Did you know you that, for a small fee, you can replace that wood saw by sending it back to Victorinox? The other tools can be sharpened, like the awl or the can opener. That way you could bring that older knife back to the game. I say this because just a few days ago I sent a Workchamp to Victorinox to replace the metal file. Also, I buy new ones on occasion too because I’m crazy about SAKs. Thank you for the review and great choice on that green Farmer.

Alternatively, simply sharpen the saw. If this old girl can do it, so can you. A vice and small triangular Swiss file is all you need. Carefully follow the alternating angles of each saw tooth with two even strokes of the file and repeat until you have restored all the points; then lay the blade flat on a medium whetstone and gently remove the edge burrs on each side. xx

It’s not a bona fide knife review unless the presenter has at least one bandage on a finger.

It's my favourite as well but I would like to see a magnifying glass in it.

i have the silver farmer knife and used it for nearly 10 years and its never let me down the awl has seen most use but its easy enough to keep it sharp i use a diamond hone to keep it sharp.i cannot think of another knife that could replace it in my daily carry .we cannot carry lock knife in the U.K. so it has to be a slip joint and under 70mm orso in length . i do use couple of mora 810's for when i am out shooting and need a fixed blade for when i am doing some serious woodcraft and at the price of about £10 uk im not bothered if i bend or break one and they are razor sharp out of the box highly recommended piece of kit

One of my favorites too. Have you ever sent one back to Victorinox? I'm pretty sure they will replace the implements that have worn out. That may be a good video idea.

Just sharpen the tools back up or see if Victorinox will replace the worn ones!

Yeah, but that eliminates the “reason” for buying a new green one. 😁

I know you have bought a new one and that’s fine they are good value. But you know the wear can be easily rectified. That awl will take a new point and the edge will resharpen, as would the blade. It’s the saw blade I know I couldn’t do, these knives with care and a bit of work will last you or me out

The saw can be sharpened too to a certain degree: czcams.com/video/6vtErh2IZwI/video.html

Indeed, but as Felix says, it’s not recommended. It might be better to send it in and have Victorinox replace the saw blade.

do you need some warranty list or something ? if you want to sent it back to vic to replace the saw? Or is the knive alone enough?

I have got the dark green farmer. I also really like my pioneer too. But no saw...

If you like the Pioneer check out the newer Pioneer X, no saw but scissors added which is even better.

Hey bud, I currently own the farmer, but find myself not using the saw at all. And I was thinking about picking up a pioneer.
What exactly are you using the saw for? Why do you like having it?

    • @totallyfrozen

I actually use the wood saw for various repair tasks. Recently, I used it to saw through some PVC pipe while making some repairs around the house.

for me the pioneer is king.....i carry that pocket knife everywhere.
i also have a rambler on my keys in case i need small phillips or to snip something with scissors.
i would buy a farmer instead of my pioneer...but i live in the city and whenever i need a saw , i have a proper one at home....but the most frequently used saw by me is a hacksaw occasionally chop wood or plastic pipe with a wood saw for diy.
so the pioneer is like the perfect knife for me with zero uselsess utility ...perfect size and weight too.
