When I was in Elementary School, our Swim Teacher always told us to take off our watches before dipping in the pool.
Boy did I feel like a bad-ass rebel every time I flex on them swimming with this one still on my wrist.
youre brave.
I hear ya, many may not experience the times when water resistance is somewhat of a luxury item especially for boys of the school age. Ability to run through rain and swim while wearing a watch is something to be brag about among the 10 years old kids.
Same! Also swam with my 50m Pulsars all the time as a kid, makes me laugh when people think you need 200m to go swimming in the pool nowadays
Oh boy. What a joy
#likeaboss
I have one from 1994, and its still working, and in the last 26 year I only needed to change the battery two times, in 2006, and a month ago in 2020. Its pretty impressive I think.
And all this reliability for around 10 bucks! Thats really impressive.
Can’t wait until mine finally ships :D
@@MinefighterLP i just got mine and its amazing, i prefer mechanical but this little thing has something special 😄
And I am impressed that you remember the years you replaced the batteries!
I think battery life was 7 years
Has the band actually held up all this time???
These Casios are basically Swiss army knifes in watch form.
Simple, Easy, Cheap and get the job done well.

I wear a standard F-91w to work everyday and I love the little guy. Great watch for construction. Cheap, durable, accurate, light, retro styling. Total win
Crazy thing is that after a busy day, I come home to find an amazon package at my door step knowing very well what it is. I rush to open it and literally as I pull out my brand new F-91W, I get the notification for this video. It’s fate!
An excellent ice-breaker as well to start a conversation. April 2019 I was trekking in Nepal and in the common dining room I spotted this watch worn by another trekker. I asked him straight up "Hello is that an f91". At first he was taken a back and looked at his watch to confirm the number and he gladly nodded in agreement "yeah but this is written f minus 91w". We spoke non stop for over an hour after that
Looks like the Casio f91W can make you some friends. I just got on on Amazon for $10. Hard to believe the price has not changed much. Sometimes, it is $17 and it can switch back and forth with price on the same day.
Michael Schumacher, had one glued to his steering wheel. He timed his own laps using this model
it was mad. such a legend that is still among us. R.I.P Sir Stirling Moss. You will be missed.
That's a very interesting piece of trivia. Thx
But what if the battery runs out?
@@8zzzzzd79 buy a new one. Doesn't hurt the wallet to change it way ahead of when it might run out either.
It was actually a Casio F-30, I believe.
I get more complements from people my age group about my f-91w than i do from any of my watches. As a younger watch collector (24 years old) the f-91w was my first watch i bought for work at 18. 6 years later it has been through so much I don't want to part with it. I even climbed Machu Picchu with it!
i can feel this comment. my workmates never comment on my other automatic watches, but they go crazy about my F-91w
Same dude I’m 21 and when ever I wear an omega nobody bats an eye but I wear my Casio and girls will compliment it and I’m just like sitting there in confusion haha
24 is young for a watch collector?
Im 14 and collect affordable watches
(Casio, seiko, timex etc.)
@@wheepylive9040 Good for you, welcome to the hobby! I would say 24 is on the young side as it's the age when people are finally out of university and become young professionals. It's around this age when they can start making big purchases. If you look at most watch collectors they tend to be much older especially when it comes to luxury watches. Especially since young adults who just entered the professional world most likely have not made enough money to purchase a Rolex.
@@Antoto96 yeah..
You can' really call me a watch collector as i can only think about purchasing entry level watches
But yeah thanks :D
Im going to save up for one good watch in the future depending on how my life goes
Never been a watch guy. Never saw the need to wear one and i dont like they way they look on me but as a trash truck driver i bought one almost a year ago. Its perfect to time our air break tests i have to do every morning. And besides that ive really grown to like this watch. I used to wear it just at work but i find myself wearing it more and more outside of work as well.
For those who want to change the strap, the lugwidth is 18mm. I've got a silver one on a two piece bond 18mm nato.
Great to know, thanks! I just picked up some 18mm NATOs for another watch, this info was the tipping point for me to pick one of these up. I had a black one years ago, time to replace it!
