- Four Nigerian stowaways who crossed the Atlantic Ocean perched on top of a ship's rudder have been recounting their remarkable story of survival.
They say they ran out of food and drinking water after 10 days at sea.
When their death-defying voyage from Africa was finally over, they had no idea they had ended up in South America.

This is a Life and Death Journey.I m glad they made it alive.I m glad the Brazilian Government accepted them. There have quite a story to tell their grand kids.Brazilians are good and kind people.I love Brazil.
Oh pleas, most of us Brazilians want them gone from our country!!!😡🖕
They have dozens of countries in Africa to go to, they don't have to go to Brazil
@@user-ct4pg8be9x there now want to go to brazil.
@@crusader8331 They used to be tortured to death there, even the Portuguese used their bones as building material, they used to buy slaves just to torture, it is even common in the interior to buy a child to torture
@@user-ct4pg8be9xthere aren't no portugueses or slavering in brazil bruh, brazil isn't even close to being racism, you prob hating on it bc it is south american.
There is no way these 2 guys sat on the rudder of a ship and sailed from Africa all the way to South America across the Atlantic ocean. If this is true that is the craziest thing I've ever heard. When it is night time how in the world could they be on that rudder. With the pitch blackness of the sea and the waves over the Atlantic. C'mon if this is true these guys deserve millions. They need to enter Guinness book of record of life.
There were 4 guys and they ran out of food in 10 days. They hid in the back, staying close together. They ride themselves together to not fall out. They thought they had enough food because they thought they were going to Europe. They didn't expect to end up in the ocean going to the other side. Brazil was a huge shock to them but they didn't care where.
Nah. Not craziest thing. Not “craziest thing.” /
True talk.. they also deserve an award. All the risk in dark midnight Dis is really beyond my imagination. God is wonderful and powerful, to have preserve their lives for dis dangerous trip 🙌🙌🙌🙌
and one is a doctor the other a scientist
@@funkeoluwakemi81such precious human beings, isn't it? Future rocket scientists
Hocus Pocus there is no way they could have stayed on a ships rudder at sea...there is a standard rise and fall of about 9 feet that is on a very calm sea...not to mention an ocean....likely concealed themselves in deck housing..then on arrival moved themselves to the rudder.......for effect and sympathy..which has fooled many it seems.......Ex Merchant Seaman
Brazil took in hundreds of thousands of Nigerians in the past and now their descendants are in the millions I think a few more Nigerians will not hurt Brazil 🤣
I do feel like countries incl Brazil or the USA are much better for immigrants. They are immigrant countries after all. Europe is NOT. However, this is a matter of law. Escaping “economic hardship” is not a valid reason for crossing borders illegally.
US as well as Canada are immigrant friendly only for Europeans and wealthy people. In order to enter legally and stay forever one must pass through a lot of requirements and filters, illegals are systematically deported and those who ask for political asylums often have to make a lot of bureaucracy which is inconvenient because they're on extremely bad conditions.
South and Central American countries are far more friendly, excluding Mexico. Our immigration systems are far more relaxed (although disorganized).
You are correct, in the USA it's not good enough and you'd get sent back home. Idk about Brazil laws.
Yes, it is. Dude was homeless and chose to risk his life for the possibility of a better life. For me, that is a good enough reason to immigrate. I'm Brazilian and they are welcome here.
@@Trefzger1998 lol it is not! Your personal opinion on it doesn't change the laws.
cux europe is invader and Iooter
What the heck 😄 I'll never forget this story, it's beyond any expectations, just for the sheer act and willingness to pursue the incredible, someone should hire them
More impressive than this feat is the guys first name, Thankgod
This is definitely not their first rodeo. They both speak English with tinges of non-nigerian accent so I suspect they have lived in Europe before and were probably deported but still desperate to get back. Sad
You’ve never met with a Nigerian who lived all his lives in Nigeria with British or American accent, they are like that okay
Bruh Nigeria has regional accents and people who are actually semi or fully educated sound better. Stop limiting yourself to Hollywood movies.
His accent Is totally nigerian , Lagos Yoruba land ....
Nigeria have so many tribes ,hausa yoruba Igbos efik etc...
But english is the official language, some even speak pidgin english....no wahala.
@@doctorlawtvNigerians sound the same. All of them
These guys definitely not Nigerian that accent is from Southern part of africa
Considering the history of Brazil and what may have happened to ThankGod Yeye's ancestors who were brought over by the Portuguese enslavers, I am incredibly moved by this story. Western imperialism did not end in the mid-20th century; it merely morphed into the neo-colonialism of the IMF, World Bank, and multi-national corporations that we have today.
