  • In this video, I share with you my method of transitioning pipe. A technique I learned through my years of pipeline welding. Transition just means welding thicker walled pipe to a thinner walled pipe and still be able to pass x-ray.

    After seeing this video I sure miss fabricating and welding it up. Used to do high pressure pipe systems in mild & stainless. Sure liked the stainless so much more. Those systems had to be 100% perfect. I enjoy the way you do your vids. Makes it easier for newbies to understand what it is you’re doing. 👍👍

    Absolutely spot on Austin. It’s the little things that most people miss and you clearly and thoroughly explain it all. Nice!!!

    For pressure pipe the transition had a ratio of 3 lengths of internal bevel to 1 length of wall thickness 3-1. Most of the time they wanted machined transitions one and a half the pipe diameter in length . I would do the same as Austin put on a land about a millimeter bigger than needed then transition with a 7"-5/32" disc . Done right and it would almost look machined . Once transition was done put the land on, it would come out very close to perfect

    Could u do a video on how to cut the saddle on pipe in a railing situation were you have to turn a corner that is greater than 90° so for example, your post is 3inch pipe and your rail is inch and a half pipe so your rail has to have a angle cut and a saddle at the same time I do a lot of farm repairs in cow sheds so lots of working with pipe I just eye 👁 it and try to get it as close as possible then just fill the gap 🙈 but would love to no how to do it fast and the right way, sometimes on small inch pipe I just put a sanding pad on the we grinder and shape it the best I can , love your videos over hear across the pond in Ireland 🇮🇪 👌💪💪

    how does wind effect stick?

    • @durpfurper2904
      @durpfurper2904 Před rokem

      When a weld puddle is in the open air it tends to get perocity. That weld puddle needs to be protected from open air as it cools. When your electrode is burning the flux on the rod burns and creates a shielding gas that protects the weld puddle from the open air. When the wind blows enough it will mix and pollute the shielding gas from the electrode and introduce air into the shielding environment and make the weld puddle prone to perocity and pinholes.

    I have some information about pipe bar wire corners that would be highly beneficial for you to look into! I have built a lot of fence all around the high plains of the panhandle and your corners may pull out when just tied to the end of the brace…. Please message me if you are willing to be open to it. P.S. I’m sorry this comment is not related but it is the most effective way to reach you