Notice, that there's very small gap between the bar an the watch body,, and it's pretty difficult to place nato strap
I have lots of watches but the watch that's on my wrist 99.5% of the time is my Casio F91w. I like all my watches but I absolutely love my F91w. It's just on a completely different level.
My f91 is beat, yet still gets noticed when worn more than most of my watches. Its covered in scratches and paint splatters and I love it even more for it, a watch you can truly bash around doing work and not care.
Oh hell yes. Still rocking the grey one on a NATO.
How many brands will deliver you a reliable watch with a day-date function, 12/24h, alarm and stopwatch, at least some splash resistance if nothing else at $10 that will last you at least a few years? Probably just the one.
ive tried to push the pin to change the strap, but man I'm afraid I'd break the plastic case 😂
I have a B640 and its losing a second every week and its pissing me off 😂
I know its like only 50 seconds a year but my other casios like the royale only off like 0.1 second a month so comparatively its much worse.
@@chantakzee haha, my f91 loses a couple of seconds a month I guess. It bugs me too so I go and sync it to atomic time once a month. Suuuper extra, lol
@@cakraparindra4659 Case will be fine tbh, but getting a NATO in takes a good bit of effort because the distance between case and lug is really small.
Well you get 💯 for a service of a quality watch.
I wore a F-91W daily all through the 90's. It never let me down, kept perfect time, I wore it to work under a dress shirt and I wore it while playing sports. Fantastic watch. I had totally forgotten about it when I saw it online a couple of weeks ago. I had no idea Casio was still selling the same exact watch since 1989. How cool, it is retro and new all at the same time. I immediately ordered one and have been wearing it daily since I got it. Wow, it is 1990 all over again :) A nice bit of nostalgia for $12. I collect watches but this is all the watch anyone needs if you just want the correct time. Everyone should have one in their collection.
I'm mowed a lot of lawns to be able to get the money to buy my first one it seemed like it was a whole bunch of money back then
😝krazy !
The casio F-91w both apocalypse & Covid-19 certified. Just add a dose of dunkaroos for invincibility & nostalgia. Cheers to all here for Jory's great T3 vids. 🍻🥂🍺🍺🍷🍷
Wore this as a dentist for decades. Easy to clean off and never had to dispose of it. Checked it incessantly while treating patients. Only the band needed replacement. Classic, functional watch for everyday use. I still have one from the 1980's without the band in one of my drawers as a momento to its history.
My first watch as a schoolkid in the 90's! Never gave them much thought after that until a joined the army and seen them being sported on many soldiers wrists. Cheap cheerful and reliable.
Back in the day I got my 1st Casio, I went crazy and bought the w726 for £2 extra cos I wanted 100m wr, it also has dual time, alarm, countdown timer, stopwatch, day, date, month and a decent backlight, 10 year+ battery. Oh and it still works perfectly 30 years later!
Jori, I hope to God that it's not until now that you own a Casio F-91W. This model is the quintessential Casio every watch enthusiast has to own. No one can be a serious watch collector, connoisseur nor expert without owning one. It is the perfect watch for those places and times you may not want to wear an expensive piece.
I use to play with the stop watch function and tried to get the milliseconds to 00. So much fun and once I did I told my friends they couldn’t and then it became a competition
I did the same game with my friends and got it to 01 with my secret special technique. That was a little trick by using the split button so you can start it with one button and stop it with the other. That looks pretty cool. 00;00 01
Every day!
I thought I was the only one that did that. It never happened for me
My 5 year old son wears it now. It's the same watch I wore when he was born. Same battery.
I remeber my grandfather giving me an F-91W when I was like 5 yeaes old. Wish I still had it.
This watch gives me the fizz. Like the paid off mortgage beats the BMW as the new status symbol. I don’t want to go overboard but “Self actualized” comes to mind. Thanks for the trip back to our roots.