Yes the Brazilians will force him to pick cotton in the xxi century
God bless them really
If you want to enter to a country you go to the embassy and ask for visa, you left your wife and children alone? What kind of people is this? If you had to escape how can your children be safe?
to work and wire money so the family don't starve? Do you know that it's very difficult to get a visa and that is why people have to enter "illegally"? Doesn't seems you know what you are talking about.
@@cottelito92 there is a reason why it is hard to get a visa! Don’t you know that its hard for EU countries citizens to find jobs too? Go ask your own government to take care of you, riot in the streets don’t come bothering other people
@@cottelito92visas for nigerians are not easy....at all.
Who are you judge ?
@@cottelito92you are advocating illegal entry into countries?
You are condoning illegal entry into countries?
Believe it or not... this story from 3 weeks ago was published on local Brazilian channels 🤔
Life is tough 😢
Unreal brave men
where are the other two?
The second guy has a family, wife and children. They know the situation back home is but yet they still proceed to have families. Smh🤦
this is Life is amazing and advenchar , vally of dethe 😇
I like them...they are brave...
You should watch kids from Venezuela and south America get on moving trains just to get to USA
Thank God that Thankgod n co made it
How did they survive there for so long? What did they eat? From where did they get food?
Uber Eats
They all pitched in for Amazon prime account
Doordash
Luck for those two that applied for asylum. Those two that returned should be flogged.
Why take the risk?
Their destination was Europe and got disappointed when they heard Brazil 😂
@@emmanuelo1177 They are close to US 😃
I’m empathetic to these people and how badly they want to live in a foreign country.
However, why were these people not immediately returned to Nigeria? What is the point of even having immigration laws if someone can just show up on a boat and stay indefinitely?
clown
@@Cranimesao ?
It's actually not that bad in Nigeria. Some of these migrants are lied by smugglers and fork out thousands of dollars which could be used to start a small business in Africa.
@@mzalendo24 right, all countries have their issues, but it seems like the vast majority of these people are not fleeing violence.
It almost seems insane to me people like this are even allowed to apply for asylum, what are they seeking asylum from? It would make much more sense to just send them directly back home
@@mzalendo24 They seem chill over there. I'd go there and live for a while. All I need is a hut.
lucky immigrants they speak english they are from an english speaking country not french ,if from a french speaking country they should be able to speak french to help them
They haven't changed the name of that city yet?
My country Bangladesh
WOOOW IM IN BRASIL 😂😂❤🎉
what a disappointment, i'm brazilian , my country is not developed😞
considering that one of their names is "Thankgod", that tells me everything i need to know about why they fled their country.
i also am highly skeptical of their situation. they speak near perfect english and not with a nigerian accent
Thankgod it was Friday
That is definitely not a Nigerian accent
It quite it is there may be alot of Nigerians that has the accent with which the Nigerians portrayed in this video speak Thus they may be indeed Nigerians 🥰
this is untrue but people dont care because its a nice 'story'
Their English doesn't sound like that of Nigerians. They speak quite different
I thought so too. I think they should send them back to Nigeria since they're claiming Nigerians 🤔
They are Nigerians, I know the two who are seeking for asylum
Hollywood movies have planted an accent stereotype into your empty skull
How do they speak? Nigeria has 525 native languages so maybe you can school us on how my own people speak English. Some of you need to have your brains vacuum cleaned of all the garbage the western media have planted.
These are not Nigerians. We don't have any accents like this. They should investigate them properly.
That's the biggest problem, making sure they're not escaped criminals.
@@Edgar2023ES Did Brazil check their identity and criminal record in their home country?
@@Edgar2023ES It's possible they Nigeriens and not Nigerians. They're 2 different countries. The guys in these video don't speak like Nigerians.
Now they are in Brazil. After a few days they will be in USA
No. There are lots of African immigrants in Brazil
@@Daniel-oc8sx True.. There are some here in my city
@@Brasileiro222 Yeah, and we want them gone as quick as possible!
actualy to some africans brazil is consider first world. Here they would also be way better treated than in USA or europe. Brazil is friendly to imigrants, rasicm here is ilegal and houses don't cost a fortune, and have free healthcare system. Sincerily, I think is a honor to be chosen as a contry that others want to live
If you think your country is not good…. Look at other countries and you will discover that other people are in worse situations than you…
Be thanksful that you are not syrian
economic immigrants. by their own admission.
Impressive that they perservered.
His accent is not Nigerian both of them
coitados, queriam chegar na Europa e vieram para o Brasil, que decepção
Its under age they both is beetwin 1 to 25 they dream it
Maybe they should fix their own countries?
I believe this is a true story; however they survived, it is true. I live in Nigeria, where the majority does not carry the vote. Things are very hard, and sorry to publicise the fact that if I can hide somewhere to escape from Nigeria, I will take the chances of doing so. I DO NOT LIKE NIGERIA
