The Original Bengals - The Story of the 1937 Cincinnati Bengals

The Original Bengals is a short doc film by Cam Miller telling the story of the 1937 AFL club. In 1967, Paul Brown would honor this team by naming his new Cincinnati franchise the Cincinnati Bengals.

For anyone interested, the uniforms of this team were as follows:
Orange pants
Orange jersey with black numbers
Orange leather helmet with three black stripes
In 1940 the pants changed to black.

My dad was one of the players cut from the team. He used to brag to us kids that he played for the Bengals; he never played in the scrimmage-game and was cut from the team to boot! What a revelation!

So Paul Brown chose to “adopt” the BENGALS name from Cincinnati’s very first Football Team!