It was my go to watch for my global backpacking trips in the 80s and 90s I was never worried about it getting stolen or me getting mugged for a expensive watch
I've still got my Casio Marlin W-24a that I received as a birthday gift in 1983. Its a little beat up, but still in very good condition for its age and everything works, including the light. The original strap has long since disintegrated, but an F-91w strap has taken its place, since it's the closest to the original design that's available.Wore the hell out of it all through the 80s and early 90s, and I'll never get rid of it.
How to spot a fake F91w: Press the button on the right for 3 seconds. The display will show "CASIo" if it's genuine. Or press all three buttons together and you'll see every caractere activated on the display
Sadly, the fakers have now picked up on this, and many current fakes pass this test. I got burned by this last year: that's £3.99 I'll never see again. 😉
Lol I never knew about that
@@considermycat How did you know your watch was fake?
Around 1993 I was doing asbestos abatement (removal) I had one of those on my wrist and a spare in my locker for when (not if) it got destroyed. Between the water, the shock of hammering, or something heavy ripping it off your wrist and it falling down somewhere it could never be retrieved, I went through a few of them. Still have a metal cased Casio in my watch cabinet for fishing.
The databank, the royale, the f-91, the duro and any gshock. Can't go wrong and there will always be one in my collection.
My dad's f91 is still a-ok after 17 years, no battery replacement. One of the toughest watch ever made, methinks.
I happened to own the F91, F94, W217, and AE1200..and surely more to come. Casio is simply great.
I used to be the type of guy who hated battery quartz watches, but now I've come to appreciate them. So much so that I've decided to purchase the silver variant of these lovely Casio F91's. Can't wait to receive it! Got it for $20 with shipping and tax, but I did purchase it from the official Casio store on Ebay. Based on everything I've seen about these watches, I am pretty much entirely certain it will be worth it! Love the simplistic retro styling of these things.
"Even Casio's building looks Casio " ♥ this is why i subscribed
I got a F91W for Christmas this past year and I love it even more now that that it has a lot of history. I got it because I needed a watch for work and I love wearing it. Great video!
Just jumped back in time still love this watch, oh, and Goldeneye.
I miss my old Casio watches (1980s), wore them back in grade school. I never owned an F91 because it was the 90s when it came out, and I had graduated to a G-Shock by then.
How can you say the G-shock would not exist without the f91-w, the G-shock predates it by 8 years
Six years. 😉
So funny I just ordered this exact model last night as my new work beater! Need something small, functional and affordable and this checked all the boxes. Can't wait to get it! Great vid!
I own a F91-W for a while and never wear them since i thought it is part of my casio collection. And i have 7½ inch wrist as well so i think it's a little smaller and look like a toy watch.
But during this kind of pandemic which force me work from home and spend most of my time doing stuff at home so it become my daily watch. Somehow i'm becoming to appreciate and love this watch more every single day. Amazing.
Great video.
So my mother had this watch back in the mid 90's the first time I saw her after she had abandoned me 3yrs prior.
We sat at my Nan's kitchen table and her red F-91 caught my eye as she asked me (Do you forgive me?) To which I replied (Only if I can have that watch!)
I was clearly hardened by this point!!
Anyway I didn't get that watch as she was a nurse and needed it for work but soon afterwards my Dad let us begin monthly weekend visits and sure enough I arrived at her place one Friday night and voila! I had my own one just the same! Great bribe Mum, in hindsight it kinda worked on me!
Needless to say as a rough kid I broke / lost it within months but recently after beginning a watch collection properly for the first time I pulled the trigger on a black and blue one for a colossal £6.70 in GBP delivered free via Amazon prime and I'm wearing it right now as I type during my long quiet night shift.
Great to read everybody's stories and memories surrounding this horological icon!!
These watches are amazing. Not even marketed as water resistant, yet people snorkel with them (I swim with mine all the time). Also great is the model that’s about $2 more (model number F105w) and has an Illuminator display.
The F91W IS my everyday work watch. I will not take a nice watch to work, just to have it destroyed at some job! Problem is, the F91W is so reliable, rugged, and accurate, I do not miss my other watches. IF I was a sane human being, this would be my only watch. Unfortunately, I'm a very shallow and vain person...
