grabbing the puck with his glove, racing around to the front of the goal and throwing it into the net. And the crazy thing was that even after a video review, _the goal counted!_ The Jets won 1-0 off of a thrown puck in the net.
No matter what anyone, myself included, thinks of the poor state of officiating in the NHL today, it used to be 100x worse.

Just saw video of that myself. That was even a Double Dang-It - once for the thrown puck, but also that the play never would have happened had Ed Belfour known that IF YOU'RE A GOALTENDER... TEND THE GOAL!!!
How did you miss the fact that Binnington turned the puck over TWICE, and got scored on by Ryan Hartman TWICE, in that game?
Well noone on that team plays defenses so he’d thought he’d give it a try

Zegras stealing Kiiviranta's stick reminded me of the time where Mikko Koivu took Bobby Ryan's stick, so Ryan picked up Koivu's stick, which was the wrong handedness, and still scored with it.
That's called establishing dominance. Damn.
Trevors stick was broken, if you look closely, still absolutely hilarious that he stole an opposition players stick .... And was like .. What ... I'm just here playing some hockey!
Evgeny Kuznetsov did something similar 4 years ago when he lost his stick, and grabbed an opponent's stick which had gotten stuck in the Zamboni door.
@@spoof1234 It all started with Mikko Koivu dropping his stick and taking Corey Perry's stick in a battle along the boards. Perry picks up Koivu's stick and scores with it, making the notion to show Koivu afterwards. What made it more funny was Koivu was a right shot while Perry was a left shot.
That's why Z was so pissed, the other player snapped it in his arm so he had to drop it, so he took the stick as payback. Hilarious but still a penalty.

And that JT miller things was just awful on his part... Delia WAS almost at the blueline when miller decided to turn around and skate back (while under a bit of preasure) so yeah... delia got his ass back in the net BECAUSE of Millers dumbass play

If u watch closely, you can Delia wasn't even looking at Miller when he was yelling at him. He was, rightly so, looking at the bench for the coaches signal to bail....Coach also confirmed that afterwards in an interview. Not Millers decision to make and extremely unprofessional!
Miller, formerly one of the top predicted players of the season, and an undroppable asset on yahoo fantasy, now one of the biggest drags to my team ever...
The J.T. Miller situation is the most disgust I have had for a team I cheer for. Not towards the team itself, but only towards the player. It's sad to see that this tension will cause issues for future games.
Future games... More like future SEASONS... Not even a 'nucks fan and I'm mad too...
With the Miller one the things I take are 1: Bruce usually doesn't pull his goalie until after the team has got the puck past the blue line into the neutral zone, so Delia might have been waiting for that. 2: Giving the number of times old JT Turnover there has turned the puck over this year I don't blame Delia for being hesistant to leave when he has it :P
I'm of a like mind on this, since there was an opposing player pretty darn close to Miller when he started yelling. As a result, I really can't blame Delia for hesitating when all of his training and instincts are telling him to stay put for the moment! 🙄
@@TheNighthawke502 Bruce was interviewed and said he told Delia to stay. Delia was trying to follow Bruces call and JT Clownshow comes in screaming and wastes 20 seconds.
Bottom line, JT doesn’t make that call, the coach does. He can tell all he wants, he’s not in charge. The goalie goes to the bench when he’s told to BY THE COACHING STAFF, not by a 20-something man-child who can’t manage his emotions.
And the total disrespect towards Delia is appalling beyond any reason. He's your goaltender and you are yelling and hitting your stick TO HIS NET. Just f off from ice hockey JT. Would sit next 5 games in the stands and sent off to another team after that.
not to mention this just wasnt jt's call to make??? jt isnt the coach, it doesnt really matter what he WANTED or THOUGHT, its not really his call amd its crazy he yelled at delia like that, publicly for that matter!
should’ve had travis boyd’s goal against the lightning on here. bogosian tries to clear, gives it away to boyd who shoots and it is then deflected off vasilevsky back into bogosian, into the net. truly a work of art
was at the Red Wings vs. Senators game when the "IF YOU'RE A GOAL TENDER, TEND THE GOAL." and was happy to see one in person, which helped my team.

The crazy part of that JT Miller stuff is the fact that people actually defend his antics because he occasionally scores goals (while his team is usually still losing). I don't know what they think they'll get from that. Do they think he'll be their best friend for it? Do they think they'll get free tickets? I don't get it.

17:30 Steve was talking about talking it over to make sure the call was correct… I was waiting for the Ceci penalty in the Oilers vs Jets game from NYE where it’s very clear that the jet player deflected it out of play but the ref called the delay of game without talking to anyone else and the Jets score, going on to win that game 2-1.

I was fuming at Miller during that. wasted almost 20 seconds slapping his stick at Delia while skating behind our net instead of I DONT KNOW MAYBE GETTING A GOOD ZONE ENTRY SO WE CAN PULL THE GOALIE
Miller's a lazy player, he puts up points, but he's as relaxed as someone getting a massage when the Canucks are in the defensive zone, scrambling.

Binnington had 2 giveaways that resulted in Hartman goals in that game, might even have been the same period. Both were worthy of Dang its, especially considering it was TWICE in one game.. to the same player.

Hey Steve. On the binnington dang it, I’m not sure why he felt the need to play the puck BUT he messed up twice! Yea bad pass but he had a chance to stop it. As a goalie I was taught to always skate toward the puck. If u skate to the right behind the net, stop the puck while facing the boards and send the puck right, skate right and make a big circle. This ensured the goalie will at lease be covering part of the net, rather than taking the long way round and being stuck behind the net. Hard to explain but hopefully that made sense lol
I thought the same thing when I saw what Binnington did. Your momentum is carrying you that way and like you said, you’re on the correct side of the goal to make a stop if needed!
Watching Binnington be a good does bring me joy though, so I’ll take it 😁

No, that still wouldn't have counted. He should have gotten a penalty for closing his hand on the puck. That is an actual penalty, not made up..
@@brianhansma6924 that's true, but I don't think they'd be able to overturn it. They can look at missed stoppages and pucks going out of play, but not missed penalties.

I'm not a goalie (except in soccer) but I feel that the Blackwood dangit wasn't leaving the net - had he not left, Aho would have been all alone with the puck. Sometimes you need to be aggressive. The dang-it was the almost total whiff.

In a jets game in the late 80s or early 90s one of the jets players grabbed the puck as it came around the glass behind the net and skated to the front of the net and threw the puck into the net and the goal counted

Another one from that Islanders/Kraken game: at one point in the 1st period with like 7:10 left the goal horn sounded prematurly
Hey Steve, if you look at 9:28 you'll notice that the stick on the ice is actually broken so he couldn't pick it up. So rather than pick up the broken stick and take a penalty, or go back to the bench and leave the play giving the other team an advantage, he decided to steal the stick instead.. which is actually even better and made it all the more funny to me
