- July 7th 2022 the canadiens selected Juraj Slafkosky first overall. I was shock, mad and sad. But as the days goes on, the more and more sure I am this guy was the real deal in the draft.

Quite frankly, I think Slafkovsky is the best choice for HUBS. I'm Czech, we have Jágr, and our brothers finally have theirs, and I believe that he will become one of the best HNL hockey players and, above all, he will play for the Canadian team. I am very glad that HUBS chose Slafkovský, he is a great talent and I am glad that Slovakia finally has such a big hockey superstar.
It’s great to see tbh, the game is growing and great players like slaf will come from a lot of countries. In the past 20 years we ve seen so much in terms of development in different countries and it’s great to see
HABS. Not HUBS. But if Slaf can grow to be half of the player Jagr was and still is, the HABS will have made the right choice.
Dekuju a myslim si, ze toto nase "dieta" urobi konecne dieru do Sveta, ktoru Slovensky hokej potrebuje, boli sme podcenovani, nas a Vas hokej urobil dieru do Sveta a pritom sme tak male staty, Jagr je zijuca legenda a my Slovaci to vieme a vazime si ho ! :)

As a Slovak, im really thankfull for this video. I have tears in my eyes and goosebumps all over my body as i watching the video. You cant imagine how heartwarming is this video for me and im sure for many Slovaks as well! The best video i have seen about Slafkovský yet! After the all trouble that slovak hockey had this draft is the impulse what we needed and also the proof that we finally doing something good. Also thanks to Miro Šatan, thanks to Craig Ramsay and thanks to the whole management who started to do something for the youth! I hope that this is only the beginning, we cant wait for the next drafts because we have still to offer something. :) But the fact is that Slaf is a talent that you have once in 100 years. I mean, we had Hossa, Demitra, Gáborík, Šatan and so on, but Slaf is something else. Hope he will proove his qualities in the NHL as well. Poďme Juraj, poďme Montreal!

@@truenorth2995 Thank you dude 😊 Montreal is in my heart since Jaro Halák did crazy in the playoffs, that was so huge in Slovakia as well and from that time i started to have more interest in the NHL. I am so happy as Montreal choose Juraj and Mešár. We are rooting for you, GO HABS!
@@alexanderrakai6606 I agree Halak had an amazing series back then! And now with Juraj and Filip picked in the first round, I think Montréal is on the right path. They still need to add a few more good, first and second rounders in the next couple of years, and then who knows what can happen!

When Stu Cowan asked him if there was a particular moment, when he knew there might be a chance to take over as first overall in the draft, Slafkovsky said when he came to North America, and started playing on the smaller ice, he said he knew his game was about to take the next step, he said its easier to hit people, they cant get away as easily! lol, and he said it just fits his game much better, then the larger ice surfaces. I LOVE the pick, I think there was too much hype around a kid who was dominate 3 or 4 years ago, but from 14-18 u do a lot of growing, and that's where u kind of mold ur game to whatever style ur going to adapt, things change, and I think Wright plateaued already. Im not saying he wont be a competent NHL player, but i doubt he will score more then 25 goals, ever in the NHL. That's my opinion, i realize a lot of people think he is gonna be a super star, time will tell i guess!!! Go Habs Go!!! I expect Slafkovsky's ceiling to be a little higher.
He s a stud, personally I expect maybe a 70 pts per year kinda player, scouts says the worst outcome is a top 6 forward and the best outcome, an elite forward
Kids got heaps of pressure on him to perform. I think it was the better pick, but never underestimate the brain man. Wright very well could come out of the gates swinging, and do everything in his body to make sure he does better than Slaf this season. Drive is a crazy thing that could change somebodies career. They should both have drive, but man I know Wright probably has a fire lit under his ass and he's ready to go. It will be fun to watch what both of these guys do this season, I'm a wings fan, so I have no bias toward either of them, just wanted to add another perspective.

Very impressive video. In addition to talent, Juro Slaf also has a personality, as Habs fans have probably already found out. There are whole stories that entertained our nation and if I had to mention only one, it would probably be the goal from the buffet, as Juro named it by himself after the game against the Swedes at the Olympics.

I don't know why, but I sens kind of a Tom Brady vibe. On one end, we had Wright, the guy that everybody thought he'd go #1. On the other end, I think Juraj has the hearth, the work ethic and the passion to become one of the best hocker player in this league. With his size, physicallity and skill, I have no doubt he's got what it takes to become one of the great. When I see him, I see a guy who's been doubted many times, and don't be mistaken, he knows it and he seems to play and train with a chip on his shoulder. Montreal has been his favorite team since he was a kid, there was no better choice for them to get a kid who's willing to put the effort and the hours to become the player he can become.

Jagr used to play with the puck much more than Slafkovsky. He was a true magician. Juraj is physically similar to Jaromir but play-wise different worlds.

I’d say more a Mikko Rantanen with a SPICE of Jagr (mostly puck protection wise).
And a physical touch (talking about hitting here, not just size) that neither really has or had.
(Sort of like Ovy when he goes RussianTank mode, or Anderson when he feels like POUNDING someone through the boards)

@@jonathancastonguay5606 Shane made a mistake,fell asleep on the train,when there was covid and there was no play in America , he should have gone with other juniors to play in Europe with men. Here in Slovakia,there were three Americans and Canadians, they played a league with men against Šimon Nemec from Nitra or Mešar from Poprad ,he could improve.
It was a very small portion of fans that booed, maybe you should fix your volume on your TV cuz there was a lot of cheers for slavsqaush

@@jonathancastonguay5606 Strongly agreed, the only reason Wright was near start of draft even considered 1st overall was only the fact he is a centre, but skillwise and hockey IQ wise, Slafkovsky was by far the best player of the draft.

Pretty sure that's Shane Wright. He'll prove it soon enough. Just because Montreal had a bad GM that picked Goliath over David doesn't mean anything. Stats speak for them selves, the giant Slovakian has not been good his whole leaf, only 1 or 2 seasons. Wright has been good since birth. Everyone talks of this kid 7 goals in 7 games at WJC and get bronze. Wright got 9 goals in 5 games, gold gold AND MVP!.
This kid is not even close to being in the same caliber as right, but I get it, you guys got to justify the wrong pick some how and make it look like it was the better pick, I mean who wants to admit they made a horrible horrible mistake.
wow with those arguments you could be a scout for jamaica's future hockey team!! we cant determine which player is going to be the best for now. but profesionals had slaf number one more then wright, nhl scouts in majority (about 60%) had slaf number one. tbh i was on the shane train too, but after analysing slaf's game by watching full games at the olympics and tps turko one thing stands out. His improvement, after the olympics he went on to have a 0,50 pts per game pace in liiga (including playoffs) in a rookie year. his ability to impress is second to none. And i didnt even talk about the natural talent this guy has. in my opinion both Wright and slafkovsky are going to be really good players. but id give a little edge on slafkovsky.
slafkovsky was always better than his peers, when he was 13 years old, the coaches moved him to the 16-year-old team, he scored 54 Canadian points in 23 games
@@topsecret3671 And at 14 he also played in U19 in Czechia. That actually means exceptional status. Similar case is Nemec, making debut against men at 15.

you dont even know the correct stats... slafkovsky had 7 goals in 7 games and bronze at OLYMPICS, and not WJC... :D and MVP, at the same olympics... not WJC :P