Agree with you
You and me both!
I taught myself how to solder properly in order to replace the dim LED on this watch several times now, I love it as a beater and practice watch.
I actually just ordered one to throw in my watch box as a beater. I had an F91-W I bought when I was in boot camp 13 years ago. We weren't allowed to wear fancy watches but they took us to the base store to get some supplies and they had F91-W's there and me being a watch guy I had to have a watch on my wrist and I found this little Casio did the trick. Also it has an alarm which is good when you need to get up for fire watch.
My very first digital that I owned back in the 1960's here in the UK was a Casio. They had a stainless steel case and caseback in those days and were quite expensive. I have several Casio watches in my collection but not the F91. I own two Casio 5610 G-Shocks though which are awesome, two MTD1053D dive watches and other square watches by Casio which includes the Royale on the stainless steel bracelet. Casio offer an awesome range of watches and they are great value for money. I am currently wearing my Casio W-96H watch which I really enjoy wearing which is a bit larger than the F91 on the wrist and is quite a stylish watch and might be worth a review. It's great for someone with a small wrist size. Thank for uploading this video and greetings from here in the UK.
In December 2020 I looked at this watch as a gift for my spouse, but wound up going with the G-Shock DW5600E-1V. Love what Casio did with the industry and love that these watches are their own design. Few other watch makers stand on their own design language the way Casio does. She loves the watch, btw.
Absolutely with you!!! Bit of a shady past but what an Icon! I’ll put the Casio Ca53W calculator watch up in that icon tear to!!!! Just got an A168WA! A little chunkier that the F91W, but looking forward to reviewing it!!!! GREAT BACK LIGHT THIS ONE!;)
What shady past are you talking about?
@@gohan12991 look up Casio and bombs
I got the A158, which is the exact same but with steel look, man that is a true masterpiece
Finally, the video review that was missing!
Love this watch! It's utility and simplicity at its best.
I have three color variants including the stainless steel one and they are some that I will never get rid of. They just hit the spot for value, price, fun, nostalgia and amazing fit, they just blend into the wrist and disappear.
Casio G Shock: A tough watch for people with a big ego.
Casio F-91W: A tough iconic watch for people without a big ego.
I have a few watches but the F-91W is hand down the one that gets the most wrist time. It’s just a fantastic watch and I love wearing it. I bought a bunch of them and gave to my daughter, my girlfriend and some of my friends and they all loved it.
G Shocks and whatnot were huge in the 90's because we needed that alarm since a lot of us didn't have cellphones then.

This was my second watch! I took it everywhere, but sadly killed it by trying to turn the light on under water.
Fatal mistake! PSA for those who don't know. If you're underwater with one of these on, do not push the buttons!

I had the same Casio 91-w since I join the army and I have used it for 3 years now every single day, also the same color one as the video
When it comes to nostalgic things like this, an improved highly visible backlight would actually take away from the watch. Just like taking your favorite N64 game and keeping it exactly the same but with up-to-date graphics.
i wear my F-84W every time i go out so that I don't worry about it and can scrub it clean in the sink when I get home.
I have a couple of these somewhere in the house. The straps lasted about a couple years or so. One thing though, the batteries in them lasts a long time. Nice review. Love your videos!
My Casio F91-W is my daily work watch. It's great apart from the awful backlight.
Coincidentally watching this with my green F-91W on. 👍🏼
Likewise
Another iconic timepiece. I've met few people who haven't owned one at some point. My collection wouldn't feel complete without it Nice to see Ultraman get the cameo as well! 😁
It’s refreshing to watch a review of an affordable watch as most channels nowadays seem to focus on luxury watches.... thanks T3 I enjoyed this review very much! ❤️
I bought this exact one a few weeks ago and LOVE it! Looks amazing when the sun hits the case.
