Carista OBD2 Scan & Customize Tool Review for 2020-2024 Toyota Highlander

  • Hey fam, this review was requested by my subscribers and I'm happy to share with you my review for the Carista OBD2 Scan Tool. This dongle does way more than diagnose and show fault codes and clear them, you can check your battery voltage and it lets you customize various personalized car settings not available through the factory car settings. This dongle could pay for itself by giving you access to service settings to program your own TPMS right from the phone app if you tend to switch your winter and summer tires out each year.

    You don't need to keep the subscription. There is the option for a "trial-subscription" that expires within 30 days. Simply use the trial-subscription, make the changes you want to make, then cancel the subscription before the end of the trial period. All the changes you made to your vehicle will remain and you will not be billed for any subscription.

    Thank you so much for the informative video. Thanks to you I will be getting this! As you were scrolling thru the features, I noticed a feature that I am able to disable. "SFlow"...I absolutely can't stand that feature.

      No prob, I think S-Flow can be turned off in the monitor climate settings in the "options" tab. At least I see it in my Platinum trim 12.3" display.

    Owning a '21 Highlander Hybrid Limited, I am a huge fan of your content and insight on the vehicle we share. Thank You !! Are you aware of any negative to using Carista? Could the dealer dishonor your warranty if they determine you have changed any settings that you normally would not have the ability to access?

    • @vietbubbletea
      @vietbubbletea  Před 2 lety +2

      @ock913 Thanks, I appreciate the support! In my research, I didn't find any reviews regarding voided warranty issues. Carista is a cheaper alternative to the Toyota Techstream diagnostic tool that dealers use which gives the same if not more customized options than Carista so I don't see why it would void any warranty when it accesses the same ODB2 port. For example, the dealer has the ability to turn of the seat belt ding but they never do this due to customer safety and liability but the option is there. Carista has been around since 2018 to my knowledge and I think it's had nothing but positive experiences besides people who complain about the subscription model. I hope that helps!

    The Torque app might give you some live data. I have the BlueDriver which supports live data through the BlueDriver app. Not sure if the Torque app works with the BlueDriver dongle.

    With the rise in car thefts especially Toyota Highlanders, is there any security measures you've taken where you can post a video and talk more about it? I bought a Corolla Cross and your videos are very informative.

    • @vietbubbletea
      @vietbubbletea  Před rokem +1

      Without saying specifically what I have, you can look into a hidden kill switch, airtags for real time tracking, club on steering wheel, auto-lock on gas pedal or keep it in the garage. High tech thieves have software to clone a dummy key FOB even if you use a Faraday box or put your own FOB to sleep. The car is always sending a signal that can be tricked unfortunately. If a thief has enough time, they'll eventually steal the car but with each additional deterant we can hopefully slow them down or force them to move on to an easier target.

      @@vietbubbletea Thank you. I'm going to get an OBD lock. And I do turn off my key fob signal and majority of the time I'll park in the garage and never on the driveway. I'll invest in a GPS tracker and a steering wheel lock and I will keep your suggestions in mind. Thanks for your help!

    thanks for your videos. My 2022 allows me to reprogram my tpms myself, no need for dealer, I just followed the manual; not sure if the same on 2020 and 2021's, though.

    • @vietbubbletea
      @vietbubbletea  Před 2 lety

      @Mel Co Thanks, my 2021 let's me reprogram as well after I drive the car for around 15 minutes. My understanding is this will work for TPMS unit created by Toyota after 2018. I'm thinking if someone is using aftermarket TPMS units or those clone sensors that this may require manual registration still. Gotta thank Toyota for keeping up with the tech to make it easier for us!

    Can I uses for multiple vehicles or only for one the OBD port has to be connected always or just connected to what you have to do and unplug it

    • @vietbubbletea
      @vietbubbletea  Před 2 lety

      It can be used on multiple vehicles as long as the car is supported on the Carista website. Just plug it into the ODB2 port of the car you wish to use it on.

    When I go to your link and put in my car info (Toyota) and click purchase it redirects me to another site that only allows me to purchase Mfg Part #COBD-BT24 ES#3173695 Brand: Carista - and on that site Toyota isn't listed, My question is this the model Carista you have? Or I'm wondering if I'm restricted by region? If you don't know could you provide a direct link to the site you got yours from? Love the Vids and appreciate your time and effort in advance -