My mother gave me this watch way back 90's but somehow I lost it & I don't remember how.. But now I realized how valuable it is to treasure something with sentimental value I ordered the same f91w & will keep it for the rest of my life together with all my watch collections.. Now currently owning 6 classic retro casio digital watches including the back to the future calculator watch & casio royale in resin black.. & still eyeing for more casios in the future..
Congratulations on the donation Jori, that is very good of you and the T3 Team.
I totally get what you mean about Casios looking like Casios. They have always had a consistent design language and consistent user interface. In the mid-80s, my big brother would take me to San Francisco Chinatown and into the camera and electronics shops and we would haggle with the shop owners over rare Casios that were not available in department stores. I probably owe my love of watches more to this than seeing my dad's wear his gold Rolex and that is saying a lot.
I love Casio digital watches. I hate Rolex.
@@SHARPGFX-dc9gj I love both but I’m curious to hear why you hate rolex?
A true watch fan like you gets excited by the watch not the price tag. I´ve been getting into quartz Seikos from the 70´s- they go for pretty cheap but they do represent a hugely important turning point in the history of watches. That is cool to me. Back in 1975 say, quartz watches were still pretty new and at people were like, wow, you mean I don´t have to wind this....for years!!!
Hi,Jory,,your reviews are great, you have loads of personality and a great sense of humour ! This is one of my favourite Casio’s and in this colour. It’s so well made, the colour never fades and the strap is good looking and well made.lt keeps amazingly accurate time and really,it’s all the watch you need and it now comes in a colour to suit everyone.l also own the GBD-200,a smaller version of your g shock because l wanted to have a Casio with that amazing negative display, which is an incredible breakthrough for digital watches. Thanks for this review.A lot of people who may never have thought of buying this Casio might think about it now ! Robyn Griffin,Sydney,Australia.
Such great (and affordable) watches I have two of them! The second came from my dad, who kept it in his pocket for almost a decade which meant the case was sanded smooth, making the case flush with the crystal and removing all the linear details! The area around the lugs is very thin due to all the wear. I was worried about putting a strap on it, so I added wire lugs made from paperclips. It now sits on a spare 20mm NATO I had lying around. Cost me nothing and it’s now unique!
This is the watch I had for the most amount of time in my life. I really love it. Very nostalgic.
I had this watch years ago and it was a tuff watch. I never had any issues with it. Nice review!
A very good review video for a great watch! Just one note: the date you have set is saying Monday September 1st, though ;)
This was my very first watch in 1997 and I think it is still the "best value" one available.
Durability (23 years and counting, battery changed only twice), digital precision, size, complications, water resistance, super cheap price: there is nothing on the market, as far as I know, that can compete with it!
Im saving up money to buy this one someday😊
IV one you can have for noting
Me too.
I worked in a jewelry store for a few years, I was the store "watch guy", so when someone asked about a watch they referred them to me, I did the batteries and adjusted the watch bands. When you talk about water resistance, watches that carry no water resistance labeling at all, they aren't even rated for splash. Many of those watches were wide open for water to enter, you could take the back off and see daylight out the opening for the stem, so there was absolutely nothing to prevent water from entering. No marking means no water resistance at all, it is recommended you remove the watch even when washing hands. Water resistant means splash water only, not even rated for swimming. Water resistant 50 or 100 will be good for surface swimming, usually no diving at all. One person brought in a watch, not marked water resistant at all, he went swimming in the ocean and when the watch was opened the movement was a solid lump of rust from the salt water.
I never thought that I would see an ode to the humble F-91w on a watch appreciation channel.
This thing has been a staple of my timekeeping life because for the longest time I couldn't afford anything fancier.
My last one had a broken band, I threw it out, and then I end up with a band for one from a yard sale. >.<
I might just get one because, why not...
We all have owned or own a Casio, whether we collect watches or not, very happy when someone reviews this watch. Hell yeah for all those retro toy, specifically on Chrono Trigger one of the best games ever with the best music on a video game.
This was my first watch. I didn't even know what it was until this video. Thank you for helping me remember. I loved it and wore it for years when commercial fishing, swimming and everything. I want to buy one for my nephew.
I usually spend this money on a watch strap, not a whole watch.
Jory, thanks to you i just orderd one.
Really cool retro piece.
I actually have the gold variant and it's the only "gold" watch that I don't hate the looks of. I'm thinking maybe because it's not trying to look like gold, it's sort a just more humble and it's own thing. Like you said trying to be futuristic but so nostalgic as well. It's just a nice everyday wear and plesent enough to look at.
I have one right now. Great watch. Awesome for working out in. Can barely feel it on the wrist
Earned a new sub. Quality content. Thanks man!
The First watch Casio my dad bought for me as gift in 90's. Fell in love with Casio watch since then.
F-91W, the 10 bucks watch even watch snobs with a rolex loves!
I love the F91W!!!
I miss mine. Had it buried in my room and it's alarm would wake me up at like 3 am bc I couldn't find it. Eventually found it, used it my senior year of hs, wore it all through out the pandemic, and now after I started working at a water park for summer the poor thing gave out on the first day of being submerged in chlorinated water. I don't know how old it really is or who even owned it before me but all I know is that I really like it alot. I think I'll get another.
Recognizing what "enough" is all about,re evaluating what one really needs.taking care of our needs as opposed to our greeds'
I have the exact same watch but in steel bracelet when I was a kid. I was so fascinated with the light function as a kid then! My peer wore a casio calculator watch n it was very expensive for me to own at that time. The casio calculator watch is a nerdy classic watch in the 80s.
Just got one today since I need a watch that can survive my foolishness. Really happy with my purchase and I can't wait to bash it up soon (and really, its just to make sure my Seiko 5 stay safe when I'm doing intensive tasks)

Seriously though, these things are great. I have a bunch of colors, most on natos, to match any mood or outfit. I just love the little guys. Cheap, cheerful, practical, tough, and adorkable.
Your young Time Teller. The F-w91 Came out in 1991 and Casio made there first watch in 1974. That is a 15 years apart. G-shock came out in 1984 a decade before the G-shock. Casio disconnected its older Digital, well not all, not the first G-shocks, it released the F-w91 in 1991. I group up as a little kid in the 1980's and the Casio Digital watches I had were not G-shocks but they had stainless steel buckles. Also Timex had a Digital divers watch that came out in 1980. When the 1990's came I was in high school and wore a Timex digital watch. Then in 1996 I revived a bigger Casio watch that wasn't a g-shock.
Casio started making Digital watches in 1974 and didn't even make the fist digital watch. That was Hamilton. On its American web site it is selling a reissue of that watch.

None of this is to knock Casio. I love the watches and grew up with them and I own plenty of them now but in no way did they make digital watches what they are today. That was Seiko. They were a big player in the Digital watch. If you watch the James Bond movies you will see what I mean.
Any way love the videos. Keep them coming.
What a comment and yet you are wrong. F-91w was released in 1989
These are great little watches. I have this and the A158W metallic version but I don't really wear then because they are so small. Both my boys first digital watches are F91W in the traditional colours.
I love this watch i just recently got the blue version i remember finding one on a lake shore when i was young in the 90s and the worked the next day these watches are gold.
The one thing that I can't get over is the lack of a 4th button. You have to go through the setting mode to get back to time mode. That kind of sucks, because an inadvertent button press could change the time. I like having a special setting button that you have to hold for a couple of seconds.
SInce the 80s, I can't count how many times I've almost bought this watch. I ended up buying something a little nicer, usually Armitron. I loved the ones with the little fake speaker in the corner.
had the their calculator watch then that one and then I fell in love with the Timex Ironman for digitals. If you are going to stay in that digital nostaligic mood for a bit going down the history of the Ironman would be fun.
Back in the day, I had the metal version of this, considering it to be more durable. At school, we played a game that was basically throwing stones at each other. One hit my Casio and took a chunk out of the (then metal) case. It continued to work perfectly.
14:52 Thanks. I was hoping and happy to see 11 hours 11 minutes and 11 seconds
